Teddy was also brought in because of the uncertainty with Cam and his health. Covid prevented us from seeing Cam up close when they needed to know if he was healthy. If they did, I have a feeling that might have rolled with him for last year without an extension.
Teddy was a good risk. Last year, he didn't have a O-line and CMC but more then that, Teddy hasn't played a full season in years. With no training camp to really get in football shape, I think he wore out towards the end. If he's our QB next year (draft pick or not), I can see a better Teddy with a better O-line and a healthy CMC and a better defense to get off the field on 3rd down.
No offense. ‘Better’ might be 7 and 9 with teddy and that’s his ceiling
I think we have all seen enough of the 7 and 9 Show with multiple QBs

I'm an old man. I'd definitely love to see a good Panthers team sooner rather than later
A month ago, the idea of standing pat with Bridgewater for another year would have sounded incomprehensible to me. Even today, the thought makes me cringe.
But with all that said, it might just happen.
Hope not, but who knows?
Yes. Im Too.
Really had to talk myself into renewing psls for four more years but hopeful of a qb change and that Rhule isnt the used car salesman he might be, so took the plunge for four more years

That's fantastic really. I personally love wasting an elite QB with Shula and love wasting a good OC with TB.
This team is always great. That ‘good’ OC wanted Bridgewater and that’s why Bridgewater is here

I will be honest, anyone criticizing Mr Scot does not understand what he does for the Huddle. Full Stop. I do not always agree with him, but that is not the issue--he puts it out there and keeps it fresh.
This
I don’t always agree with Scot but I appreciate his intelligence and love our beloved but befuddling franchise

Fields impressed me with that cheap hit he took and made Clemson pay for it
it is amazing he didn’t get broken ribs or sternum from it
i suspect it affected him against Bama as well
if Bridgewater took that hit, he would be out for the season.

Yeah you are right we should have benched every starter and punted the ball to make sure we get Fields or Wilson locked up without having to give up anything. 100% all in on the draft. What a message to send to your young team right. You have been playing well, hung around with GB and KC, but we want to make sure we get this rookie QB from BYU that has already had shoulder surgery, so put your competitive nature aside and if any little fans that are able to go to these games can suck it up and watch this shitty performance to make sure we lose to Haskins...
Once again, Pederson tried this poo with the Eagles and now that team is a mess and he is unemployed.
There are ways to do things He would have been within his role to see what he had on his bench to make decisions in the future but you start the game that way.
again, the long view of the franchise is far more important than a meaningless game in a lost season

. Rhule didn’t give a poo about the draft when he was playing Washington. He job is to get his team prepared to win that game and he did. I’ve never understood all this crying about a win... I don’t see many analysts stating “you know if Carolina just lost that game 4 weeks ago they would have a better draft pick. Such a bad call winning that one...” We won and we were the better team. That’s what should and did happen. Let our staff figure out the draft now since it’s that time of year.
Analysts don’t care about Carolina. They care about winning teams or the worst team in the league getting the first pick
the only position that really matters in the draft is QB, if a team doesn’t have one, and the Panthers don’t
if you know you have a chance at a top 3, you don’t blow it. The Jets blew it. They had Trevor Lawrence. They don’t anymore. The Panthers blew it. Now instead of getting the number 3, they have to mortgage their future to move up . stupidthen again, it was the same smart panthers brain trust that brought Teddy here in the first place; therefore, their judgement is suspect from the beginning
...and yes, I understand ‘you play to win the game’ however there is more than one game to consider, it’s 10 years of stable QB position for a franchise.
Nonetheless, we can go to bed and sleep at night safe in the knowledge that Rhule cares about our ‘culture’ in one breath and bringing in Haskins in the other .He would do well to learn this isn’t div 1 anymore

Start PJ and say you are evaluating whats on your roster. Nobody would have thought twice about that seeing how bad teddy was playing
Better yet, start Grier

Pair this with the fact that the Panthers have said publicly that the Panthers would be in on any QB deal (which this is) and you can safely assume we are trying to move up.
Ironically, we are going to trade a ton to move up to the position where we would have been if we just lost to Washington.
Hey, building that ‘culture’
the same architect of the WFT win thought he could continue the ‘culture building’ with Dwayne Haskins

