We've already got 2nd fiddles we need the big dog to flush the QB to those blokes. Like what Bain did for this fella

Mesidor had more sacks, more tackles, more tackles for loss, more forced fumbles while playing 1 less game.

Its a team sport. They benefited from each other.

Id prefer an OT or top inside linebacker but Mesidor is no slouch

Depends what you want. It's an expensive trade (although not a crippling one). It's whether you think he's a game wrecker or not.

I know he was in College - he was sensational for 3 years (and actually hurt himself by refusing to come out of games) - and I think he will be in the NFL.

Evero employs soft zone schemes with big CBs - so you don't need to spend high Draft picks on CBs. We need a LB and a S, but they're no longer a premium position in the NFL i.e. not first round picks.

So I could get down with improving the DLine.

A middle linebacker 2 safety, and a weekside linebacker just got first, second,  fourth, snd fifth in defense rookie of the year voting.

I haven’t followed the tawdry tale of Watson and his massage therapy, basically at all.
Being ignorant, I have to wonder how that stuff doesn’t relieve his employers from their financial obligations. Seems like that is a ‘for cause’ scenario.

Cleveland traded for Watson long after the incident. His issues have been bad play and injury since then. Why would that relieve Cleveland of financial obligations?

That poo happened when he was a Texan. There was a full year a public drama and legal proceedings in the media and then Cleveland traded for him knowing all of of It.

Historically elite defense led by Wade Phillips vs Mike Shula. regardless of any Shula adjustment, Wade was going to play 4D chess. Mike Shula is not going to out scheme Wade Phillips. Mike could only hold a job for 2-3 years with every team he worked for… except the Panthers. We were blessed with 6 years of his guidance.

When it comes to coaching, we still can’t have nice things.

Historically elite? They werent the best defense that season They were 4th in points allowed that season just 2 ahead of us with less than 1 point per game separating.

They were 2nd in yards in 15 but there were 6 teams this season alone that gave up fewer yards per game.

I have been saying buy out his RFA year. I don’t want to worry about some team doing a poison pill contract. Which would only happen if he balls out. You hedge your bet.

Give him a nice raise for 2026 and lock him in with a bump for 2027. Incentivize both years.  See where you are then.

The poison pill loophole was eliminated 15 years ago in the 2011 CBA.

  6. I dont really expect anyone to have any character or values when the system doesn't. I would respect those who did though. College Football is losing what little interest I had in it. I wasn't against giving the athletes some control but whatever this system is will kill it over time.

  7. Slater is expected  to return for camp and Brown returned to play in a little over a year (texans signed him with the knee issue)

Its certainly a terrible situation and Icky wont play next season but be careful using AI to summarize info. It doesn't replace reading the current information yourself. It always takes in to account out of date speculation and displays it as facts.

If he's gonna wait until next year's hiring cycle to jump back in the mix then he's probably going to take one of those advisor roles on a staff similar to what we have with Dom Capers. Basically just a mind to pick. The thing is that I don't think there's any connections to McD with our current staff. We'd be much more likely to reach out to Pete Carroll for that type of role which honestly I think we should.

Reportedly turned down something similar in Tampa already. Im not familiar with this source though

Or he holds out. Happens literally all the time.

If nothing else, pride shouldn’t allow him to play for a team paying him less than Xavier legette.

Name these ERFA that hold out all the time. Name 2....or even 1.
