I would be all for taking a Safety that high because I believe with an intelligent DC a roaming Safety (whatever name you want to call it) can completely change the ways you can attack and neutralize an Offensive gameplan.  See Nick Emmanwori effects on Seattle back end defense scheme most recently.

Unfortunately I don't have that much faith with our current defensive coaching staff to get that type of immediate return and effectiveness out of that position and in return wasting that kind of draft capital.

We wouldn't get the most out of a 1st Rd Safety compared to a OT, IOL, TE, ILB, DL or EDGE with our current coaching staff in my opinion. So i doubt we go this route but I wouldn't hate it.

True and some blue chipper will fall bc of medical. Happens every year! I have a hunch that Caleb Downs may fall more than ppl think. Too many ppl blew away the combine with 1st round grades.  We could jump on that or definitely  an oline player.

    I hope so.

Would also be sweet for Hendrickson to play Cincy twice per year after the sour taste in his mouth from the past couple of offseasons.

I do too. Twitter is saying a bunch of teams and agents are pissed at Baltimore  rn. I'd assume Phillips wouldn't want no parts in that rn. I think we're good!

Looks to be a lateral move going from Mays to Fortner. Saints fans wanted to keep him according to their forums. It’s a 1 year deal. He’s betting on himself to have a monster year beside Lewis and Hunt and then cash in next year.

I was just saying that a center would definitely  bet on himself being between those 2 guards.

  4. I'd look at names from the Senior and Shrine game and go from there. We seem to look into those prospects  a bunch.  Senior bowl oline players  get overlooked  but they seem the most ready to contribute  in rounds after round 1.

Good catch.  I read a dated review  (He used to be a hybrid /will) but when I checked the source, 2023).  This is (to me) encouraging because it allows us to go after a player like Golday (Cinn) who can play both, but is known for his WLB play. Harold Perkins is another name. This  is good because I have heard "He was in a contract year" but scheme and position responsibility is very important.  I am more excited about this now--

Yep and going back to college he had 8 sacks his last year  to boot. He has a good skillet if played properly!!

I don’t know much about the QBs in this class, but it is interesting there seem to be a few that were up until this past season considered 1st round picks that are now looked at more in the mid rounds (Sellers, Klubnik, Beck more so 2 yrs ago but still). I wonder if one of those types could be the guy. But also there’s probably good reason they lost favor. I remember when Sam Howell was considered a possible #1 pick, then another year in college happened.

It's really some guys to ke that have a shot to be good with the right system. Canales wants mobile qbs that have some upside.  Perfect draft to grab one mid round and build a guy up the way you want.

I'd feel much more comfortable going into 2026 with him as a starter and Yosh/rookie as a backup than Yosh/equivalent and a rookie prayer as backup or starter.

Also, this is where a smaller extension for Icky would come in handy. Extend him for 2 years as suggested in another thread, spread out that 5th year option salary cap hit, use the relief to sign Decker, and give Icky time to recover and evaluate instead of taking a shot in the dark after a year or longer full recovery period.

Teams like Houston are gonna go all out for Oline help.

  8. I'm sure we all have a few bones to pick with people in our past but that does nothing on most cases moving forward. This podcast era is the gift n the curse. Everyone has to have the hot take but often times, it hurts your image. Steve is beloved by the heart n gut he showed on the field but he definitely  needs to just find peace somehow. He's  too grown to be out here flaming folk from years ago.