Stating the obvious, there are many considerations with salary cap for at least three years out, two of (this one and 2022) which may decline due to covid restrictions, and next year’s draft position as well
2022 has Howell and yet another Oregon Qb on the horizon
my belief is the Panthers will only trade up for the second best Qb, not the third or fourth They know they will never pry Lawrence away from Urban I almost feel sorry for Trevor TBH
I believe if they can’t move up for that 2nd qb or they don’t feel that qb is worth it, they will get someone like Darnold who will not hurt salary cap or draft position in future years. No harm, no foul if he sucks, cut him, still on his rookie contract
they just do not have the cap space or a ready made team to attract a veteran or the capital for much else.
they will take Darnold. They will give up a second for him. They will then trade that 8 pick for more picks
I know what Tepper wants. We all do. Unlike MLB, the salary cap changes things

Teddy Bridgewater, same thing in June 2020.
Let's pass on this one.
Don’t disagree
Marcus has talent and sometimes the system doesn’t suit the player or the coach doesn't suit the player as we saw with Tannehill
give me a choice of another year with Teddy or giving Marcus a chance and fill holes In the draft, I’d take Marcus
It just seems to me that the Panthers have to gut their team to get one of the upper level veterans and / or trade up in the draft
i hope they stay put and are able to get Lance but who knows. Still a long time to end of April
what I know is they dont have an oline or a QB1 and it becomes chicken or egg.
I wish I had more faith in Rhule who approved Teddy coming here in the first place. Just tired of the Panthers acting like the player they wanted was thrust upon them

Frankly, to be a guard, gotta have a little mean streak
not sure Little has one of those. As bad as those two interior guards were this past year, if he had ability, he would have been moved there
...maybe there is something else going on with him. Who knows Just another wasted pick by Hurney

What you guys in The Draft Sewell/Address Other Needs Crew fail to understand is this.
If we address other needs we will start winning 7 to 10 games a year and will never be able to cheaply ( FA or trading firsts to move up) get a QB.
People are so short sighted. This was the year to suck. One year rip the band aid off and move on.
But no Rhules phucking ego clouds his vision. He thinks it's college and he can build a program and recruit a stud QB.
Well when you do that in the NFL you have to mortgage the future with losing draft picks or salary cap or both.
Im not short sighted at all
i would prefer they draft a QB
unfortunately, that little ‘culture building’ win combined with several other teams with QB needs with a lot more to offer and the Panthers failure to address the oline has changed the dynamic
I Would prefer they stay at 8 and if the guy they want is there, take him
the Panthers brain trusts have also run their mouths so much that they are going to be viewed as desperate and that only lessens their bargaining ability

We already made one back up our starter why would we get him? Think
you think
Remind you that Tannehill was a starter. Then Backup. Then started for the Titans
everyone tries to draft or trade for the next Brady or Mahomes.
sometimes, that isnt possible and for a team that is basically getting four maybe five new Olinemen, or needs to, mariota mightn't be a bad stop gap

Why not. Young. Mobile. Firmer number one. Wouldn’t be as expensive
could buy time as the Panthers address all the other needs.

Ian Thomas was solid when he replaced Olsen in 2018 as a rookie, Teddy, or this offense just don't feature TE usage. https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/4045305/ian-thomas
Then 2019 Olsen returns, and Cam is hurt all year, and in 2020 he's the 5th option if that with a QB that doesn't look past the sticks hardly.
Brady offense featured TE plenty at LSU.
The Saints offense also featured Cook plenty as well
not buying it Just because it wasn’t done this year with the Panthers doesn’t mean they didn’t want to.

As for any team not the Panthers in the NFC south, I hate all those rat bastards

I think even more than the lines, Mahomes just wasn't with it last night. His arm didn't seem like its normal self and he was noticeably slower than usual. Maybe that concussion got to him or something.
Toe injury that will most likely require surgery

It also showed the importance of good TEs
Panthers don’t have one of those either
Kelce dropping passes and Gronk catching but both were targeted often

I may not live long enough to see the Panthers be relevant again
this whole business with the QB situation is depressing
I just feel like the Panthers had zero plan for the most important position on the field and they swung for the fences with bridgewater and got mediocre
the handling of Newton. Then bridgewater and now what seems like desperation to find somebody, anybody other than who that same brain trust brought in
yes I know there is new gM but same HC and OC who brought us Bridgewater
is this what a good franchise does?
this upcoming draft is the most important draft in franchise history.

Too many oline injuries and too many distractions with Reid’s family
then the kc receivers are not making plays...being out muscled
then, there is the curse of mike remmers. How is he even in the Nfl still
panthers haveva long way to cime close to Tampa or the other Nfl south teams

I say, go for it
by and Large, the Panthers have mostly hit on their number one picks
how many lombardis do they have as a result?
watson is young, proven and by large has stayed healthy
Can’t win in the new nfl without a QB1
of course, he may not wish to come here, who knows
