This is probably a guy who should have faded into the limelight after his playing days were over. Even when he was playing it was better when he didn’t talk too much because something stupid was bound to come out of his mouth. Not sure that giving him a bigger microphone is the solution.

The offensive line coaches have been incredible. Both Cade Mays and Chandler Zavala looked horrendous last year, and they played above-average this year.
I'm ok with resigning Mays and Corbett to an incentive deal. I think between that we should have it covered. Maybe a Day 3 pick also.
We need to spend most of our draft capital on defense obviously
Icky too. He was playing at bust levels last year and looked a lot better this year. I think Campen was spending more time starting drama in the front office than actual coaching.

As long as Ian Thomas finally gets cut I don’t really care what we do at TE.

In 2021 the Lions had all 3 of their wins between December and January. The next year they had 9 wins, and have trended up ever since. I’m not saying we are the Lions, they built there D up and learned to play defensive football no matter who is on the field. Bryce Young has proved over the back half of the year why he was the number 1 overall pick.
Last year he was put into the worst position in the league. Sacked the most, brand new head coach and all offensive coaches fired mid way through the year. He has proven that he is clutch this year. Anyone doubting him just refuses to be wrong. Gas light yourself. The doubters are the ones still crying to bring Cam back.
I was a huge hater and doubter through the Denver game and still uncertain but willing to change my mind after the Giants win. The games that were played after that made me think that he's the guy. Even his bad games, against Dallas and Tampa, were nowhere near the level of bad that we saw in the first 20 or so starts. He made big throws under pressure, led game-winning drives, and at times put the team on his back and will them to a victory. If not for our shitty defense we would have beaten Kansas City. If not for Leggette not being able to catch we had a lead at Philly with less than a minute left and their coach not having the confidence to try 50+ yard field goals so I like our chances to win that one too. We win the Tampa game without Hubbard's untimely fumble. That essentially puts us at .500 for the season and right in the thick of the race. Pretty good considering we had the worst defense in NFL history.

Does the player matter when it was essentially a convo about it being unrealistic to expect several really good games over a long stretch of starts?
its clearly not made up. Its game logs from a handful of starts in a rookie season. Which was basically a host of games like yesterday from a QB in just part of a season. Cherry picking and finding good games is what you can do for everyone that eventually plays a lot. We could add that dude this offseason if we wanted. Any team could.
point is not to get too carried away yet. He is still a very inconsistent young player
Yes, of course it matters if you're going to cite historical examples to prove a point and then not say who you're talking about. Unless your source is "trust me, bro."

Point is, it's not far fetched lunacy to expect young QBs that play to give you some big time games over the course of time if they get lot of opportunity. Good QBs do it. Middle of the road QBs do it. Even bad QBs eventually have big games if given enough opportunity.
all the games ultimately matter when you are evaluating a QB. Team wanted that guy posted above to be THE guy. I mean, if you cherry pick his young start vs Bryce's young start....he is a GOAT. Doing what Bryce did Sunday over and over in a smaller window.
Whose stat line are you referencing or are you just making something up?

352 pass yards (67%) , 5 pass TDs
332 pass yards (68%), 4 pass TDs
308 pass yards (65%), 4 pass TDs
336 pass yards (63%), 4 total TDs pass TDs
I mean, that's a dude that started 12 games his rookie year.
Who are you talking about?

You can’t set a record for points allowed in a season and keep your job. He did the same poo in the cowboys game with Xavier Woods covering Lamb and we got killed that game too.

Did you not read that these career bests happen for a majority of QBs 1 to 2 times in their career? Top 10 championship caliber QBs get 1 or 2 per season.
As for you claiming career games, let's set the standard at 3+ TDs or 300+ yard and 2 TDs. Setting the bar low for Bryce is ridiculous, because back up QBs can do what Bryce does. Bryce has 4 in 2 seasons. I expect 6 minimum in 1 season. That's between Kyle Allen with 4 and Beuerlein with 8. QBs that can make it to a conference championship game consistently produce 10+ (these are the QBs you can build a dyansty around). Nick Foles was capable of doing 1 of every 2 games in a season like Beuerlein.
Now you know. Maybe adjust your lowered expectations?
Why stop there since you are making up stats? Let’s go with something really unattainable. 600 yards and 7 TDs every game or you’re just backup level.

