One thing I'm not sold on is the weapons for Bryce.  I'm not really convinced that spending so much money on the guard position is going to improve Bryce's ability to complete passes.

He definitely needs better protection, but adding Diontae Johnson and a rookie isn't going to be enough.  No receiving back.  No reliable tight end.  And Diontae Johnson and Adam Theilen?  Oof.

An oline that actually holds up instead of  getting blown 3 yards into the backfield upon snap of the ball would help any QB…especially one that’s sub 6’

    who's truth?

I mean…watching the team the last few years how have they not seemed dysfunctional and clueless. We’re all hoping they finally got it right but you’d have to admit it’s been scattershot since Cam got hurt and worse since Tepper came in.  I like what they’ve done so far this offseason but we mishandled Burns, Cmac and DJ so it’s hard to blame fan frustration

There is no reason to spend even more draft capital or money on ANOTHER QB when we are not 1 QB away from being competitive.

We stick with Young one more year.

Also, I don't think he's as much of a lost cause as you seem to. His decision-making is not as bad as you say, he actually learned throughout the season (Case in point the 2nd Falcons game where he bated Bates on numerous throws so he wouldn't get picked again) and his escapability got better as the season went on and he got used to the game speed of the NFL. The line played like crap, receivers played like crap, the scheme was crap, no one looked good.

It's a big fat N/A for damn near everyone on offense, but no, the backup plan should be the backup QB, which is Dalton, who is a damn good backup and we don't need to waste more assets on another.

If Young shows no improvement next season then we move on and draft a new QB in 2025.

Right. In that scenario we’d have a high draft pick to get one. This year spending  picks and capital on Oline  and skill positions is too important.

It’ll give Bryce his best chance to succeed and if not the QB we take high in 2025 will benefit from those same things. If Bryce isn’t the guy he’ll be our Clausen 2.0 and walk us into a high pick

They are leaving him on an island this year unlike last when he had blocking TEs and RBs to give him a hand.  Not to mention he had BC next to him all season.  Is he good enough at this point in his career to man that left side all by himself consistently?  The answer is no, not yet.  Firstly, he needs a LG to be a cornerstone the rest of the season and secondly, on obvious passing downs, it wouldn't hurt for someone to chip or stay back to help block especially on longer distances where routes take more time to develop.

Yeah I don’t get why it’s so hard to move a TE or RB or both over there and help him

Maybe…if we don’t draft much better it won’t work out regardless.  Like I said, I believe in him and not close to giving up on him.

Right…the picks are already sunk cost. Best scenario by far is we unlock his potential. Scariest part to me is though Frank is undoubtedly a nice guy and all that he seems like a terrible fit to do that. Hopefully Bryce is resilient enough not to get David Carr’d. I’ve been wanting someone from the Shanahan tree forever…that offense just seems to work everywhere it goes. They need to just turn the kid loose and let him find his rhythm. He’s looked best in no huddle and hurry up offense and our running game isn’t good enough for ball control/defensive football…fug it go run n shoot at this point and just get him reps.

What if in 2015 we played the Patriots in the Super Bowl instead of the Broncos? We matched up a whole lot better to beat a team like the Patriots than the Broncos and with the whole deflate gate scandal maybe we would've been on the right side of the biased officiating as the commissioner and the league would've wanted to stick it to the Patriots instead of wanting to give their golden boy Payton Manning a feel-good story send off.

Yeah I really thought we were going to play the Pats. Wanted the rematch. In the SB in wonder what would’ve happened if we’d just went power run from heavy formations to wear out their smaller Dline  instead of playing right into their strength which was their pass rush and secondary vs our “all world” tackles and WR’s. Probably the worst game plan I’ve ever seen on that stage. They had me calling for Fox ball ha

I always wondered how 2016 would have gone had we not rescinded Josh Norman's tag like some dumbasses, which in turn led to using 60% of our draft picks on CBs that year. God this franchise is so damn incompetent lol

This is a good one…way to show the fan base and team that you’re not even trying to get back to the Super Bowl…letting Ted Ginn walk over a couple million dollars after the SB season was a huge mistake IMO. Him and Cam together was a big play waiting to happen. Why is our team so against fast WRs ha

Are any of them 5'10 with questionable arm strength?

You folks search and search and search for outliers to fit your narratives and feed your feels you did the same thing with Sam Darnold. Stop coddling the kid and comparing him to good or elite QB's until he proves he can even hang with the Falcons or Saints who are without Matt Ryan and Drew Brees. Have some standards for goodness sake.

I didn’t have to search for anything man I’ve watched football a long time and have a memory ha. Seen sure things flame out and guys people doubt succeed. The draft’s a crapshoot. Drew Brees was like what an inch  taller if?? I’m not saying he’s going to be as good as any of those guys, just that it’s a bit ridiculous to act like we know 2 games in. He DID hang with both teams. They were close games. Obviously gotta get much much better. We’ll see if he/they can

Drew Brees Josh Allen Trevor Lawrence do you not see that you folks are just aimlessly throwing out names hoping something sticks so you can comfort yourself?

How is bringing up other QBs that didn’t light it up right out of the gate but looked pretty damn good after a couple seasons of learning and adding weapons around them aimlessly throwing out names? They were in similar situations. Using the criteria you’re using not one of those QBs would have gotten time to develop. You’re saying a player in their first 2 starts is going to show you exactly what they can and can’t be. And somehow that’s a more reasonable take then how about we give him at least a season before the tar and feathers brigade gets the pitchforks out ha. Come on dude

I think Bryce will be fine and I have been one of his worst critics on this board.  I called him a bust during the draft.  Bryce is playing mostly mistake free football and he takes what defense gives him.  He’s very very good at reading the game and avoids forcing things.

