So went to 72 from 65, that's the same block/tier. It's all about what we gained. Really not a big deal folks. A high third for a high third.

Kneeland, Franklin, Tampa, Colson, both Wilsons, Cade Stover, Braswell, some interesting talent out there and not far to go until 65.

Adonai Mitchell is going to be very good in Steichen’s offense. He made a lot of plays for Texas last year. More polished route runner than Legette by a thousand times. Panthers make the wrong pick again.
He's a good compliment to Pittman while Downs works the slot. Pierce can come in for 4 WR sets. Their WR room looks great for Richardson.

One thing I'll add:
Some of the teams that it would be fine to emulate have invested in RBs. Detroit, Buffalo, Seattle, LAR, MIA, PIT, SF don't shy away from RB investments. I don't think this whole stigma of not taking one early has merit. Yes, you can find them later more often than other positions, but that fact doesn't change the impact of the top prospects at the spot.

Where are these Debbie Downers coming from? Are they Cicadas? You get the best RB in the draft vs. the 10th best CB. I wanted the LB. However, a RB that can catch better that Chuba, block better than Chuba, and run better than Chuba--behind our new guards---I see it.
Yeppp-- not to mention the roads Hunt carved for Mostert & Achane last year. Brooks should be licking his chops.

If we're truly trying to just collect weapons, let's keep it going. Don't have far to go until our next pick and there's still some very good talent on the board. It drops like a MFer in the 4th, could see us moving around again. But wouldn't mind staying pat at 65.

We've got a new centerpiece RB:
Jonathan Brooks
Texas | 6'0 207 | 4.45 | All-Around Workhorse Back w/Receiving Skills
I've seen comps to Gurley and Charles. Some copy pasta:
PFF:
QuoteBrooks is an ideal blend of size, speed, strength and agility. Though limited in snap totals, he has good vision in both gap and zone run schemes. If he can get back to form following his torn ACL, he has all the goods to be a starting running back in the NFL.
Quote- Impressive wiggle for a back of his size.
- Nice footwork and change-of-direction for a back over 200 lbs.
- Good vision/feel for zone-blocking schemes.
- Contact balance is great at high and low speeds.
- Natural instincts for forcing missed tackles.
- Long speed isn't elite, but the burst is at his size.
- Natural hands in the receiving game.
- Has the footwork and strength/balance to be a reliable blocker.
10 TDs, 1400 total yards in 11 games
Brooks, a decorated Texas high school football player, had to wait his turn behind the likes of Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson before taking over as the Longhorns’ lead back in 2023. The wait appeared to be worth it, as he looked like a future NFL star as just a redshirt sophomore.
While his footwork isn’t quite Robinson’s level, he can cut/change direction/avoid tacklers very quickly and has an explosive first step. He isn’t a nuanced route runner, but he has good hands and showcased his ability to force missed tackles as a receiver. The only glaring negative on his scouting report is a torn ACL in 2023 that ended his lone season as a starter.

8 picks to go
Cooper, Colson, AD, Tampa, Sainistril, Roman Wilson, Benson, Wilson, Kneeland, some high end talent available
-
Got our 2025 second back for a guy likely in the same block we’d be picking at 39. Plus a 5th. Not too shabby

Diana Russini is talking about GMs around the league right now and how blown away they all were about the whole thing. "No one knows how they're going to live in this" "Cousins' camp is not happy"

I feel Canales is probably different in the locker room. Probably more intensity I'm guessing.
It's incremental. We went from the flailing, shady megachurch pastor in Rhule to the elder chaplain in Reich, now we're onto the youthful pastor.
Canales talks like a guy from a comedy movie that would be doing a parody of a youth pastor lol.
I'm sure he's much more leveled off in that locker room...hopefully lol

Not sure about 39 but Benson is legit. I would have him only behind Jacobs, Bijan, Gibbs, & Hall as a prospect, looking back since-2019. Would add a whole new dimension to our offense. Canales had Baker toss what 70 balls to White last year? That's not happening with Chuba.
Have sneakily been expecting this which is why I wouldn't get too bent out of shape.

I think that's smart for SF to explore instead of Aiyuk. Aiyuk is one of the cleanest players in the game today. He's excellent at so much and just crisp.
Not to mention, J-Jennings could be an excellent #2 there if they give him the chance. Aiyuk, Jennings, Pearsall could be a solid group still in tact and they get some good value for Deebo while they still can.

Seriously... Juan should be banned from posting twitter links if he's just going to post the links and not let them load into the posts first.
It's not that hard, more frustrating than just the idiots on here who post the most unrealistic ideas/situations.
Yeah, I can only keep editing his posts for so long lol

a top center would be aces. If we dont go center at some point and when corbett goes down, this entire revamped line is at the mercy of whoever they sign off the street
Ah - yeah I got sucked in thinking only about defense haha. Totally fair.

we need a starter at 39
Just depends I suppose how you qualify starter when there's a NB who can play the star role that would be in there at a higher snap % than some technical starters.
There's about 7-9 always out there--Both ILBs, two starting S, two outside CBs, 2 of the 3 DL, 1 of the two EDGE guys. Our remaining edge rotation and 3rd-4th DBs are still pretty much starters.
But sure, if we have an outside corner we love, I imagine that would take precedent (I.E. Kool-Aid or Tampa). Same goes if they think Kneeland is a 3-down guy.

Pre-shows are beginning. Let's get some good ole' rabble rabble rabble going.
Our outstanding, super revered, perennial winning Panthers hold 2 picks. #39 in the 2nd and the first pick in the 3rd, #65.

Ok I’m sold! Gimme!
Not everyone will be fans of a slot corner early, but I'm personally sold on the player.
Thing is, ILB is critical for our two-high shell. They need to be fast sideline to sideline, be able to close in quickly, hover all over and Shaq coming off injury scares me.
Colson or Cooper could make a lot of sense. Don't know how we'd do if we're looking at journeymen at LB this year. Very important for the Fangio disciple defenses.

I haven’t heard this before, what were the character concerns?
Brugler said he heard things "about his character" from squads after the Senior Bowl. He may have interviewed poorly. Got all the momentum after the Senior Bowl, but then did the opposite once teams started meeting him and flying him for private-30s

2024 NFL Draft: Rounds 2 & 3
in Carolina Panthers

It's more value and they think they're getting the same value at 72. We have the first pick in the 4th so you could use that to trade back up into the third. Capital is capital. At least we're not losing it like Fitt did. Just josslin' the menu to our fixings.
