Personally, Wharton is my most underrated OL of all time here.
2008 was such a magical time.

2 things can be true.
we sucked all around last year and it was obvious
but preseason still means absolutely nothing.
we looked like poo 2015 preseason and KB went down everyone thought the season was doomed.
The only year I remember feeling good about the team but we sucked was 2006.
Every terrible year the team has looked terrible in the preseason too.

I don’t feel like many QBs put it together after having a terrible rookie season like Young’s was. The team just has to support him so they can dump him and be ready for the next QB.
I’d love for him to work out but this rarely happens.

The amount of corporate survivors out there who just hang on cashing paychecks by knowing the right asses to kiss, never rocking the applecart, learning some industry lingo, and just checking boxes is pretty staggering.
But that's what the corporate environment rewards. Fug that. Something has gone horrifically wrong for me to ever end up back in the corporate world.
I’d love to go corporate again but when it’s combined with bad people it sucks so bad.

He needs to prove it and get paid like Ian Thomas lol

Either way you have to support Bryce. Build up the team so you can see if he can improve or you have a better team for the next guy.

Getting JPJ would be incredible. I hope they pick up O-line but as long as they stick with offense you can’t go wrong. They just need to support Young.

45 and I (among others) think this is a probability (not trying to put words in his mouth) but in THIS draft, I think it could be the thing to do--reason? We have 3-4 pressing needs that we seem to want to address: WR, LB, CB, and RB. I could have added C and TE and another WR---
I like trading down but not to draft players you need. I’d rather see them trade down to assemble picks for the future.

It’s probably dumb but I think BPA is a mistake. Support your QB or bust. Don’t leave room for excuses. Draft for need and keep your QB upright, give him playmakers.
-
Until you see the pieces work together I have to feel they’ll be just as bad or worse than last year. Looking forward to them being much better.
-
Yeah this team has 1 more year to prove if Young is a bust or not. Need to keep him clean and give him weapons.

Good. Every economic study that I'm aware of that has looked into the issue has concluded that use of public funds for sports stadiums is a terrible investment.
I mean just look at South End and Noda Development vs 1st Ward.
im willing to pay for a stadium if the city owns it and largely benefits from it. Also if it dictates if the owner can move the team or not. It never feels worth it.

Just filling in holes and depth so can go BPA in the draft.
We need to fill in a letter or two in this guys name

Obviously we need a center. I think guard is acceptable. I’d like the flexibility to try Ickey at guard.
I wouldn’t fret at all about two o lineman in the 2nd honestly, just shore it up. Trade or FA your playmakers.

As far as I can tell the football team isn’t his #1 priority vs building a sports, entertainment, and gambling business. It doesn’t mean the football team can’t be successful too but I don’t see him learning lessons he never even cared about.

I think you pay him now and hopefully take some of the cap hit during your rebuild year.

We got $108M in cap space next year before another increase so I don't think the cap is a concern. Give him his 20-25m asap. He's not a lazy dude, I think he's from a military family so he won't disappear after getting paid
I think he got married and has children early too? Doesn’t mean a person is mature but it’s not like you ever hear anything bad about him.

Improvement and excited players.
Tepper needs to talk about real grass. Also need to hear about a practice facility. I don’t want any drama about a new stadium.

It’s different. I’ll be here at kickoff to see if the actual product has improved at all. All new faces makes it a little easier to not hate them.
Yeah, definitely part of what I love about pro football. Seeing guys at their peak achieving their dreams. Hoping the best for all of them.

I just hope this is a lesson to them to not look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak. If they ever get an offer like that again to realize there's not a player on the team you pass that up for.
For real, that made no sense. Belichek wasn’t great at drafting but he was always good about trading guys for firsts before they needed a big pay day

No team/owner/headcoach/player will EVER go into a new season with the intention to "tank". There is just too much at stake. Will an owner be happy if attendance at games goes in a downward spiral if the team doesn't perform? NO! Will players be happy if their value goes down if they are not put in a postion to shine? NO! How about the coach(es)? Do you think they'd be happy with a dismal season? NO! WE WERE NOT PLANNING ON TANKING AT ANY POINT....
I think it’s unavoidable in the salary cap era that teams go through cycles. A new staff will have some rope and time to set things up.
If Canales is a good coach and Young lives up to the #1 pick hype we’ll still prob stink this year lol
enjoy the rebuild!

We have to pay a bit more for the same players because the team is so bad. Call it a surcharge if you will. It's the price you pay to convince a good player to join your crappy team.
Hopefully we can front load some of the cost during the crappy reset year, and these guys are still playing well for the remainder of their contract
Least excitment before any season?

Feels like the team hasn’t bottomed out yet and we’re years from competing. The Young trade is devastating. If we’re lucky the team will draft well but it’ll take years.
i try to be optimistic but it seems guaranteed that Young is going to suck again. How many rookie QBs with terrible seasons turn it around?
