  1. Tennis is a great workout (especially when you are just starting and don't have much control). I keep trying to get the people I know around here to play, but they don't seem as enthusiastic about it as me. I've been good about going to the gym everyday since I joined, even if its just for cardio. I've been trying to focus more on my form as of late to get better results. I have a new part of my body sore everyday.
  2. Yeah I tooled around with P90x at home so I'm used to the intervals. Joining the gym will give me some more motivation to actually work out when I get distracted at the apartment. I followed Biscuit's shoulder workout at the gym today and I definately feel it. Hopefully this change of pace will spark something. I know the muscle gain wont really do much for the belly flab, but hopefully some new chest and shoulder exercises can help tighten up my upper body. Staying this way for much longer may have to lead to some calorie crunching and better portion control.
  3. I've been trying to eat clean for a couple of months with the exception of a cheat meal maybe once a week and even then I go for options likes sub or grilled chicken. My biggest cutout has been sweet tea and I try to drink at least 96oz of water a day, sometimes more. I don't really track what I eat but I try and stay consistant. When I'm at the office all day I don't really eat as much as a workout day. Generally its kashi go lean and almond milk for breakfast, a snack of something like almonds mid morning, luch of a lean meat and a vegetable, usually a piece of fruit for an afternoon snack, dinner of a lean meat and vegetable and greek yogurt with fresh fruit or kashi before bed. On workout days I'll turn the afternoon snack into a similar meal and a protein shake post workout. I also ditch the cereal for egg whites on these days. I know I'm not getting enough calories to really pack on muscle, but I try to keep my protein up and stick to lean meats I prepare myself. Now that I'm going back to the gym, I'll need to add some protein to my afternoon snack. I've definately lost weight, I can see the difference and notice it a lot in my clothes. My problem areas are my gut and chest because I was very heavy when I was younger. I'm basically at a crossroads of do I need to keep trying to lose the extra weight or try to add some more muscle to help out.
  4. I've been trying to eat clean for a while now but the extra belly and chest weight I carry are still being stubborn. I've cut red meats and backed off of dairy except for greek yogurt. I try to get a my protein from sources like chicken, turkey, egg whites, protein powders and of course greek yogurt. I try to make my meals for the week on the weekends and stick to them at work. This weekend i'm planning on making zucchini turkey burgers with taziki sauce made from the god-send that is 0% greek yogurt. I try to incorporate that into a lot of sauces as an extra protein source. It's an excelent substitute for mayo. In college I worked as a manger of a vegan/vegetarian shop. Quinoa and Lintels can not be underestimated as a good grain substitute with a protein bonus. The hardest part is sticking to the diet and not necessarily seeing the results I want. I feel like I'm eating pretty good and hopefully it pays off soon. Of course, alcohol is the killer since it's such a social event. I don't drink a lot, but I need to try and cut back to nothing.
  5. I stopped by the one at Long Leaf. It's the closest one to me.
  6. I think I'm going to join the Golds here in Wilmington tomorrow. Stopped by today for a tour, got a pretty good price. It'll be nice to get back to working out in a gym and out of the apartment.
  7. Any of you guys had experience with intermittent fasting? Basically reversing your eating cycle by getting all your meals into a 8 hour window. I've been seeing more of it recently and thought about trying it to break my current weight loss plateau. I have the worst time getting rid of the extra weight in my chest and waist.
  8. Yeah, I'll let you know. Honestly the New Year crowd is one of the reasons I didn't look into it sooner. Good to know it gets better after 6, because I don't get off work till then.
  9. The one at Long Leaf is right down the street from my work. I might do the one week trial in a couple of weeks and go from there. I guess my last question would be is it usually pretty busy around 6 in the evening? Thanks for the info, its probably the one I'm leaning towards, just have to check on the pricing and all.
  10. Yeah, that Golds is really close by to my work and I have another guy at my work that goes there in the morning. I'd probably be going after work most days and wanted something clean thats not too crowded and not too many sketchy members. I had heard Crest Fitness was nice but that's too far out. Thanks
  11. Hey biscuit, can you recommend some good gyms in WIlmington, I'm going to be looking to join one in the next month or so but the online reviews seem to be all over the place.
  12. It surely isn't "Just Type A Smart Ass Comment Without a Pic, Any Pic"
  13. So is PSC trying to prove a point by being a hypocrite? Classy. Look, I think there are more than a couple of us that agree the Lovely Ladies can be kept in their own forum, but you posting those types of pictures in opposition hasn't made the problem any better and you are just contributing to it. It annoys the hell out of us just coming here to look at interesting pictures and to get a laugh.
  14. No, but I've been interviewing there so I'm hopeful something will happen. If I'm in the area I'll stop buy and look or try some more specialty places around here. I doubt most of us would turn down kool aid, we just don't want to admit it.
  15. I couldn't find pure Stevia last time I went to the grocery store so I'll have to widen my search a little more. All the big name brands just fluff it with stuff like dextrose to make it even out in ratio to sugar because Stevia it sweeter in smaller amounts. That leads to the bitter after taste and higher price. What ratio do you use for stevia to a cup of sugar? And yeah, I don't understand the unsweet tea drinking when it's the low grade tea bags. If you are using a premium loose leaf or bag, I'm in. Both my girlfreind and my ex ordered unsweet and then added sweet and low at the table...never understood that.
  16. 1 2/3 Been trying to use Stevia In The Raw more, but all that stuff has the same strange after taste.
