  1. Damnit. As I get older my grammar gets worse and worse. It is weird. I usually have to edit my posts 2-3 times.
  2. Technicality. But it seems that your argument is that since it wasn't the harshest penalty they could have evoked, it wasn't punishment at all. He had a choice of two punishments, and he chose the lesser of the two. That doesn't mean it isn't punishment That is nonsense
  3. Who is your employer? Just want to forward some of your posts from the tinderbox.
  4. Most people on this board hate your jobs so you think "FUG YEAH. PAID VACATION BITCHES!!!" What if... and I know this is freaking crazy... but what if you LOVE your job? These guys are getting paid now. But they didn't when they were in Pop Warner, High School, college (maybe). Most guys who become productive in the NFL play because they love to play football. They just happened to get paid well to do it. Cam broke his back, and he felt terrible that he had to miss one game. He didn't say "Hell yes, I broke my back. Paid vacation boys!!!" 90% of this board would be stoked to get worker's compensation. These guys hate missing a single snap of the game they love. They take pain pills and injections just to get on the field. They play past ther prime longer than their bodies can hold up, just because they want to stay on that field So quit talking about paid vacations just because your job sucks and you hate it and would gladly sit at home at get paid.
  5. The main debate seems to be some arguing whether he was technically disciplined and some are talking about whether he was actually disciplined. Technically the NFL will say that he has not been disciplined yet. And judging from the court ruling that is the case. Jeremy, Scot and others were right about that aspect. I contend that he was actually punished.. Other's might see it otherwise, but we are arguing semantics. This ruling (if it is upheld on appeal) is good Hardy because it means Hardy won't likely be suspended for more than two games. If Hardy gets suspended for two games and he appeals it, he would lose. If he gets suspended for more than two there are now two precedents that would likely get it overturned.
  6. So have a lot of us. What does emotional detachment have to do with anything
  7. How much off his next contract do you think Hardy lost? Is loss of future earnings not punishment?
  8. Why do you think he paid her off? Because the DA said it while hedging?
  9. My patents kept switches over the freaking refrigerator just in case. I got belts and switches at times as a kid. But times have changed. Plus the Peterson kid was like 4. A little to young for switches IMO
  10. What if you are on the exempt list and u have performance escalators in your contract? That would be punishment wouldn't it? This whole commissioner's exempt status is a cluster
  11. What if you put in the context of future earnings? He has likely lost millions of dollar's from his next contract. For a crime he may have not even committed. Is that not punishment?
  12. I was wondering if Doty would give any clarification on this. He didn't so you are right. Not surprising since it wasn't one of the formal complaints, but it was mentioned at hearing and I hoped there would have been more about it
  13. Yeah, it doesn't make sense, but they withdrew request for evidence and hopefully will wrap it up soon. Regardless what they may think about his actions it is not fair to leave this over his head going into free agency
  14. To be fair, that was just my opinion. I said this case would go a long way in knowing what to expect for Hardy. If Doty ruled in favor of NFL I would have been wrong. But i thought Peterson had a good case that was also bolstered by Ray Rice decision. I also said for a while that NFL likely wouldn't punish him at all. That remains to be seen, but others like Jeremy and Scot have convinced me that it is unlikely (however I will say "told ya so" if he doesn't get suspended )
  15. Either way you can't retroactively enforce a new rule like that. That would be similar to you doing something that was legal, then lawmakers create new law and try to punish you for what you did before it was illegal. Or you got arrested and charged with a misdemeanor, then after the fact they make it a felony and try to charge you with the felony
  16. @adbrandt: And yes, ruling will help Greg Hardy. "Old standard" -- perhaps 2-game suspension as with original Rice ruling -- may be applied.
  17. In that same article is says the longest suspension it could find for domestic case was 3 games. It usually was a max 2 games. We will know more when details of the ruling come out
  18. Because when the Hardy stuff happened general suspension for domestic issue was 2 games. They retroactively created this commissioners exempt list policy, then minimum 6 game suspension. Both Ray Rice case and this case will say you can't make new rules after the fact and try to enforce them That is why I say worst would likely be 2 games.
  19. Yes Judge Doty has sided against the NFL before.
  20. NFLPA is 2 for 2 on these appeals to courts with the new policies. I am interested to read the ruling, but it is becoming clear you can't make up a rule and then retroactively apply it to someone. Means Hardy likely at worst would be looking at 2 game suspension. Another big question will be whether judge had an opinion on commissioners exempt list being disciplinary in nature
  21. Devil is in the details, but this could have ramifications for Greg Hardy, especially the issues of punishment under new policies enacted after the incident occured and if commissioners exempt list considered a pre-discipline discipline @AdamSchefter: Judge Doty has overturned Adrian Peterson decision and Peterson now will be reinstated, per source.
