Bryce Young will only be placed on a rack if he has lots of bad games in a row this season.
…so, you are saying there’s a chance…..

What better opportunity does Johnson think he is going to get? Top 2 pick. New owners. New stadium. Adam Peter's. Rabid fanbase potentially.
This just seems really odd.
Maybe…he is happy where he is…doing what he does…for who he does it for
i said the same in another thread a few weeks ago
not sure he has the personality for a HC either and he may have personal considerations
it is more than possible to have a long, lucrative career as a coordinator without the spotlight, aggravation and pressure of a HC
not everyone is cutout for the belly of the beast NFL HCs endure

I do not agree with that assessment at all. Bryce has his share of problems with foot work, confidence, ball placement, holding the ball too long as well as other areas.
Our primary reasons for sucking last year in order are:
Guards and Icky. Nine different guards started. Icky gave up double digit sacks.
Coaching - Franks system, playcalling and too many chefs.
WR - No one on one play makers that could get open based on individual skill set.
Hhmmm
Andy Dalton looked pretty good with the same cast against a decent Seattle team and we didn’t see him again…because…Bryce

also starting to think we may have judged Rhule a bit too prematurely as well... he's definitely a douche but I think if given time and legit trust from ownership to put his vision and plan into place he could've had success on the field here. We actually saw it a bit when Wilks took over and we started winning, that was very much a team that Rhule built.
Don't get me wrong I'm glad Rhule and Reich are both gone but despite having their own issues I think Tepper's meddling didn't allow either of them to have any chance of success.
7 years is an eternity in the nfl
3 years is the standard to turn around it seems in the nfl lions latest example…if teams know what they are doing
Rhule is a ncaa coach and a really really bad hire

Playoff teams invest heavily in both lines
the Panthers need to do the same
They have zero depth, two continually injured guards, an underperforming left tackle and an average right tackle and a one trick pony center and zero, and I mean zero, backups worth a damn
…and those coming off injury guards are a year older
they need to go young
I would not care if every single draft pick was oline
17 games make that line a necessity for an extremely small nfl qb that they spent a fortune on
over the years, they haven’t drafted a WR or TE worth a damn, Steve Smith during the Siefert years was a long time ago, so get those in free agency

Dereck Brown is it
offense….nope…and our number 1 pick would be on the practice squad best

It's wild to me that one of Tepper's rats is the same dude coaching one of the absolutely worst units on the team. If I did my job as poorly as Campen did last season, I'd duck every time my boss came nearby.
I wonder if this reporting has anything to do with Dave & Nicole always observing OL practice?
Well…he was blaming the sacks on Young and his lack of dropping to the right depth on setup
Whether he was right or wrong, that was a conversation for himself and the coaching staff not the GM and Tepper
It is called saving one’s ass

Honestly. I’ve liked Canales for a month or so..the more I read, more I liked him
still, performance based business
…in my mind the issue with the panthers is talent evaluation and that starts with regional scouts and goes all the way up that chain and that is on Morgan’s side of the house
we can say the selections ‘didn’t map the appropriate skill to the coach’s scheme’ all we want but regardless of coaching scheme, the drafting has been awful and free agents on pro personnel not much better.
if they want to compete, they better fix that pretty damned quick

We have replaced our QB every year Tepper has been here without much success. Now we have a young QB we invested a ton of assets into that struggled in our offense. Before throwing more assets at that position we need to do everything in our power to create a decent offense to better evaluate these QBs. If we had a better offense like the Bucs when Baker was here we would probably be rolling with him right now and have all of those Young picks to use plus DJ. OL needs fixed, WR needs a WR1 and probably WR2, we need a TE, could use a RB that can catch the ball, LBs, another pass rusher, NT, CB2 and hope Horn can stay healthy. I can’t comprehend using yet another asset in a QB and hoping it works for the what??? Teddy, Sam, Baker, Corral, Young 6th time in 4 years?
This was the argument for not pulling the trigger on a QB to begin with and when tvey did, they drafted an outlier
Young must improve or he will be gone
62 sacks…id say 20 of those were on Young
Too, im glad campen is gone as well…that oline was a little too comfy with status quo and there is something wrong with Ickey. He needs to get his head out of his ass or be moved on
I didn't want Young but he is here one year is what he gets
im very leery of needing the perfect situation for him to succeed thats never going to happen
its a performance based business produce or someone will
Im sure he is good to his Momma, puppies, and is a charming dinner partner but that's not what this job description is
there are 51 other players whose livelihood depends in this kid and i think there should be competition brought in Not big on being given without earning
/end rant

I think Dan Morgan sent a message
new day and new sheriff in town
Perhaps Tabor was in the wrong side of that story
id rather have Campen go…it’s not like that oline has been gang busters
time for a new set of eyes on them for scheme needed…not necessarily replacement but repositioning also

Per Adam Schfeter
Panthers informed their interim head coach/special teams coordinator Chris Tabor that he will not be retained despite the two years that he has left on his contract and he now is free to seek employment elsewhere, per source.

