He is so overvalued on the huddle.

Bet you can't find someone who says we should not keep Burns or that he is overvalued.

I don't mean internet randos. I mean actual quotes from a professional, either media or inside the NFL - the people who's job it is to live and breath NFL football. Bet you can't find anyone who's an actual professional speak about Brian Burns the way the huddle does.

Fans of 31 teams would raise their hands if asked if they'd like Brian Burns on their team.

The huddle way undervalues him. I'm not saying he's worth $30MM, don't get it twisted. Y'all act like he's one of the worst players on defense. It's absolute insane to me.

Most important thing for him to do is work on that god awful accuracy.

Nothing backs this statement up. You can say eye test, but every stat, analysis, chart and professional opinion I've seen says he's one of the most accurate passers in the league. I didn't watch every game, but the games I did see, your statement about hitting a barn sounds like hyperbole. Maybe you need glasses?

There were signs throughout the season that they were not on the same page, so I’m not surprised. I think Shanahan wanted a different type of defense so the hire was a bit odd to begin with.

    ...

I feel bad for Wilks, but in the end I just don’t think the two of them were a good match.

This is what Shanahan said in his press conference. They want to go in a different direction with defensive scheme. Said he went back and watched the whole season.

Just my opinion but I think that Ben Johnson knows that he doesn't have the personality or the leadership ability to be a HC which is why he keeps pulling out of jobs where he's the obvious Number 1 choice for that team. He knows that despite that red flag teams are so desperate for a young offensive HC that they ignore any and all red flags and offer him the job.

I'm not sure if you meant it this way, but I don't think anyone thinks of themselves like this. "Dude why do you keep trying to give me a job when you see I got all these red flags." I think if he felt he wasn't cut out for a HC job, or didn't want a HC job, he wouldn't be taking the interviews. I think it's more likely he's using some teams to drive up the price for the team he actually wants to coach for. Either that, or he is truly just trying to get a ring with Detroit. Maybe he sees staying as OC is a better chance for a ring than moving to HC now.

Especially when the OP of said thread attacks certain groups they obviously disagree with in their TL/DR epic rant.

If Canales and his staff doesn't work out, it has nothing to do with their personal lives outside of football.  It would mean they aren't good football coaches.  So keeping it 100% about football it should remain.

I really hate that thread was locked. That post was so absolutely nuts, the entertainment value lost is such a shame.

Curious what’s lead you to believe he’s in over his head? Not being overly critical, just curious as to what’s driving this thought for you.

    ....

So tldr, nothing specific, more gut feeling which may be actually caused by outside factors; like my own personal experiences, and Matt Rhule. At this point, I just need people to prove they can walk the walk. I don't care if they can talk the talk.

There was a whole nother paragraph here, but I deleted that becasue I think there was too much nuance and context. The tldr version is much more concise.

  7. Considering Reich was the one to convince Caldwell to come out of retirement, I'm a bit confused why he's staying around. This was huge news at the time, because prior to Reich nobody was able to get Caldwell to un-retire. The whole thing with him being retained smells fishy to me.

    Lol

He was the one that cut off negotiations. I would be happy with anything for him but I'm prepared to watch him walk. Maybe they can pitch a one tag and no more type deal. I wouldn't get my hopes up, he wanted to be paid long ago.

Worst case, he'll be tagged and traded. No one in their right mind would let him walk.
