Do we still make drafting a WR our top priority in round 2? Or do we focus on another need like DB, LB, C, S, DL, or TE?

I think thus far, the FA has been fairly solid for the Panthers and should be able to play somewhat competitive football next season.  That said, the optimist in me thinks this team is only a C, DB, Edge, WR, TE, RB and possibly QB away from competing for the division.

Reality says in round 2 pick BPA who is not a kicker, long snapper or mascot and they get an A/B draft grade.

Yeah... I'm not losing sleep over this one. He finally showed some promise last year but that's too much for the definition of a JAG.

I think some of the reaction is misplaced acrimony for the Burns trade. If we had signed YGM for 9 a year some folks on here would be out on mint street with pitch forks.

As I said earlier today here, Thomas is the new Bersin. His ability to keep sticking around defies all logic and reasoning.

No one will ever probably be able to explain that to the fanbase. I don't think there is any possibility that a real explanation exists.

Agree but to me Thomas is a greater mystery.  Bersin's ceiling was at best, a bottom of the roster guy and was always paid as such (as I recall but I may be incorrect on this).  Thomas' ceiling is at best a bottom of the roster guy that gets paid like he produces but doesn't.

LOl!  Saving from the Hurst and Bozeman cuts COMBINED are less than 400K!

The team can buy a new turnstile and a couple practice dummies. Probably come in well under 400k and still be able to replace the lost productivity. That’s front office genius IMO.

LMAO welcome to the backup life.

Not the most glamorous but its probably one of the best jobs in football. If he plays competent in spot duty  he’ll likely have a very good income stream for several years and stand a real good chance to walk away from an NFL career when it’s over instead of limp.  There are worse fates.

The big concern is going to be the consistent one. Is Tepper really the one pulling the strings?

I think that is going to hover over the organization for the foreseeable future.

Yes.  I personally think it can be beneficial if an owner is engaged but not overly involved.   Tepper has a right to know what is going on but outside of agreeing milestone events he has no business being the decision maker for personnel decisions, coaches strategies etc...

I am good with him asking questions and signing off on events when it comes to say tagging Burns or trading the farm to move up to #1 and draft a QB.  But he is not knowledgeable enough to give the pointed directives to tag a specific player or trade assets to draft a specific player. There is a fine line between engaged and meddling but right now the Teppers are on the wrong side of said line.

  7. Very underrated sport IMO.  My kids started playing rugby in middle school and enjoyed playing it more than football. Great game. Don’t always get the games but enjoy watching when I can.

Eh I don’t know a damn thing about hiring for these positions tbh, and I’d say 99% of us here don’t either, so I just hope it works out.

    This.
I Have no clue. Just hope everything gels and the voice of reason in the room isn’t based on who has the biggest bank account. If it is the case he is destined to fail.

if that isn’t the case then he has a chance to succeed.

Had annual physical today. Not a bit of it fun of course, but got the shingles vaccine. Really not fun.

    I mean really....not fun.

Got the shingles vaccine (2 dose) and both shots kicked my ass for a good day or two.   Hell of a lot better than getting shingles but it’s the only vaccine that’s ever triggered a strong reaction.

it sucks because you feel sick but in the back of your mind you know your just fake sick so you try to function like normal and still feel just as awful as you would if you were really sick.   Made that mistake with the first dose.

Second dose I just crawled into bed.

That's how you fix a 2-15 team... Pay big money for guys who contributed to the reason you went 2-15!

Everyone here is seriously wanting to pay $30 Million for a guy who admitted to the media he was playing not to get hurt.

It's not an issue of talent, the culture in this locker room sucks. The "Cornerstones" of this locker room need to be traded. The guy showing the most effort at the end of the season was retirement home Adam Thielen.

Spend that $30 million and go get guys who have real playoff experience who can help this locker room.

Edit:Is there any statistics that show people getting these max contracts (outside of QB) and it actually being worth what was paid? Every sport I've ever watched, 2-3 years in the team fanbases are always complaining about the contract.

Last Off Season I was falling on the side of just pay the man but after this season I really hope they dont open up the pocket book and give him  a max contract.  Last season there were times I forgot he was even playing.   If a guy is worthy of a max contract fans dont forget said player is on the field.

  11. Signing him would be a head scratcher for me.  It would also go a long way in deflating my optimistic outlook that this front office may actually have a strategy and a chance to succeed.  Maybe this would be an overreaction but that's what fans do.

    Project guy at the moment

So you’re saying he’d fit right in?

Seriously tho. I think smart drafting is something that we have lacked since ever.   I’m good with taking a chance on a guy in the later rounds but this team desperately needs to hit on a a couple picks that can contribute immediately.
