Dalton is extremely slow. Moving, processing; everything. I’ve never seen a QB this slow

How many yards did Andy pass for in the first quarter? I was told it would be way more than Bryce
-
I thought Andy was going to rejuvenate the team because “he can make all the throws” and “throw for 300 yards”

Can't wait for this 40+ pass attempt game plan!
As long as Andy throws for 300 yards, its okay if the Panthers lose 42-24, am i rite

Bills rule out starting DT Jones and S Rapp, and both starting linebackers didn't practice all week and are questionable. Kincaid also didn't practice all week. The Panthers should compete, they should be able to run the ball down the Bills throats.

Shame another thread derailed by irrelevant Bryce posts, he's not even playing this week

The scope of the limitations is so far beyond long bombs. Nobody here is clamoring for us just to run straight up go routes on repeat. There are crucial throws defenses know we can't convert such as down the sideline that almost always result in either the ball going several feet over the receivers head out of bounds or the receiver having to leap into the air and make an acrobatic attempt to haul it in or having to completely slow down or stop. It's off the table and defenses know it and sooner or later we were going to walk into another buzzsaw like against the Patriots.
Nobody here is in love with Hendon Hooker or Mike White. It wasn't us who made the decision to ignore the depth of the QB room two years in a row. You can whail at people for discussing it all you want. If you're that triggered by the discussion then call up Dan Morgan and bitch at him about the fact we are having to discuss the likes of Dalton Hooker or White. It isn't our fault.
I honestly think you'd genuinely want the Panthers to throw 400 yards and lose than throw for 200 yards and win. Like, everything you have posted gives me that vibe.

I remember people saying we reached for Luke. Not anyone here, but analysts.
Draft positioning only matters for QBs, and the last decade has proved that QB's taken in the draft are a complete ass coinflip, there is zero way to predict if a QB is going to be good or not. Just draft and pray you get lucky

I watched him play last night - good lord that OLine is bad.
I watched him too, and he still threw a lot of balls at the feet of the receiver when he had time or completely missed easy side outs on quick throws.
People can't say "stop moving the goalpost with Bryce, he's bad" and then also goalpost CJ. It's the same posters doing it too. CJ has just been bad. Plain and simple. A team with that defense should not be 2-4

Incredibly, the Texans may still win this.
Nope, they just said "we had enough" and gave up lol
Absolutely puzzling decision -
CJ Stroud's decline has to be studied. He was considered a top 10 QB after his rookie season, and is very clearly not a top 20 QB. He is overthrowing simple passes

Suddenly the division is very gettable

Exactly. This team cannot win a shootout with the Bills. Josh will get his on our defense. We just have to limit his time on the field. That's going to rely on our run game. If Andy throws multiple picks we do not have a chance.
The Bills are statistically worse in every way on offense to the Cowboys, and about equal to the Cowboys defense, and we just won a shootout against the Cowboys
My fear with Dalton is he is incredibly immobile in the pocket, and he cannot buy time like Bryce has to make those clutch throws. Hate on Bryce all you want, but he is pretty good at extending plays and making 4th down conversions. Andy is more “if the throw isn’t there in the first 1.5 seconds, it’s an incompletion or sack” type of QB.

I think they'll split the middle with competition. I'm fairly confident that Carolina drafts another QB next year. But not in the 1st round, but like a good measurables guy in the 3rd-5th rounds. That way, they bring in another young guy, but a mid round pick won't effect any 1st round decisions for 2027.
I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name...
Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it -

I get that. I’m just not convinced we are going to find someone mid season to make us better.
Yes, we could probably find a more better physical specimen at the position. At what cost though? Losing a locker-room? Bryce seems pretty popular and a team leader. A move like that will sour alot of the chemistry that this team finally appears to have, perhaps thanks to Bryce?
Let me be clear I’m not a Bryce defender. I think his best case is a game manager that only succeeds on teams whose identity is an elite defense and a power run game. I think he’s played good enough though to keep moving this season forward with him.
There are people on this forum that just want to see a lot of passing yards....number go up. That's all it is, really. They are thirsting for a 350-400 yard game.
The idea that Jameis Winston is going to come in and play like a star and lead us to wins is ludacris. He's the 3rd fuging string for a 2-5 team and has played horrible for years now. Sure, passing numbers will go up but you'll also get a lot of dumb plays, pick 6's, and incompletions en route to a frustrating bad offensive performance, just in a different way.
I think these people are yearning for another Delhomme situation, and the odds of that happening are very very slim. It's way more likely Howell or Jameis comes in and looks like Jack Plummer or Andy Dalton did in the preseason. There just isn't that much good quarterbacking in this league right now. And if we draft another QB in the first round, there is a good chance they bust. It's not a guaranteed carrot.
The reality is, as mediocre as Bryce has been, the risk of bringing someone else in in-season and releasing Bryce becuase you aren't happy with his current performance is staggeringly high. Don't want to re-up his contract and search for a solution in the offseason? Sure, I'm on board. Bryce hasn't been good enough to warrant a second contract. But It is very. very unlikely that bringing someone else in midseason is going to give this team more wins.-

Any Bryce defender on the coaching staff or in the front office is going to be secretly rooting for us to get utterly destroyed if he is out for the game.
The worst case scenario for any of them who still want to be starting Bryce is for it to be like when Dalton came in for him his rookie year. If he comes in and lights it up and we look like a real life NFL passing offense, it's going to be really tough to still sell Bryce to the fans or other players.
Exactly zero people on the coaching staff or front office are hoping the Panthers get utterly destroyed. This is why people can't take the constant Bryce bashing seriously. Get a clue

I wouldn't give up a Day 1 or Day 2 pick to acquire a QB this season or the next. But, I'd wouldn't hesitate at all to part with a Day 3 pick (rounds 4-7) to acquire a serviceable QB wasting his career sitting on another teams bench if I believed he had the potential:
1) to complete 65%of his passes
2) Minimize turnovers
3) threaten all 3 levels of the defense
4) eclipse 200 yards passing on a regular basis.
So, you want to trade for a top 8 pro-bowl level QB with a day 3 pick. Got it
If only it were that easy amirite-

Green Bay looks very beatable, and is frankly pretty disappointing. Would be really nice to get one win out of the next 2 games, but with Dalton we have zero chance

Honestly he can be impressive off script. I'd say his best plays have been when he's flushed but doesn't give up.
Last year it felt like he'd frequently get 20 yard completions that way. Feels a lot less common this ye
This year he has reverted to panicking in the pocket, whereas the Philly, KC, Atlanta, Tampa games last year he was much more pocket aware didn't panic when something went wrong, and moved out and escaped pressure. It's my #1 thing I hate about a QB, and why I hated Darnold when he was here (Darnold has been much better since leaving)

He's good at plays like the TD to Legette to go up 10-3.. Dalton couldn't pull something like that off. And he's been pretty good at 4th down throws in his career, like the one to Renfrow last week. But his inability to want to throw downfield coupled with the fact that the NFL meta is to have a QB that can pick up a few yards on the ground in 3rd and 4th and 1 will be his downfall

I was hoping he would be more Mushin, but he reminds me so much of Funchess. His speed hasn't translated to the NFL game yet. He can't catch with his hands yet, he also doesn't trust his hands so he jumps up to body catch which means he can't accumulate YAC. He is a little herky/jerky on the field. The problem is he's already 24, so he's behind the 8-ball. But yes, I applaud him focusing, blocking, and getting better these last few weeks. Because Week 1 he was horrendous.

Is Canales digging his own grave?
