To be fair, the NFL has rules about teams not outwardly stating who the number 1 overall pick is before draft night. I’m sure it has something to do with ratings, intrigue, etc.

I understand  that but I just know we have a GM that is very open for business  around the clock. You have a valid point tho but this is always the worse time of year trying to read GMs.

That's cool, but all this negative talk about Bryce Young is getting annoying.

All yall complain about is his size, size, size!

What about his ability to play QB at a elite level? What about his ability to make plays after the play breaks down? What about his ability to take command of the offense?

It's hard not to mention it, when it's a glaring concern. I have watched his highlights and got crunk as hell thinking about him as our pick and I've watched his lowlights  and scratched my head. It is what it is tho and we will see!!

I guess I feel like Strouds struggles handling pressure and working off script, Levis’s pressure/accuracy issues, and Richardsons accuracy could eventually limit an offense just as much if not more than Youngs size. The offense we are rumored to be building looks to be heavily RPO and empty sets both of which Bryce excels at. Eagles and Chiefs were in shotgun a ton last year

All these guys have flaws that can dictate what you can and can’t call, the difference is Bryce will be able to move you in and out of plays, read the defense, and help us maximize his strengths.

Every QB has a system that maximizes their Strengths and it’s up to the coaches to get it out of them. Our coaches clearly seem to think the talent and what he brings compared to the others outweighs any offensive limitations.

And I'd be totally  for it if they feel that and proceed  forward. I'm not going to sit and scream that we picked him but I could make an argument  that the other Qbs could do something  that Bryce couldn't. Regardless, if we pick him, I'm going to root him on but I know anything is possible  until we officially  confirm it.

The moment Bryce Young did that interview with Smitty it was a done deal he was going to be the pick. Smitty even gave hints during the interview.

That could've been to you but  what's the point in our front office not confirming it yet... Is it that we have a GM that always wants to have options. We traded Cmac... I have seen with Fitt that he always keeps his options open. Gms get antsy the closer the draft get. Gms also play chicken as long as they can...

    Man yall are insufferable.

Draft is Friday if we were trading back it would have happened by now. Bryce Young is our QB.

Man you don't have to click the link or like anything... We all entitled  to our opinions  bro. I will accept him and cheer him on but to act like I can't have concerns is ridiculous!! Also, you have never seen a trade on draft night.... or day before... cmon man.... anything is possible! Rather it's Bryce or the other 3, I'm going to root for him but he is not my preferred 1st choice... deal with it!

How I feel exactly. I really like the guy and he seems to be a generational football mind, but I just don’t see any way he works long term. He has one of the worst physical profiles I can think of and his play style relies on his mobility.

The #1 overall pick should expand what you’re capable of doing schematically, not limit it. We’d be scheming around Bryce Young’s weaknesses, not his strengths. You can’t say the same for any of the other top quarterbacks.

The very thing I'm scared of!!  Scheming to his weaknesses and becoming 1 dimensional!! The number 1 pick I the draft has to be a lil more than intelligent.   It's why so many Qbs like him go later in the Draft because the risk factor matches. No GMs/coaches  have to look over their shoulder as much.  He has skill and I'm not denying that, just hate the thought of the offense being stuck at some point.

  7. I always keep my mind open to all opinions  but I think I'd like the extra picks and 1 of the 2 Qbs I think are just as good. I'm not too high on Levis but I wouldn't mind either of Stroud or AR in the trade back. I think as we get closer to Thursday, more possibility of trade talks will heat up.  All that's needed is 1 of Indy or Houston to get antsy with the anticipation and both have owners with those issues.

  8. Vegas has now shifted Levis to be selected number 2 in the Draft. There have been numerous  signs pointing at The Colts loving him and recently Houston beat writers have mentioned him too. This could pit them both against each other and we could possibly drop to 2 or 4 and still net one of AR or Stroud.   This would be the perfect time to be on the phones with the Colts.

Meltdowns are one extreme. Acting like it means nothing is another.

Durability concerns are a valid issue. Even the Panthers acknowledge that.

Exactly! I'm one that doesn't hate Bryce at all but we did invest a bunch to move up to 1. That alone makes you want to be sure your investment  odds last as long as they can.  I think some are blinded by highlight plays and don't even care. I'm going to root for him if he is the pick but you are right, as long as he plays that thought will hang over him. An analyst  just mentioned  how Russell career went off the deep end(people forget the last couple years in Seattle too) and how it is a huge outlier. What happens when you have injury concerns on the oline, a couple wrs go down... will we get schemed easier due to his size. It's all things that have to be considered  no matter where he was picked but definitely  as THE NUMBER 1 PICK.

    Would they?