That's where we're setting the line now for really positive takes? Basic coaching 101 and not being a dumbass with scheme and personnel? I'll give you that it would be a nice step up from the last 2 guys if it happens, but my god is the bar low for this franchise.
Ok well
if you want to spin or feeL negative, feel negative
tepper’s tale of the tape does that
However, It’s amazing how many NFL coaches are dumbasses by that simple measurement …even knowing coaching 101

Really positive take We could use a little positivity

Potential offensive staff candidates under Canales:
OC: Brad Idzik
WRs/PGC: Sanjay Lal
RB: Chad Morton
TE: Pat McPherson
QB: ???
OL: Campen?
I feel its time to move on from Campen
give that offense a total fresh start and a fresh look at those linemen

excerpts below
While Dave Canales lacks experience, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator had two things that helped him stand out in a field of 12 candidates: a history of resurrecting quarterbacks and close ties to new Panthers general manager Dan Morgan.
….But the Panthers needed someone to get quarterback Bryce Young turned around, and it became increasingly clear they weren’t going to land Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Canales’ track record with struggling quarterbacks is encouraging. Geno Smith won the AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2022 when Canales was the Seahawks’ quarterbacks coach and the Bucs’ Baker Mayfield is a finalist for the award this year.
There’s a rich irony that the Panthers hired Canales in part for his work with Mayfield a year after they released him when interim coach Steve Wilks decided to play Sam Darnoldover Mayfield.
The Panthers stayed in touch with Young’s representatives throughout the search. A source close to Young and his representation said the No. 1 pick is optimistic about Canales and likes that he’s young with a strong track record with quarterbacks.
Smith and Mayfield had career years with Canales, with Mayfield throwing for 4,044 yards and 28 touchdowns in the regular season before leading Tampa Bay to a wild-card win over Philadelphia.
The Bucs’ offensive numbers overall weren’t stellar. They were last in the league in rushing, 23rd in total offense and 20th in scoring (20.5 ppg), but finished 17th in passing.
Tampa Bay managed just 228 yards and three field goals in a 9-0 win at Carolina in Week 18, when Morgan and Canales spent a few minutes catching up before the game at Bank of America Stadium. The Bucs’ offense fared better in Canales’ first meeting against Carolina and Evero, whom the Panthers hope to retain.
Evero interviewed for the head-coach opening in Atlanta and remains in the mix for the position in Seattle. But he’s under contract with the Panthers, who can block him from taking a lateral move.
Personnel executives and other officials around the league said they’ve heard good things about Canales but don’t know much about him because of his relative inexperience. As recently as 2020, Canales was helping out with the Seahawks’ tight ends as the team’s passing game coordinator. Former Panthers tight end Greg Olsen, who was in Seattle that year, recently posted on X that he “spent a lot of time talking ball and philosophy” with Canales.
If Canales is successful in putting Young on a path to success, Tepper will look like a genius for hiring him before anyone else was considering it. If Young fails to thrive in Canales’ system — which, like Thomas Brown’s, is an offshoot of Sean McVay’s — Tepper will be blasted for hiring one of Morgan’s buddies and pairing an inexperienced head coach with an inexperienced GM.
Essentially, Canales has one job. And no one in the organization can afford for him to screw it up.

When a first year coordinator leads a team with Evans and Godwin to twentieth in points and 23rd in total yards, in the dogshit nfc south including a 9 point explosion in a must win game against the panthers….well you gotta jump on that.
Sometimes you have to read the book to the end
their offense and baker got exponentially better as the season went on post Tom Brady no one saw the Bucs in the playoffs
the guy trained under Pete Carroll. I suspect he learned a thing or two
he made Wilson, Geno, and Baker Mayfield better
Wilson and Mayfield are not prototypical big QBs so he will have some concept of what to do with our midget
he will run a simple offense which should mean ball out of young’s hand quickly
As far as exper, The Dolphins coach wasn't highly sought after either … he’s done ok plus the Panthers had a lot of experience last year lol
there should be no mismatch between the GM and HC
now, if only he could bring Evans and Godwin with him….lol
time will tell in any case

He makes good points…and we all know these things if we have ever been in management
Tepper isn’t my favorite person
I think he wants that cultural but he picks the wrong people to grow it, and becomes frustrated when his vision doesn’t materialize and requires course correction
he is a typical Myers’s Briggs ENTP personality …to a tee.
he has big dreams. Big visions but when those do not materialize, he quits on that vision and moves on
truthfully, I do not blame him for firing Reich. I blame him for hiring him and wanting young. He should be playing percentages vs outliers
