Im all for starting rookie QB's to get that learning curve out of the way and take advantage of the rookie wages.. but at this point we have to sit him the rest of the year. We cannot afford him to get hurt at the end of this season, impacting the start of next when we WILL have a new scheme and coaching staff..
I think this is officially a worse year then the 'Pickles' year.. and I watched ALL those games.

I hope the oline dominates this weekend just for the comedic factor.

Why are we even debating this.. This would never be allowed just by rules of the salary cap.
Andrew Brandt did a podcast talking about how dumb of an idea this is.. if you want to get into depth of that I suggest you listen to it.

At least half of this board could run the team better than the Teppers. Looking like all of the actual ownership already does in the NFL.
At least half of this board cannot afford a game ticket, nevermind ownership of a team.

Yeah as crap as it is here Stroud could still hit some of the shots that have been missed.
It's bad here but if you think that is the same as the bad it would be with Stroud then you have a lot more disappointment coming over the rest of this and next season.
I think we would be having a different conversation if our WR's caught some of the deep passes that Young threw as well..
-
I honestly think this all boils down to the massive regression of the oline. We left last season thinking that would be a strength going in to the season. So the entire scheme was built on that assumption.

Bryce has proven he can be a winner. Literally everyone else on the team has not. Im finally ok with firing all the coaching staff and the GM and rebuilding this thing around Bryce... like we have a choice anyway..

So you finally admit that Sanders sucks and offensive philosophy behind signing him was donkey brained
I dont think the offensive philosophy behind the signing was a bad one. I think the idea was to be able to play a spread offence and let Bryce be the distributor of the ball. This I believe was built on the believe that the oline would continue as it finished last year, which was a strength of the team.
The oline is in shambles and thus there is zero time to throw. Coupled by the fact that the WR's cannot get seperation we have what we are watching.
Its made worse by the fact that even we take deep shots, the WR's tend to breakoff their routes early because they know the pressure that gets to Bryce, which is why we have seen over thrown balls on deep shots often. Bryce us throwing the ball to where they should be..
Overall its a mess. Its really hard to watch.. I'll continue to watch but its not an enjoyable experience..

Electric player. Has some juice. Over hyped during pre draft and he has not quite lived up to it. Still he hopefully has a spot on the roster and can do something on special teams and in rotation at RB. These are the plays we need to make. Tremble instead of Hurst, Blackshear getting reps, a Sullivan sighting, Chuba in place of Miles, Moton at left tackle and Ikey at RT. It wasn't working before gotta shake it up. We didn't bring anybody in at trade deadline so... We got what we got let's see what we got.
Probably just dreaming at this point but I would love to see #88 start getting snaps in place of Chark.

WTF!
A slap in the face to Luke. How quickly we forget Luke was the best defensive player in the league at his peak for multiple years.
Luvu is not that kind of talent sorry.
Slow down there.. hes not calling him Luke, but he is saying that was a Luke(esk) type performance... which is was.

Madden GM at it again.
This real life bro. There is no trade to make when you have the worst team in football. No one trade is helping us.
We can discuss these dream trade scenarios in the off-season. Back to real life football.

By that point, the going rate for QBs could be 75 mil a year.

Here's the thing people get caught up in. Everyone is comparing 30m to the deals signed before Bosa reset the market for edges.
In 2 years 30m for an edge is going to be 5th or 6th in pay at best. So he would be taking 2nd tier pass rush money at 30m.
If people are freaking out now, I cannot imagine this place when Young signs his second deal. We haven't had to pay QB's for a while.
-
Im totally ok paying Burns 30 a year.
We got lot of cap and a rookie QB. This is the time to pay our non QB players. This is 'textbook' our window to acquire and retain talent.

He will be in the league a long time with his current tape, I think. He just is starting to look like he’ll never be the player he couldve been but could still improve a secondary and be really good.
Almost reminds of TDs early injury misfortune. Still ended up being a hell of a player but maybe not what he could have been.
Good perspective.