I think it's easy as an analyst and as an anonymous GM / Scout to say "Yeah he's the best QB in the Draft" when there are no ramifications for you.

If your job is on the line are you really pounding the table for such a small QB? I doubt many would.

I concur!! I think he could be good but nobody can truthfully say that his flaws aren't something  that need to be looked at. We traded all the way to 1, so we already have to minimize the fail factor and think long-term.  I just got worried that they apparently  talked to him at the combine and then the interviews and that was what sold them. That's the same thing that got Rhule hired and a bunch of us(myself included) hype! Terry Bradshaw could barely talk but was a good qb.  I'm going to root for whoever but I'd hate for us to have to compromise (reduce playbook now and the future)so much for a prospect at the number 1 pick.   If that braintrust of offensive minds are all in, I'll trust them but it's their jobs on the line and not ours! As always... Keep Pounding!

    Not elite.

Bro, I am really here scratching my head now because  I'd hate for us to trade up to 1...  and this dude turns into Johnny Manziel bc of limitations.  I had watched highlights  of Bryce and saw the magic but I hope it translates bc he sure did seem to hold the ball a bunch.

  12. I'm going to support whoever and I have warmed up to Bryce  but watching this video really has me kind of questioning  him. When they ask what trait is elite and will that elite be different  vs elite level players. I'm a lil worried but hopefully  we continue to build around him if he is the pick!

It could happen, but RPO doesn’t necessarily mean read option. If I’m not mistake Kirk Cousins did some RPO in Minnesota over the years. It  just means the play called has a couple possibilities based off of what the qb sees from the defense. The run part, could just be a simple hand off, sure there could be read option but it’s not exclusive to RPO. Would a player like AR thrive in a RPO, you bet! But so could BY.

In terms of thinking it’s AR all along, it’s possible, but right now, unlikely. Looking at all the tinfoil hat items: TD saying we were taking AR, our two day visit with AR (other visits were only one day), Texans supposedly canceling (not confirmed if they canceled or just didn’t schedule one) their visit with AR, Tony Pauline saying Reich wants AR and if I’m not mistaken, Fitt said ultimately, the decision is Reich’s, the trade up happened after the combine where AR blew up and young didn’t participate etc., there could be more but I can’t remember them all. I’m not saying this is going to happen or I believe it, but there are some interesting theories.

All the insiders are reporting young, everything is pointing to young, so it’s going to be young.

Yes, you have some very valid points!! I think it'll be Young too but Fitt is definitely  playing this close to the vest!!!

Again, it's draft time. The smoke is being blown away from the battlefield. BY ain't it.

Call Houston and make a deal for CJ. We get AR at #2 plus recoup a pick or two.

I just seen a tweet earlier from Mike Kaye that has me confused. He mentioned how Frank will be using the RPO offense and to make of that, what you will. I had accepted that Young is the gut but he doesn't fit the RPO. Then you look at the whole Richardson in a trade down to 2 scenario. I'm wondering if they are really thinking of AR all alone and trying to ride it out until it's definite not trade can be made.  Ready for this to be over!!

That’s the only way it’s possible but I think that still doesn’t work out logically. Because Houston would know we aren’t going to drop that many spots and miss out on a QB. Unless we had Levis has out top prospect, trading with Indy could mean we miss out on Young, Stroud AND Richardson.

Possibly but being that they are in the same division... the threat would make Houston front office think at least. As others have stated, Houston  front office isn't that well renowned  to make good decisions!

  16. 7 minutes ago, TheMostInterestingMan said:

Well that’s why I feel there’s absolutely no chance this trade ever happens. It’s illogical for them to make. Because we are never trading the pick unless we know we still get our guy. And if they know that, then that means they still get their guy without giving up extra assets. We either love BY and would never trade out or we love someone else and they get BY anyway.

I had that same thought too until I wondered I Indy got involved. All it takes is for a leak of Indy wanting to move up to 1 and Houston trying to block that. Apparently  Indy called Chicago  too and offered Pittman n etc. Houston has to have their head on the swivel. This is why the Chicago GM said we wanted to control the draft.

  17. In the hypothetical world where Houston calls us and does want to get to 1, what's your options? I know I've seen pick number 12 but I would rather have their 1st next year. I think Houston will be picking again in the top 5 and that could very well give us Stroud and Harrison!  I like all 3 QBs but just getting away from the back n forth.      Well not sure if this has been linked but it looks like the tug of war is going on! If Frank is really fighting for Stroud but Tepper is saying Bryce, we will start things off with dysfunction!! I know that Bryce has gained momentum  but if Tepper allowed Rhule to get Darnold, Teddy and Baker but not allowing Frank to get his guy... Idk but I hope this doesn't start off bad.
