If Brooks gets injured then it just is what it is. It wouldn't make the top 20 disasters of the season. Also, he's a RB. They do get injured at higher rates than most positions.

If he gets injured on a very limited snapcount after taking half the season off it was probably never going to work out anyway

I expect a rookie RB to usually take it sideways and “dance” in the backfield longer than you would want.

Brooks seems like he has good vision though and the o-line should give him clear holes to aim for.

Chiefs game might be a rough debut but I hope he’s able to get some touches.

This is what I like about him. Constant forward momentum, no hesitation. Instead of a stutter step he hits a new gear when he jukes. Rare find out of any RB these days let alone a rookie.

  3. Hard to say when this season hinges on the QB and he's been so underwhelming.

I'm not sure how long of a leash Bryce is on so it's hard to tell whether the stuff I hate about the playcalling is on him or Canales. It still seems like they're trying to force him into the scheme instead of designing it around what he can do but that might be to evaluate him. So Canales is like Reich but with a much better run game, which in turns opens up the playbook a lot more.

Morgan I'm calling a wash so far.  The ground game improvement and the draft are enough for me to forgive his missteps.

This is true. I think guys like TD, Luke, Jake, Gross, Trey Boston all have been positive and hopeful about Panther moves since they retired or left the team. They'll give their opinion about things but arent overly critical. Steve Smith has been critical but since becoming a media guy he's become more neutral, and since being part of the panthers media team (I think?) he's been more Pro-Panthers. Cam has been honest with his takes which I appreciate, and I think being PC in the media is something that won't suit him. Therefore, it makes sense why they'd prefer to not have him around media wise.

The erasure started way before Cam commented on the team. The first critique I can remember from him was when he said no one bought into Rhule after the fact.

You’re mistaken about Smitty too. He was a whole analyst when Tepper put him on payroll. He has said more critical things about the Panthers than Cam ever has.

Logically, to me at least, it really seems like because cam isn't officially retired the team is erring on the side of caution and staying away.

The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication.

You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam.

Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.

Ive seen so many comments saying "durrr he beat that bad team huh huh." Im telling you these weirdos don't watch the game whatsoever. They have no idea what the Giants D is like.

Honestly, many of them do not understand the difference between your offense and defense. Seriously, anyone specifically saying Bryce won but he beat the worst team does not understand that their offense may be horrible but they can still have a good defense. And they don't understand that Bryce only plays with their defense on the field, and that's what you judge is play against.

So you have to explain what I wrote above to anyone who said "but the Giants suck." I don't understand why you have all these people on here that you have to explain this to. It's weird. I was all about getting Bryce out of here, but I'll admit he is looking better and I do want to see how he finishes the season. But ban anyone who said "the Giants suck though" when SPECIFICALLY talking about Bryce lol. Need a little intelligence check

Well lucky for us Bryce has been similarly mediocre against everyone

He's not getting better. The defense is playing better. He is the same he has always been. It's not going to be any better.

I'm fine with starting him to confirm that. It's just ridiculous that everyone is acting like he is improving when his stats are literally the same they have always been.

People happy he can win at all when there should be more concern that his ceiling is 1TD/200yd even against the Giants.

  8. He's been the worst quarterback in pro football for most of his career and game managed his way to two wins against bottom of the barrel teams. Let's be real here.

On the other end you have fans already planning the future around him because he's proven capable of rising to mediocrity for the win.

He's got a long way to go before we should even be thinking about him long term. The only reason this thread exists is because doing the bare minimum is progress for Bryce.

The thing is the dude could be 100% about football and only football and that doesn't mean it would ever translate to the field in the NFL. He obviously has the physical limitations but aside from that the dude just does not read the field well or make good in-game decisions. One would think the more practice, studying defenses, experience the better but reality is even with all that some guys just never have it. Which appears to be the case with Bryce.

In all walks of life and sports there's people who make up for the talent they lack by putting in more work than the naturally gifted folks. Remember the fateful dinner that won him the job was Bryce talking up his preparation. It was a much a part of his mythos as the super processor crap and he hasn't show a hint of any of that since he got here.

I think the fanbase would be more patient with if we saw him putting extra effort but he usually seems nonchalant, if anything.  I'm sure he watches film like everyone else but basic prep ain't good enough when you lack basic tools. We were told this guy was an especially hard worker and that hasn't proven true at all.

Anyone that believes that he spent the entire offseason 'watching netflix' probably also believed the 2024 Presidential polling numbers...

He's asked constantly about his preparation and that's the only time he's answered with any detail beyond "watch film" and "mental reps."

    edit: I forgot "trust God."

You'd think that Panthers fans of all people would understand the value of having two starting caliber RBs on the roster.

Starting calibur is not good enough. You can find that without giving up three picks for a guy who's going to miss a year. And those picks are critical given the current state of the roster. Brooks has to be elite or he is wasteful luxury pick for a franchise that can't afford it right now.

Bryce honestly played great yesterday. Bryce looked like a different guy out there. There is no reason to not start him the rest of the season now. My only complaint was that he drifted back to his right again on the 2pt conversion play gifting Chase Young a sack. He’s got to stop doing that.

Dave Canales looked like our biggest problem yesterday. The play calling was atrocious. The fact Jalen Coker wasn’t on the field a lot more is mind boggling. I assume they’re trying to give Miles a chance to show literally anything so they can trade him but enough is enough. The 3 screens after that late Saints score was something.

Im very pro tank but I’m ok with winning yesterday because it was mainly all the young guys contributing. The Saints are beyond awful but whatever.

The bar is real low if that was great. He was mid which is progress.