I think the issue is with the fans because they set unrealistic expectations in their heads that Bryce is next Drew Brees right out of college.  No, it takes time to make the transition.  Bryce will be fine.

Right on. Plus they’re ignoring the fact that it took until his 3rd year as a starter for Drew Brees to start looking like the Drew Brees in New Orleans. And that’s with the offensive talent difference he had in San Diego at the time which is nowhere near close. Killing the kid after 2 games in the nfl with some of the worst weapons in the nfl = crazy expectations or you just have your draft day axe to grind. They’d have ran Peyton, Drew, Lawrence, Tua, Allen and a plethora of others out of town 6 games into their first season for not looking like Mahomes day 1.

  11. I mean…how does anyone see this as a negative. Means we’re serious about a division title We need more than 2 pass rushers ha. All our others besides Burns are young unproven guys. Houston could very easily be a 3rd down pass rush specialist ala Trace Armstrong. Great pedigree and vet for the young guys to learn from. I like that they didn’t sit on their hands about the biggest question mark we had. Let the young guys duke it out, no one’s given squat. More pass rush the better. Get em Fitty

I guess this means he is taking the field as QB #1 against the Falcons.

How do u all feel about starting him the first game of the season or should they have eased him in.

If he has trouble would they yank him for Dalton and would that be the right thing to do for his confidence?

    What u got?

No chance in hell they yank him. He should start. Cam started week 1. So did Peyton Manning and most other number 1’pick QBs.  Knowing the offense and playbook obviously won’t be a problem

Boring time of the year, so this is a post to hear people opinions. Do you feel like we lost this trade/made the wrong decision, or do you feel we made the right decision making the trade?

    THE TRADE:

The full package of assets sent to Chicago reads like a shopping list: the ninth-overall pick this year, a second-round selection in 2023 (No. 61 overall originally from the 49ers), a first-round pick in 2024, a second-round pick in 2025, and Moore, a receiver who just completed the first year of a three-year, $61.88 million contract with the Panthers.

At this point we will miss DJ Moore, a future first in 2024, and a 2nd in 2025.

Projected starters on offense going into 2023:

    QB: Bryce Young

    RB: Miles Sanders, Hubbard

WR: Thielen, DJ Chark, Marshall JR, Mingo, Laviska, Damiere Byrd

    TE: Hurst, Thomas, Tremble

    LT: Icky

    LG: Brady C

    Center: Bozeman

    RG: Corbett (when healthy)

    RT: Moton

    IMG_0725.jpeg

I’d say compared to what the Niners gave the Phins to move up to 3 for Lance and other similar deals it was a great trade for us. We gave up a 1, two 2’s, and a borderline number 1 WR that yes has potential to be better with better QB play than he got here but let’s not act like we gave up Davante Adams or Tyreek Hill.  The number 9 pick was a swap for the number 1 so I don’t consider that giving them an extra 1st rder, semantics but annoys the piss out of me when the nfl “analysts” don’t make that distinction.

Any high pick  QB in the draft or big money free agent QB( ie Russel Wilson) comes with risk. Aaron Rodgers to the Jets has a BIG chance of getting that whole front office and staff fired with one injury. Any QB taken in the top ten generally gets 3 years minimum to pan out. Im not a college football fan but everything I’m seeing from Bryce looks like he’s special. IF it doesn’t pan out we’re back to our full complement of picks by the time that 3 years is up and I like that they staggered the picks so it’s not like we don’t have ammunition to add WR’s for him. I personally think between TMJ, Mingo, and even Chark( some freak injury stuff but he’s shown elite ability with lesser tier QBs) someone is going to breakout.
It helps that we seem to have staff that will actually scheme our weapons open…I know something Carolina fans aren’t used to seeing but seems to work great for the Andy Reid’s, Sean Payton’s and Mcveigh’s of the league.

Time will tell but I’m jacked that we swung for the fences here…I think we’re taking the division this year. I’m not afraid of any Bowles or Dennis Allen led team. I think Atlanta will be biggest competition but will run into the same problem we did trying to go with big, slow wrs except they’ve got Ridder instead of Cam.
I get you’re just making conversation so no worries there man. The folks acting like we got fleeced like Ditka for Ricky Williams need to stop snorting lines with their espresso ha

Not worried about that.  Sanders can get a yard with good OL play.  OL play realistically is most important in getting a yard. And the best QB sneaker in probably NFL history is Tom Brady.

I still say the biggest issue is we keep suggesting a dink dunk O with no pass catching RB on the roster.  I mean coaches keep saying Sanders can be a 3 down back but they emphasis that because he really isn’t one. Stone hands Hubbard is behind Sanders.  I’d rather get a legit 3rd down receiving back.   Think that remains a big need.

Sanders had 50 receptions in 2019…just curious how many catches does a rb need to be considered a valid pass catcher?  No he’s not Cmac but I think he’s a very good RB

I just want us to draft the guy the consensus within the organization seems as the best QB prospect. Ultimately, it's their jobs on the line. They're all getting fired in a couple of years if this dude busts and we're right back here again.

Right, can’t play scared. Draft the guy you feel best about, support him with personnel, scheme, and coaching and let’s see if he’s got that. I do feel like this staff seems more capable of that than the last time we had the number 1 pick but they still gotta land the right guy..point blank it’s just hard to to know who that guy is otherwise the mahomes’, Allen’s, Brady’s would’ve been drafted number 1
