I'm all for removing as much human ref element as possible. NFL isn't so bad, but some NBA and MLB refs/umps go out of their way to be egotistical and "i'm better than you, look at what I can do" like a macho corrupt cop in the south

That said, it would be nice to have a thread about OTA's that don't turn into Bryce bashing by the same 4 posters that have to be heard in every thread, even if its not about Bryce.
It's just annoying and this thread is not the place.

Panther fans have zero patience. Imagine being a Hornets fan and never winning a playoff series in 20+ years since their freakin team moved from the city to New Orleans of all places.

I mean truthfully thats not out the question, its already be stated most elite Qbs dont need everything to be great around them to succeed. Let say hypothetically XL lives up to the hype, Sanders shows why he was top TE in draft, Brooks becomes one of the best RBs in the league and the O line is top 5 based off all the money spent. That could be good enough to get you to a Superbowl without needing a QB to carry the team. Plus its already been said we will be a run heavy team so they are trying to take as much pressure off bryce as possible not give him way more responsibility. That clearly didnt work out to well last year and led to another staff overhaul. As of right now, relying on Bryce could cost people their jobs so its understandable if the coaches and other players are the catalyst for any success.
What on earth are you talking about. Only Mahomes can not have everything great around him and succeed. Do you think Josh Allen would have succeeded with that supporting cast last year with the Panthers? They were so far behind all the good teams at WR, TE, RB, and OL.
Burrow needs Chase and Higgins. Herbert still hasn't succeeded despite way better OL and WR play than the Panthers. Literally every team ever, besides Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Mahomes needs players around him to succeed. Are you holding out hope we get that caliber of QB? It's not like they grow on trees.

Defense is fine. Evero being back is the most important thing for the defense. He will have them playing solid and the drop off from Burns to Clowney is negligible (if not and improvement, becuase Burns was lost on run support). Horn if he plays is way better than what we had last season and I do think they'll still bring in Gilmore or a vet once we get closer to week 1.
Team's win total focuses solely on Bryce and putting up points and Legette, Johnson and Mingo improving. I wonder if Canales will get Bryce out of the pocket and roll him out more where Bryce is much better. Reich and Brown seemed hell bent in making Bryce learn from the pocket where he wasn't comfortable. Also more Bryce runs/scrambles to keep the defense honest.

I put 50 down on 20/1 odds to win the division on draftkings. I thought those odds were ridiculous considering how weak the division is. Falcons suck. Bucs and Saints have bad coaching and are mediocre. Multiple times there have been worst-to-first champions of the NFCS.

You can say this about every team in the nfc south
agreed, which is why if Bryce gets his poo together the division is for the taking. Even with Bryce sucking we were in every NFC South game last year

yep, a tortured longtime Hornets and Panthers fan

Falcons suck. They are about to mega bust. Kirk Cousins is a fake stats guy, when have you ever been scared of a Kirk Cousins team

No Thursday games is fantastic. Injuries go way up, games are closer because of lack of time.. its a huge blessing

That's got to be the easiest first 10 games in history. The Bengals are the only good team
Saints, Bucs and Falcons are overrated and very beatable
Too bad we likely won't capitalize.

Here's a tough thread to watch through
They have Levis and AR as well if you wish to go further into the thread
Interesting, quite a few posters here parrot constantly that "Bryce didn't make a single NFL throw this past season", yet he sure did bullet a lot of passes in tight windows. If you watch that whole clip, its easy to see how bad the receivers were last year. And his intermediate throws don't look any worse than Stroud, he just has footwork problems to address

Again I ask. What makes you think this off season is the one he works on his mechanics? I mean they are what they are now and God knows how many times I am going to bitch at him hopping in the pocket this season. He has had elite coaching since 8th grade and this is what he is still doing.
Because it worked for him at every level until this past season. And if he doesn’t he knows he’s reached the end of his career (as a starter at least)
-
Nobody still really knows about his future, the NFL is so unpredictable. There's a chance Bryce comes out and has fixed a lot of his mechanics and zips the ball at high accuracy from 10-20 yards. There's a chance he doesn't and he's not the answer. We'll know by October.

Robert Hunt was considered the 2nd best guard in football last year, and Lewis in the 30's. Carolina's guards were both in the 65-75th range, which is hilarious becuase there are 64 starting spots

Can you imagine Rhule saying any of that lol

I will say this about XL. He looks the part more than Mingo or TMJ ever did. More fluid than Funchess. Little less fluid than rookie Kelvin Benjamin, but probably more top end speed

I bet he wants 8+ million AND a team with a playoff roster.
Dan should just look at other options, including future cuts.
NFL players don't care about playoffs when joining a team. It's 90% most money, 10% best fit/playing time
-
One thing XL has going for him is he has a superstar name. Legette is such a badass last name. Reminds me of Legate Lanius from Fallout New Vegas, one of the best games ever made

Remember in the 2020 draft Justin Jefferson was the fifth receiver selected.
Henry Ruggs, Jalen Reagor, and Jerry Jeudy were selected ahead of him.
Every year there are WR's selected high who bust. Nobody really knows, not even NFL scouts.
XL could absolutely be better than either Marvin Harrion, Nabers or Rome.

History says one of MHJ, Rome or Nabers will be an absolute bust, so it's not out of the realm of possibilty. Keyshawn Johnson is a good comp for Marvin Harrison Jr. Solid, but not spectacular

Walterfootball has 3 QB's in the top 5 for 2025. I know things change during the season but theres a good chance Aller and Sanders will be better. If the Panthers are picking top 2 again, they are taking a QB. Comeon now

Panthers.com posted this? David Tepper is gonna take this down. I mean did they even read it?
QuoteThe Panthers foolishly drafted Bryce Young over C.J. Stroud over last year despite all the coaches wanting Stroud to be the pick. Whoops. The Panthers are stuck with Young because David Tepper thought he knew more than the football guys he hired, so they have no choice but to build up their supporting cast to carry Young. Adding a running back, a receiver, and an offensive line would help tremendously.

The draft is very luck based. Teams can consistently draft archetype players to succeed in right situations like the Steelers and Ravens but in reality its a coinflip whether any player in the 3rd thru 7th rounds is an NFL player. Doesn't matter who you take.
There's probably an alternate universe where Eric Shelton was a pro-bowl RB for the Packers and Joe Adams lead the league in kickoff/punt TD's for 3 straight years

Walterfootball had him as a 3rd round prospect

Caleb Williams is struggling big time in OTAs
in Carolina Panthers

He strikes me as a lackadaisical type that doesn't really care about the game or putting in the work but has a lot of effortless talent so he has been able to skate on by
Chicago always blows their offensive picks. Its an epidemic. Wouldn't surprise me if Rome busts too