The trip to lambeau in 2019 was fun, especially with the snow. Might have to make it again.

Point being what exactly? The corollary here of course is that if he had been challenged sooner instead of anointed and not challenged, he would have performed better throughout his career. Which is almost what I'm suggesting the team continue to consider with Bryce...
Craziness, I know. I mean, who would think that a guy that clearly benefitted from competition might still benefit from some degree of it in the formative years of his career?
Mahomes wasn’t drafted for competition. He was taken to be the franchise QB. Smith was sent to Washington the following year.

Alex Smith had an aberrant season with 26 passing TDs the year they drafted Mahomes as well, a.k.a. clear competition. That is an example of why I think Carolina would be remiss to take all competition off the table at this point. Need to keep things rolling strong into next season.
Bro, that was his 12th year in the league…

Yeah, you just use their careers. Everything.
We are only allowed to talk about Bryce through the lense of like 4 games
Stop being such a miserable twat

Some of the most UNINSPIRING football in Panthers history was last year under Frank Reich
this is the first offseason in a long time I can actually be OPTIMISTIC about the direction of the team.
where CJ Stroud had the sophomore slump, Young has the sophomore jump and I think much of this can be attributed to Dave Canales
this is the first offseason in a long time I know who’s going to be our coach and QB next season
He should have been fired for wearing that hat alone.

This is the best game of his career & it took Bryce 28 starts to do what Dalton did in his 2nd start as a Panther.
Consistency is needed. Can't go 5 games to have 1 win like this. That's why I refer to Bryce as flash & crash. This was Penix's 2nd start. Is Penix a franchise QB after looking good?
Let's hope this is Bryce's coming out game. Can't get thumped by the Saints, Bucs & Cowboys over a 12 game season only to hang your hat on a Falcons OT win. He had 3 OT wins against teams that didn't make the playoffs & 1 close win against another team that didn't make the playoffs.
The hope right now is that Bryce is good enough to consistently split wins with the losing teams in the NFC South.
He's still at the bottom of NFL starters with new rookies coming in & veteran backups as good of not better than Bryce.
He's below Mayfield, Carr, Cousins and possibly Penix (too early, but better start to career) in the NFC South.
Caleb Williams, Daniel Jones & Kyler Murray were the worst starters for their NFC division. Bryce has had to improve to be on par with them & those 3 may still have the edge on Young.
The worst starters in the AFC were Gardner Minshew, Will Levis, Derek Maye & Deshaun Watson.
I'd take Bryce over Minshew, Levis & maybe Jones. I'd also take some backups over Bryce. Then you have the QBs in the next draft who will challenge Bryce quickly.
I fully expect hype from his best game leading to confusion & excuses for Bryce as to why the Panthers continue to lose next season.
Some of yall are extremely dumb if you truly believe some of the poo that you post here.

That’s a guy in complete control of his game. What a turnaround.

Also very impressed with Canales. He might have pulled a McVay/Goff type turnaround with young.

He wasn't my first pick but his resurrection was amazing and unexpected. To score 44 points against a team fighting for their playoff lives with a bunch of backups was far from promising. It was the best quarterback play by a Panther QB in several years. And to beat the dirty birds at their home in overtime with a walkout TD is the stuff of panther legends. Bryce put the team on his shoulders and decided if we keep scoring we can't lose. I am still on board to draft a QB if a great one is there but Bryce had one of the best QB days from a scoring production point of view as any in franchise history.
This team has way too many other needs to draft a QB with the way the second half of the season has gone.

Evero has to go. He absolutely cannot be back next season.

There’s too many other issues not to keep the few promising defensive players that we do have. Jackson and Horn both need to be rewarded this offseason with contracts. We need major help (in order) at edge, interior DL, linebacker, and safety. Morgan needs to sign 3-4 high impact defensive free agents and go heavy defense in the draft, while also looking for more help at receiver and center. That’s where my focus would be.
