I want at least 2 of these 4 picks to not be project players for the love of God

Damn near player that falls to the 4th round and beyond is a project. That or they either have concerns about their character or medical.

  2. I'm not the biggest fan of Legette, but I disagree with the Mingo comparisons.  On the field Legette looks like a much better athlete.  Don't care about testing results.

With that said I hate that he's already 23 with only one year of big time production.  But I get it at the same time.  The upside is there and Canales is an experienced WR coach.  If Legette is good, Canales should be the one to help show it.

  3. This would be the worst time to change uniforms because demand for Panthers gear is low because we suck.  Business wise, it would be smarter to wait until after we have at least one good season that makes fans happy and excited for the future.  That is when they will be more likely to buy the new jerseys you are selling.

You remember the coaching search? The Jet Set. Dave and the missus, huge entourage. Heavy on the analytics and test scores, the idea that the brain could bridge the gap created by physical shortcomings. That approach fits Tepper to a T.  I don’t believe that impression was entirely fan created.

That has nothing to do with his willingness to move on. It is possible (although not proven) for him to have wanted Bryce while also being willing to move on from him if it doesn’t work out. You know who he also liked at one point? Frank Reich

There is 0 reason to think that Tepper wouldn’t support a change in QB if it came down to it

I would bet money that only 2 of the Panthers draft picks this year work out for them, if they're lucky.

Hopefully the Panthers don't just draft good players - they keep them, which is one of the biggest problems with this team.  We only have 8 players (out of 29 picks) drafted between 2018-22 still on the team.

Think about how many guys had long careers with us back in the day.  Peppers, Gamble, Davis, Gross, Kasay, Hoover, DeAngelo, Stewart, Kalil, Wharton... I could go on and on.  Now we're lucky if we get 5 years out of a player.

I get some of that was due to Hurney being insanely loyal to home talent, which comes with its own issues. But it felt good to root for a team with players you have been supporting for years.

Tepper isn't that stubborn.  He has shown that he'll stick with something, but only for so long.  He's 110% committed to something until he isn't, and its like a light switch.  If Bryce doesn't play any better this year, I bet Tepper will be ready to move on.

Yeah, I don't get this fan-created narrative that Tepper has or will have some super-attachment to Bryce and won't let the coaches move on.

Say what you want about Tepper but all this team has done since he's become owner is move on.  If Bryce shows no improvement, then I'm sure the first thing the team will do is explore options to move on.

Why would a team trade for #33 without knowing who's available?

What?  The first and second round are on different days.  We have the first pick of the 2nd round.  Panthers can trade the pick the day of the 2nd round before it officially starts.  Teams will know who is available at #33 once Night One is over.

If the Panthers plan on trading #33, then I think they will (and would be wise) to do it before night two of the draft starts.  That way they can strategize with their new draft position or negotiate with more teams.

We're gonna be on the clock for a looooooong time at #33. We'd be crazy not to listen to the offers coming in.

If the Panthers have any intentions of trading #33, I think it will happen before they get on the clock, not after.  Same reason any deal for the #1 pick is usually before the draft. No reason to wait and it would be to the Panthers advantage to trade the pick ASAP, if that is their intention, so they can start building a strategy for whatever pick(s) they end up with.

If the Panthers are on the clock at #33, then I think that means they will stick with it

  9. I really think the Panthers should consider adding a RB in the draft.  Maybe not with one of our 2nd round picks, but adding someone with more burst and receiving ability than what we have on the roster (Hubbard & Sanders) could do a lot for Bryce's development and Canales offense which had White finish with over 300 touches.  And who knows, maybe we will get lucky and snag one of those late-round RBs who turns out to be a stud from day one.

Injuries aside, Williams's strength is defintiely downfield jump balls. What is Bryce going to do with a guy like that?

So what, should the Panthers just give up rather than surrounding him with the best possible talent to see what they have in him?

And even if Bryce continues to suck, wouldn't it be nice to already have good players here for if we have to transition to a new QB in 2025?

I'm not even saying I want Williams but this logic doesn't make any sense.  Maybe Bryce can't do anything with someone who can get downfield, but we won't know for sure unless we try and surround him with guys like that.  And if he fails, then at least we have talent in place for the next QB.

He's 29 and can't stay healthy. He's a slightly better version than DJ Chark and probably twice the price.

This is disrespectful towards Mike.  He's way better than DJ Chark.

I don't neccessarily want him either due to the aforementioned health concerns. But he's definitely better than Chark.

  12. Yeah, Thielen wasn't good. His numbers were what they were because of sheer volume and playing all 17 games.

I'm cool with bringing him back if we're going to pay him anyway.  But he needs to be the #3 WR and really should be the 4th or 5th option (RB and/or TE) in the passing game at this stage

  13. I'd rather wait and see if the Chargers end up releasing Joey Bosa or Khalil Mack.  They have to do something today because they are over the cap.

Bosa is a bit too injury prone for my liking, but Mack would be an amazing signing to help instill a new, tough culture.

  14. The truth that very few people want to accept is that the defense wasn't good last year.  It just wasn't more obvious because teams had no incentive to go all out and score against us.  We were the least-thrown against defense in the NFL, and it ain't because we have lockdown corners.

There is a reason why in the 4 games we scored 20+ points in, we gave up 37, 42, 42, and 33 points respectively.  When teams wanted to score, they did.
