Nothing against Fields but it’s not a sure thing so why bother?

100%, you can’t put a cherry on top of a sundae that doesn’t exist.
it pretty much just all comes down to getting a QB and protecting that QB. If you don’t have that no one is going to carry the team for you.

He had 7 catches in 3 games for us, how could we possibly replace that?
Saying “Darnold to Dan Arnold” was priceless, how could we break that up?

If Fitterer pays Burns like an elite 3 down DE then I think that shows very poor judgement.
If he pays Burns that money but then doesn’t heavily invest in the D-line to free him up then he should be fired.

My biggest gripe with Fitterer is trading cmc to an in conference rival. I'd take less compensation if he went to the afc. Just watch when we finally go to the playoffs and having to play cmc and he stands in our way. In the afc we would only have to face him once every four years or in a super bowl. Thats what irks me with Fitterer though.
I don’t mean this as a knock on CMC but who knows how long he’ll be effective for.

I’d much rather draft for potential since it’s a gamble regardless. I’d be fine with AR at 9. It’d be a coup if they traded down too.

If we don't hire Wilks, I'd say there's a higher likelihood he goes back to Ron in WAS as an AHC instead.
Wilks as AHC for Ron would be hilarious since they are bad at the same stuff. I think Wilks is better at clock mgmt possibly.

For everyone that says we must have an offensive minded coach how do you feel about Sean McDermont and the success he has had? Should the Bills fire him for one of the offensive guru guys?
I think one of the rationales is that the offensive HC isn’t going to leave for a promotion. The team will be in a more stable position because the league favors offense so heavily.
I’m sure it can work the other way around but why fight the prevailing winds? The NFL likes points and wants to discourage punishing defenses.

It's crazy that meritocracy is seen as 'outside the box' thinking while cronyism/nepotism is seen as the tried and true way to build a staff. Not saying that's what you said, it's just the sense I get from the chatter from the usual NFL talking heads.
Yeah it’s shockingly stupid but plenty of these grown men are so no surprise.

Not really. Wilks is who he is. He's a defensive coach who is a good leader of men. The NFL has made it abundantly clear that offense is going to be the way moving forward with the rule changes and the now feather touch personal fouls to the QB. We need to hop on this boat with an offensive minded head coach instead of constantly fighting upstream.
Definitely agree. It’s also not like these defensive coaches don’t have their place too. It seems like Wilks ceiling was at DB coach ultimately. He’s elite and should be proud.
Wilks not going for it on the 4th downs that game was insane. I don’t think we had been stopped for negative yards that entire time. He chose his bedrock principles instead of actually thinking for himself. It’s maddening. I just got horrible Fox/Rivera flashbacks from it. I’ll never understand the calculation he came up with in his mind.
Did he really think TOM BRADY was going to get rattled being backed up against his own endzone?
I definitely want a young OC but I wonder if any of these young DCs would be different.

Conditional future 3rd day pick, sure

I don’t think you trade up for just any QB. I feel like most of the prospects teams want to trade up for, the team would never trade with you anyway.
I think you should take shots on a QB every year, but trading the farm for any QB found really set us back.

Late draft picks along the line wouldn’t hurt

Ya bro it’s a fluff comment and your post was what, exactly?
and yeah, you clearly do need help
I’m not sure where the negativity is coming from. To be clear I was referring to the reporting.
We don’t know how much or how little his wife will help. So hopefully it’s just kind of fluff. Hopefully Tepper isn’t doing a whole lot more than signing the checks too.

I do not have the upmost confidence in the decision making of this brain trust. Hoping for the best.
Hopefully we get lucky

What the fug would she know about football coaching? Even less than her husband. Great consul. Maybe Appaloosa will hire you as a consultant next. You probably know more about asset management than Nicole knows about coaching
I feel like it’s just one of those fluff kind of comments yah know?
If not then god help us.

It’s not that bad of a headline. Everyone is just grumpy because so far Tepper sux too.

What build? You are making assumption that Wilks is some genius who is gonna build a contender in one season. He won’t.
I think like Fox/Rivera he’ll have a higher floor that truly terrible coaches but yeah I’m not sure I see us in the playoffs every year.
-
That article is terrible, it feels like he’s just stirring the pot.
-
He’s def an excellent DB coach at a minimum
-
I think Shaq will be extended honestly. Org likes him I’m sure. As far as overpaid players go he’s not the worst.
I could see him favoring a release and he could move back towards the west coast. But could he fetch more on the open market than just getting a small extension here?

Don’t know how legit, but seems like Fangio to Carolina could be happening.
