    loving the revisionist history

What am I revising?  Has it not been widely reported that the Texans wanted Bryce had they picked first?  This is common knowledge, but maybe it isn't common for you.

Please, enlighten me.  What evidence do you have that suggests the Panthers pivoted from Stroud to Bryce because of the test?  How did Stroud have his stock damaged and yet still go No. 2 overall?

  2. Why do people continue to act as if the test hurt Stroud's stock?  He went 2nd overall.  Bryce was generally considered the frontrunner long before the test came out (although yes some people had Stroud over him, but nobody changed their mind about that because of some test).  And there is nothing at all to suggest the test played any role in who the Panthers preferred first.

70 percent of the horrors we see today are because that man who could never take blame himself and blamed others for his teams shortcomings, Matt truly was a dickhead to work with.

The decision-making for this team got 20x worse after Matt Rhule got fired, so who really knows.

I fully expect Burns to be tagged and traded. Fitts couldn't do it. Not after he turned down that ludicrous offer from the Rams. We're not getting anything close to that. But now that that blunder won't be hanging over the new regime's heads they can afford to take significantly less.

What are we saying is significantly less?

Sweat went for a 2nd round pick, but he's older and less productive than Burns.  Frank Clark who was similar in age and production to Burns went to KC for a 1st and conditional 2nd (KC/SEA swapped 3rds).

I don't see any reason why we shouldn't get or expect at least a 1st round pick.

  5. Rivera had to change his ways to stay here.  It was that 2013 Bills game that turned me on him.  We were up 20-17.  It was 4th and 1 at their 21.  We had Cam Newton, Mike Tolbert, and Williams (Stew was hurt).  Instead of going for it, we kicked a FG and ended up losing the game.

A process, like maybe a vision for an identity? Not just like trading around for random fa's or moving back in the draft for fun? We'll see if Tepper has the patience, the 6 year contract means nothing to him.

One positive (on paper) is that we finally have a HC and GM that are aligned.  That should help a lot with making moves that make sense.

I'm really not buying the Tepper tax thing with an unproven rookie HC that couldn't even smell an interview anywhere else. Moreover, since when does Tepper care about a "cheap rate?" Nah, I ain't buying it.

Also, Tepper gave Rhule an even longer contract (7 years).  Reich probably would have gotten longer than a 4-year contract if he hadn't been 61 years old.

I'd be floored with Evans signed with us under any circumstances. At his age he'll be ring chasing and I can't imagine he won't have plenty of contending teams vying for his services. Signing with a 2-win team makes zero sense regardless as to how much you loved your OC that you knew for 6 months.

People said the same thing about DeAndre Hopkins and he signed with the Titans.

Players will generally sign with the team offering them the best contract.  Yeah they want to win but they also want to get paid, and Mike Evans has already won a ring.  So he has even more incentive than Hopkins to take the best deal presented to him.  And I don't think it would be shocking at all to see Evans go with the team employing his former OC as head coach.

  9. We may as well have kept Frank Reich if we're going to hire Mike Vrabel.  Vrabel strikes me as the kind of coach that everyone thinks is good for reasons, but couldn't actually name what he does on gameday that makes the Titans better.  So they just cite his leadership and whatnot.

When you consider the Titans were largely feasting on bad AFC South teams, they were largely average under him.  In 6 years, only twice did their offense finish in the top 10 (and this is with Derrick Henry).  Same for their defense (he also sucked as a DC in Houston).  They finished with 10+ wins only twice in 6 years, and in those 2 seasons, they got bounced in their first playoff game without scoring 20 points in either.

And to me, it is telling that NFL fans are higher on Mike Vrabel than Titans fans are.

well, let's take a look at Adam Peters.   He and Morgan entered their roles as assistant GMs at the same time.

Peters? People were looking at him for GM jobs after 2021.  They were looking at him again after 2022.   They were looking at him again, this year.

Yes, Adam Peters was/is a better candidate than Dan Morgan.

I'm not trying to sell you on Dan Morgan.  I'm just saying your point that Dan Morgan hadn't interviewed with anyone else this cycle really doesn't mean much.  There were only 3 teams with open GM spots that could/would have interviewed him.  1 got their guy immediately and 2 (Chargers) are going to ultimately pick the GM that Harbaugh wants.  So yeah, it hasn't gotten talked about because it doesn't mean much.

Now yes I'm sure you can list a litany of reasons as to why Dan Morgan isn't a good hire.  And I might agree with you on some.  I just don't think that particular point shows or proves anything.
