If all they wanted to do was win the NFCS, its pretty simple
Power running offense
Bryce only throws 20-25 passes a game, he's decent at 3rd down throws to move the chains
Draft best available offensive or defensive lineman at 33, or if a middle linebacker falls take him instead
Play stout defense and run the ball
Bryce would have taken the 2022 Panthers to playoffs IMO under the McAdoo scheme
Problem is this style of play rarely wins a playoff game

Morris will redeem himself, but Quinn is a WTF hire for Peters and the owners there in Washington. Like the total opposite of what they needed. You might as well have hired Belichick at that point.

Move Canales to 3. Mayo is going to do exactly nothing to change NE's trajectory, especially with the staff he hired... they will be back to the 80's patriots of old. Callahan didn't call plays. Canales has more upside than those two.

I laughed when David Newton smirked after asking "Why did you come here after they fired 3 coaches"

I think they are waiting for Seattle and Washington to make their decision, and I think he is back here if they don't pick him. Denver last year wanted someone different. I imagine Canales, being all offense, would love to have Evero back

Don't we get compensatory picks if someone hires Evero from our staff because he's black? I think so. In that case, keep Evero please

Bucs fans are happy he’s gone. Doesn’t inspire confidence whatsoever.
Totally underwhelming GM/coach combo. Tepper is going to have to get super lucky

What the bears do is completely irrelevant. Wake up
no it’s not. trade “grades” 5 years in the future show the actual players traded for eachother. Bears have a history of blowing picks. again the trade will be more remembered for passing on stroud. stop thinking so irrationally because of emotion and wake up

the Bears are gonna blow all the picks (already blown two) so it’s not gonna look as bad. it will be remembered more for passing on Stroud

Sure there is. Bryce misses receivers when they are wide open, routinely fails to even attempt NFL-open passes, and has the worst stats a full-season QB has had for this team since Chris Weinke. What more do I need to see? Good players elevate those around them, and he hasn't.
Tom Brady misses wide open receivers. Stroud missed a bunch against the Panthers. Every QB ever in history has.
There’s a world where Bryce improves his footwork and looks really good in 1-2 seasons. We can’t change the past. We aren’t having Stroud here. No one disagrees that we should have taken Stroud. But Bryce wasn’t Zach Wilson or Darnold bad. his problems are very fivable. it’s up to him to fix

Keep up the copium to believe Young is any good.
Young could have been a lot worse. Young can also improve, especially since his major problem right now is footwork and getting the ball out earlier, two things that have been improved by other QBs. Every single QB in NFL history has missed open receivers. I don’t get these “my opinion is absolute and he will never be any good” takes.

more than one thing can be true
some huddlers are colin cowherd with their narrow minded takes
stroud is obviously better. but he also would not have made the playoffs or had that season here. carolina had organizational rot. Houston hired a great coaching staff and had good receivers.

Teams with open GM slot are more attractive than just an open HC slot
Again, you are fooling yourself if you don't believe that Ben Johnson and his agent aren't picking the GM for the Panthers. It will be a package deal

Panthers are looking for a combo. Not the same guy, but a HC and GM that have chemistry already. Basically they are gonna let Ben Johnson pick whoever he wants as GM. As he should.

I'd rank the destinations as:
Washington
Patriots
Carolina
Raiders
Atlanta
Chargers
If Belichick is released, I think its a near lock he goes to Washington.
Carolina being a bad destination is overblown. Tepper has shown he'll spend infinite money, they have an open GM slot which means the coach can pick the GM, and the team has a strong young defense.
-
I don't think GM search matters... they are gonna ask Ben Johnson, Belichick or Harbaugh what GM they want because the coaches have the leverage here and will bring in a GM that would work well/are friends with that coach.
Panthers are probably doing their due diligence and getting feedback on the roster and where to go from here
-
i’d say it’s one of the more attractive, only thing that’s not attractive is not having the first round pick.
GM and Coach both open means it’s better than any other job with just a coach immediately
Tepper has infinite funds. Chargers are cheap and have no culture or fanbase
Tepper will learn. He’s embarrassed. He’ll step back. At least he wants to win.
-
In that scenario yes, but it would be 3 years probably so I'd stick with what we have. He has to be embarrassed and want to step back at this point

Every time I want to give up on Bryce, the offensive line or WR does something so bad, and it's hard to hate on him
Bryce has had a rough rookie season for sure, but man his teammates haven't helped at all.
-
Falcons have 10 in the box and we can't solve it

Ben Johnson will pick here if he gets to pick the GM
Any coach Tepper hires will get to pick the GM, because Tepper knows he has no leverage.
That's why I think Harbaugh or Belichick are the best bets, because they will have full control and be able to pick their GM helper (while actually GM'ing the team)
-
As soon as Carolina is even just 3-2 after week 5, may not be next year but in the coming years, everyone will be back. This fanbase is that fickle

I cant see any reason why he would come here. He doesnt need the money and he as GOD status at Michigan.
If he was offered full control of a NFL franchise, he would take that over college, no question

Trevor had a winning record, won the division, and went to postseason in his first year with Doug. Finished top 10 in yards.
Trevor has a winning record this year with Doug, leads the division and would be in the playoffs if they started today. Currently top 10 in yards.
How has a 2nd and 3rd year player not been executing? Also completing 67% of his passes his 2 years with Doug.
I'm talking about this year. He's way better than Bryce, i'm not saying he isn't and I'd trade for him in a heart beat. Trevor has struggled to execute late, I don't see why that's offensive to you. I'm just saying the Jags system with Peterson is light years better than Brown/Reich's horrid system, even if the QB numbers aren't high this year

Hopefully Penix or Nix are there at 33. Not for us, but a team like the Giants would trade up for them and give us their two 2nd round picks for it.
I maintain that we take a lineman, offensive or defensive, in the 2nd round. Preferably a center, Bozeman really fell off.
