I wouldn't call the best returner in the game "complete trash". I wouldn't refer to CP as trash at all, but at least call him " incomplete trash".

Not a free agent though.

I guess Cordarrelle Patterson

Gettleman literally said the same thing last draft, and then proceeded to draft Benjamin. The term "deep" is relative.

In reference to what we think we know pre-workouts, the first two picks wouldn't be half bad. I don't think that Grant will be the BPA in the third round though, because there may be too many WRs that grade out better.

Collins will be long gone. I doubt we pick a TE so early as well.

Panthers Final Decision On Hardy : No Thanks

Wishful thinking, by it's very nature is hope, not reality. -

Well, I could be wrong, but if he was suspended, then we would have saved some money. Here is the closest thing that I could find (so far) that speaks to player suspensions. -

You know what also irks me about the whole way that Hardy was handled? If the Panthers really weren't interested in re-signing Hardy, then they may as well had played him. We would have gotten our money's worth as opposed to him getting 13 million dollars for basically nothing. Oh, that's right, it hurt Jerry Richardson's sensibilities and would have caused the team---and more importantly, the shield---irreparable harm. Richardson couldn't be more like the 49ers with Ray McDonald who really had something invested in their player than we had in a player whom we were kicking to the curb anyway. We could have gotten our money's worth, then kicked Hardy to the curb, but for Richardson acting like a pussy cat as opposed to a Panther. -

This thread is ironic on some many levels. I could break it down even further, but I am sure I would step on some toes even more, so I am going to leave it alone. I am going to quell the bulldog within me this morning. -

Anyone that thought we had a championship team is delusional. Even Gettleman and Rivera mentioned after the fact something to the effect that we would take one on the chin as far as taking a step back in personnel to further our cap situation in the future. I do not believe that anyone seriously thought that we had a championship caliber team with as many holes that we had at key positions. I just don't believe it. We should have tagged and traded or just let Hardy walk. We would have had a much more balanced team that may have finally been able to get over the hump. With Jared Veldheer at LT and another legit playmaker at WR, we may have possibly been able to beat Seattle. -

Using hyperbole is such a lazy and largely meaningless way to debate. I guess that just like this mentality of the "first person that breaks a news story is a great journalist" has basically turned into a circle jerk for message board members, the tool of using hyperbole as a means to bolster your message-board-amen-choir status is indicative of that same circle jerk mentality. -

Hell, it's hardly even newsworthy, Anyone that knows how this FO operates has been waiting for the other shoe to drop for months. -

If you're referring to Jason Cole, who is an award winning and respected sports journalist, have at it. Someone used Cole in a Bleacher Report article, so what? That makes Cole, or every article written on Bleacher Report invalid? Give me a break! Cole was the first to say that there was some interest by some with the Panthers organization to bring Hardy back. I guess that just speaks of his bad reputation. Obviously a player can be re-signed after they hit free agency if the will between both parties is there. They can obviously be signed by someone else, also. Teams can and do at times make the public aware that they will not re-sign a player before the free agency period begins. You can argue with me with semantics all you like, but the fact is nothing is "official" until the Panthers come out and publicly say it. Even still, no one is going to give anyone a cookie for reporting it as "official" before it's official. -

Sometimes. Allowing someone to hit free agency is effectively the same thing, so it's not even worth debating. -

Basically, it's not official until the Panthers FO comes out and publicly says he won't be back. Anything else is officially speculation until then. I still don't get why people think that breaking news that everyone already expects will happen anyway is indicative of good journalism in this day and time of the Internet and social media. It's almost like a who-has-the-biggest-penis contest, which is not indicative of good love making. -

And that's why I scoff at people who try and belittle others who make a valid argument as to why our FO will fall on the sword to support the shield to the detriment of the team and support of its players. These are the same people who try and say that dismissing Dorial Green-Beckham out of hand is all about business, with no regards to the importance of the moral component in the minds of our front office, and how those types of decisions can in fact have real consequences towards---and actually be the difference between---winning and losing (which is the bottom line---the business---of any NFL franchise). -

No. The Hardy-Carolina conundrum will die a slow death---in the Huddle, and especially in Panthers history. To me, it's actually quite befitting considering all of the viable debate, and, arguably, mismanagement or mishandling of the situation on so many levels that it speaks to. -

I would hardly call Hardy a time bomb. How many times has he been suspended? Even if he is this time, it's more about acquiescing to societal demands than anything else. All you're doing is just regurgitating the verbiage of Gettleman in a clever attempt to make a weak apples and oranges comparison. I see that you strategically called Harvin a "headache player" as opposed to a "time bomb". There was really nothing amazing about them making it back to a championship after they traded Harvin, because they effectively made it to the championship without Harvin the preceding season. -

I think that everyone is so perturbed now because they are just mad about different aspects of the situation. I would guess that most are upset due to the FO's general choir boy mentality, and its caving in to public pressure before the dust had barely even been stirred up, much less settled. As for letting Hardy walk, that's reportedly what they were going to do anyway (if you believe Voth and Igo). That's in fact what they are doing now. The difference is that we missed out on a young, quality LT who could have protected Cam's blind side for years to come. If we couldn't outright sign Veldheer when he became a free agent, we may have been able to negotiate with all parties involved into some type of tag and trade deal---and possibly even have had Denarius Moore and/or a pick thrown into the deal---that would have sent Hardy to Cali, and Veldheer to Charlotte. It just didn't make much sense to "rent" a guy that you never intended to keep, while simultaneously betting your franchise QB's health and your offense's ability to efficiently and successfully produce at a high level. This was not a case of setting your team up to succeed. But, it's water under the bridge. Gettleman is still a relatively new GM, so he is still afforded some mulligans (outside of the normal gambles, failures and successes that are part of a GM's job). I just hope that he learns from this error. To me, you shouldn't tag someone unless you plan to keep them, or have a specific deal in place that sends them elsewhere. I -

Let's go to Tiffany's and find the most expensive Band-Aid that we can find. -

And that was the most nonsensical move that Gettleman has made during his management. Just utterly ill-advised without any meaningful justification. That money should have gone to Jared Veldheer and other upgrades or less inexpensive inexpensive Band-Aids. Sigh -
WTF is this about a Dez Bryant video worse than Ray Rice's?
top dawg replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kind of true, but they are only looking after their interests. The thing is is that they risk alienating Dez irrevocably, so they may have to franchise him to keep him there for the next two years, and after that he will likely be gone. No way they want to pay him QB franchise tag money for a third year (which is a rule). At that point he would still be young enough to command top dollar, and leave them looking relatively stupid provided that he has stayed clean. Not likely, but he could also sit out. Perhaps that is what he meant when he referenced being betrayed. They apparently knew about it and gave assurances that it wouldn't be an issue if he behaved himself until contract time. Then, "bam", they Pearl Harbor him at contract time. http://www.tmz.com/2015/02/25/dez-bryant-ive-been-betrayed-video-tape//?adid=TMZ_Search_Results
