The math here was simple. Beat the Bucs, be the coach. He didn't, so he isn't. I will always respect the hell out of him and be grateful that we played meaningful games in a season that Rhule tried to destroy. But the opportunity was there to take this team to its next level. Instead we punted on 4th and short from midfield and lost to the ghost of Tom Brady throwing "F it, run straight and fast" balls to Mike Evans.

Did he not like having a coach that will call his ass out? Was he not used to it? Arians isn't a great coach either but he's damn sure better than what they have now.
-
If the Cowboys don't step on their necks soon, Brady going to stop short hopping balls and win in the 4th. I hate the Cowboys but just want Brady to lose by 60 and not have a chance to win in the 4th again.

Not beating this shitty Bucs team gets more depressing by the hour.

Capers, Fox, Rivera. Capers had the most successful first season for any expansion team ever to that point. Never made it to the Super Bowl but the run in year 2 was one of the best we ever had. Fox got us to within minutes of beating the most decorated QB of all time and pulled us up from the cellar pretty damn fast. Rivera had the single best season of any coach but also squandered the most talent. Third best, but also one who underachieved in many ways.

I think the Chargers lost today and became Super Bowl favorites for the AFC next year at the same time. Coaching wise, Staley is Rhule adjacent. Both absolutely horrible at their job, but Staley had a ton to work with and only got this far. He cost them the playoffs last year. Got his 1a/1b receiver hurt in a meaningless game and then blew a 27 point lead in the playoffs this year. He makes about 6 or 7 inexcusable mistakes every game and gets bailed out half the time because his QB is that good. Even this game, the big things will be called out. But challenging the catch after Lawrence's hand was banged up was a terrible decision. First, it was a clear catch. Second, it gave the Jags more time to check out Trevor's hand without having to use a timeout.

Never gambled in my life. Sure wishing I had on this one.

Not being a fan of either team has made this game an absolute joy to watch. I'd be crying in a corner if this was the Panthers playing.
-
If they lose this game, its a franchise changer. It would feel horrible today, but getting rid of Staley will be best for them.

Come on...please let this happen lol

want a FG to win it

I would call it a 100% certainty. Only way he isn't fired is if they go on to win and then win the Super Bowl. Staley just sucks as a coach.

The meltdown hasn't even started. Just wait till like 5 minutes left in the fourth. They will do something stupid. Only question is if the refs bail them out. They've missed a half dozen important calls today.

The Chargers are the only team that I could see a 27-0 score on and believe that the final would be something like 31-30 at the end of the game.
-
I've seen enough Chargers games to know their coach is about to go on an absolute tear of bad/inexcusable decisions. Would not be the slightest bit surprised if the Jaguars have the ball with a chance to take the lead at some point in the 4th.

Bummer that the Rams couldn't finish the job. Lions would have been fun in the playoffs. Seahawks, not so much.

At least we aren't the Texans.

STEVE WILKS - FINAL POLL THREAD
jopie87 replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Got very close to an A grade. Last week, especially the 4th quarter last week was enough to not want him back. Any amount of aggressive calls last week and the team would be hosting a game next week. He coached timid, lost the game, lost the season, lost the job. -
Would set them back a decade. Dude is a brilliant coach, would take him in a second.

Someone find a picture of Jim flipping burgers and send to Tepper ASAP.

24 hours-ish ago I was pissed about the result of a sporting event that is played for entertainment purposes. Wins, losses, stats, none of it matters. I just want Hamlin to be okay. Real life makes everything else that happens between the lines inconsequential.

I think Ben Johnson would get better results out of Sam. I think Steichen gets better results from a dynamic rookie. I prefer Ben Johnson but would be happy with either.

Bears are going to get an entire rebuild for one pick. I hope it's not from us.

Can Sam Darnold play himself into becoming the 2023 starter?

Absolutely. Where is the next Wesley Walls. Where is the next Olsen. Team needs this element so bad.
