    Say what now?

The difference is stark. Darnold attempts a lot of rudimentary throws and rarely throws people open, preferred to wait until a receiver was completely open, albeit he has a stronger arm downfield. Bryce has far better passing angles in the short and intermediate, including more zip and throwing into tight windows. The touchdown to Thielen against the Dolphins, Darnold couldn't make that throw if his life depended on it. Bryce also doesn't dance in the pocket or looked panicked which drove me crazy.

Teddy too only attempted basic throws and couldn't throw downfield, but had much faster zip than Bryce on short throws so I'll give him that. It wouldn't take much improvement this year for Bryce to be the best QB we've had since 2017 like I said

  2. Despite all the negativity, Bryce made throws last season that Bridgewater or Darnold just can't do. That's what gives me a sliver a hope for this season...if Bryce can fix mechanics to limit the mistakes he'll still be the best QB we've had since 2017. It's not a high bar, but its a bar.

My contention has always been that Bryce is "one of the most physically limited, fundamentally flawed QBs ever" in the NFL, and that Bryce defenders have laughably low standards and are barely sentient.

Your contention..... since 5 hours ago? There's a high chance you loved the Bryce pick and just made a new account to scrub your post history and try to prove to everyone that, as Snape would say, you are an insufferable know-it-all and "knew it all along". It wouldn't be the first time on this forum.

2.7 seconds. If he can get the ball out in under 2.7 accurately to the medium and short routes then they can have a better offense than we saw last year.

Someone said he only had 1.5. That happened more than it should have but that was not the norm for the majority of the snaps. Maybe spending $153 million buys a little better than the weak players mostly involved in those 1.5 fails.

Maybe Corbett sucks as a C but let’s at least wait a couple of outings to declare it. If he is adequate at best the OL might become an asset as the year passes. Looking at you Icky. How they help him will be a big part of how well they can operate. I think he needs a lot of help. People were beating him with quickness you have to help him. Unless he just morphs into reliable.

I do think it’s on Young to protect his tackles and himself by making shallower dropbacks. Canales looks to be taking charge of QB operating procedure and pushing it more conventional which I am for.

Question on Young, what is he really good at? Because Canales keeps saying he is going to find what Young is good at and lean into that. So whatever he does best along with handing off plenty seems like the plan.

I get afraid when he throws a shallow to the sideline pass of any distance, so they’ll probably do a lot of that.

The Panthers rarely even attempted crossing routes and quick slants last year. It was all outs and screens. It made no sense whatsoever. Either Reich tried to stick it to the organization for going with Bryce, Reich was too stubborn and out of touch, or they simply didn't trust him to make those throws, which doesn't make sense because the few times they did, Bryce lasered the ball in and is generally super accurate within 10 yards.

I believe Bryce can be successful in a Brees style offense, but this is his last year to show anything or he's not starting again in the NFL so he's already behind the 8 ball. He's got to know that this his last shot, either he has it or he doesn't

  5. BoA has one of the worst concessions in any arena I've ever been to - both quality and price. I hope they upgrade that. I don't understand not bringing in a bunch of food trucks to help and charging them a percentage or something...there should be a different food option at every concourse. Not a 20 minute line for some of the worst hot dogs, pizza, or old chicken strips you'll find anywhere

I mean, the huddle keeps beating this division will suck mantra....but we happen to be the clear cut worst team in the division.

Yes, we were the clear cut worst last year.  However there's tons of examples of the worst team in a division from last year being way better the next year, especially in the NFC South, a very parity driven division. In reality, on paper the Panthers aren't far off from Tampa or New Orleans at all. Defensively on par with Atlanta. And there's tons of factors that affect winning and losing than just the perceived talent of a team

stats and logical fallacies are fun to make up

what stats? i said “i’d say”. even during Cams MVP season you had several posters here say they don’t trust him to keep it going or that his showboating was gonna doom him in the playoffs. There are just a lot of negative Panthers fans in existence

  8. Some of the huddlers here will only be happy with Patrick Mahomes as our QB. They would legit complain if we had Josh Allen and pine for an upgrade. They won't admit it but they know who they are 😆

Listen, we've been a franchise for almost 30 years, and not once did most Panther fans like the quarterback we have. Cam reached I'd say an 80% approval rate in 2015, but it was back to being in the 50's following the SB. "We will never win anything with Cam as our QB" was a strong narrative on here after the SB.

Basically Bryce Young has a noodle arm and he won’t fit balls into tight windows.  Too many question marks but we will likely suck cause of Young.

That is not what they said at all. They said he had the two worst starting WR's in all of football and the 3 worst interior guards/center in all of football and its impossible to evaluate. They could count on two hands how many crossing routes the WR's ran, which is ridiculous. "There's a narrative that he's done, he's a bust, but this situation was truly terrible, and just going from awful to average supporting cast/coaching we'll see a true evaluation this year"

  10. He strikes me as a lackadaisical type that doesn't really care about the game or putting in the work but has a lot of effortless talent so he has been able to skate on by

Chicago always blows their offensive picks. Its an epidemic. Wouldn't surprise me if Rome busts too

  11. I'm all for removing as much human ref element as possible. NFL isn't so bad, but some NBA and MLB refs/umps go out of their way to be egotistical and "i'm better than you, look at what I can do" like a macho corrupt cop in the south

  12. That said, it would be nice to have a thread about OTA's that don't turn into Bryce bashing by the same 4 posters that have to be heard in every thread, even if its not about Bryce.

It's just annoying and this thread is not the place.

I mean truthfully thats not out the question, its already be stated most elite Qbs dont need everything to be great around them to succeed. Let say hypothetically XL lives up to the hype, Sanders shows why he was top TE in draft, Brooks becomes one of the best RBs in the league and the O line is top 5 based off all the money spent. That could be good enough to get you to a Superbowl without needing a QB to carry the team. Plus its already been said we will be a run heavy team so they are trying to take as much pressure off bryce as possible not give him way more responsibility. That clearly didnt work out to well last year and led to another staff overhaul. As of right now, relying on Bryce could cost people their jobs so its understandable if the coaches and other players are the catalyst for any success.

What on earth are you talking about. Only Mahomes can not have everything great around him and succeed. Do you think Josh Allen would have succeeded with that supporting cast last year with the Panthers? They were so far behind all the good teams at WR, TE, RB, and OL.

Burrow needs Chase and Higgins. Herbert still hasn't succeeded despite way better OL and WR play than the Panthers. Literally every team ever, besides Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Mahomes needs players around him to succeed. Are you holding out hope we get that caliber of QB? It's not like they grow on trees.

  14. Defense is fine. Evero being back is the most important thing for the defense. He will have them playing solid and the drop off from Burns to Clowney is negligible (if not and improvement, becuase Burns was lost on run support). Horn if he plays is way better than what we had last season and I do think they'll still bring in Gilmore or a vet once we get closer to week 1.

Team's win total focuses solely on Bryce and putting up points and Legette, Johnson and Mingo improving. I wonder if Canales will get Bryce out of the pocket and roll him out more where Bryce is much better. Reich and Brown seemed hell bent in making Bryce learn from the pocket where he wasn't comfortable. Also more Bryce runs/scrambles to keep the defense honest.

You can say this about every team in the nfc south

agreed, which is why if Bryce gets his poo together the division is for the taking. Even with Bryce sucking we were in every NFC South game last year