Im excited for the future still guys. Yeah its tough right now but I feel like the long term is positive.
Our OC is widely regarded as a stud, so Im excited to see him get his opportunity.
Our DC has a good track record. Last 2 games have been tough but I think thats mostly because the offence was not supporting them.
Things have been rough, really rough. But lets not forget that most people only saw us as a 5-6 win team. Looking at the rest of the schedule we have a pretty good shot of getting that. We actually have a pretty good chance to win the next 3 and build up those positive vibes.
Likely we will make some big moves in the offseason.
Im in it for the long haul. We will be just fine.

... the current owner of the Broncos had not bought the team before the trade was made ...
But quite honestly I dont get the hate with Tepper. He wants to win and will make big moves to win. I would rather swing big than not at all. Also guess what?! If Reich sucks, Tepper will move on. The contract wont keep him from continually pushing for excellence.
You guys all complain about inaction with Richardson, now you complain about an owner that takes action. This place makes my head spin.

There was a few plays against Detroit that Bryce did a great job at moving in the pocket as it was collapsing to make a throw. There’s still a good bit of QB’s that instinctively bail when they need to move from their initial spot. That’s not Bryce.
I’d just love to see this kid gain some weight/muscle. It would help generate more arm strength. Maybe he breaks an arm tackle or two a game and is able to extend a play. I think they need to get more aggressive on offense and just let Young learn that way
Agree 100% my fellow Manitoba.
At this point why not open things up. We are not winning the division. Use the rest of the year to see what the team is good at and build on that for next year.
Reich should hand over the play calling - as he always said he will do, and give that experience to the OC.
2023 needs to be a foundation for 2024 - as it always should have been.

Look there are a lot of things going on.
First: You have a rookie QB. Showing one AT19 play where he’s open for a TD doesn’t make him a bad QB. If that were the case you’d have alot more examples than one play. So yea he’s going to miss guys from time to time. All QBs do, especially rookies. Good teams create more chances and once we start doing that he’ll hit some of those.
Second: WRs aren’t winning their battles. AT19 gives us the best chance and he’s just more crafty than fast. We desperately need a big play threat. This will come. Diggs, Hill, and now Moore dropped into offenses with struggling QBs and things change. Be patient. Cam had this early on.
Third: The offensive line is trash. There are plays that are there that the QB just doesn’t have enough time to get to. You can’t play QB with a line you can’t trust. Especially with a rookie. Cam at least had Kalil and Gross early on that could get protections corrected when he didn’t see it.
Lastly: The scheme hasn’t been great. We’ve put too much on Bryce and have provided him with very few answers to the defense. As a result he’s simply taking what the defense is giving him. What you saw in Dalton was a guy playing free because he knew it didn’t matter how he played. We have Bryce thinking too much right now. The coaches have to put him in better spots and be less predictable in their play calling.
I honestly don’t see any of this getting solved this year. I think Bryce will get better. He’ll learn to adapt to his situation. I still think year 3 is probably when you can expect this team to be a legitimate contender.
A rational answer. I appreciate this post.

If we fire Reich this season, who will want to come here to coach? The entire league knows we have a bad roster. THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. Could we be coached better? Yes but firing him will do more damage long term than any good.
I agree that Frank needs to hand over the play calling however.

I want our offensive coordinator to do the job he was given, all this hype coming into the season - let's see it.
This was always the plan and Reich knows this. He just needs to be the HC.

CityNerd: I Visited the World Capital of Sprawl, and I Have Thoughts
in Huddle Lounge
Posted
As a land developer 'sprawl' is a mixed word.
Sprawl is usually referred in a negative way as it insinuates things being spread out and being ineffective. But I would argue that most citys that are not land locked against a mountain or ocean need to accept sprawl because people dont want to build up.
A land planners wet dream would be to have an entire city only take up 1 square mile and be 1 mile in elevation but thats not the reality for most cities in North America.
