  1. Y'all do realize we'll be in Nickel defensive sets primarily...that ONLY calls for 2 IDL, 2 Edge, two off ball LBs and 5 DBs, and that will be somewhere between 65 to 70 pct of the snaps.

The "34" base defense only requires 3 DL, so if we carry 5 for now the numbers work, the depth quality is the concern, not the quality.

Also it's 3 TEs and Ricci, he's a fullback...that's normal as well even if you wanna classify him casually as a 4th TE.

Reich offense is rb by committee. The odds are a reflection of that

Jonathan Taylors 232 carries in 2021, and 332 carries in 2022 would like to have a word with you....

If anything the offense features the ''primary'' back keep in mind over those years guys like Nyheim Hines, and Marlon Mack were also on that Colts roster.

All signs point to Sanders being a ''big'' part of the offense which is why I think we haven't seen another vet added -- Chuba, Blackshear, and possibly Peoples are probably penciled in as the depth.

For the most part the offense Thomas Brown comes from with the Rams featured Gurley while he was healthy, we saw a bit of a split / back and forth with the other back I can't think of at the moment; but both offense have a history of ''featuring'' the number one.

With the shift in the market, Sanders deal is the largest given to a free agent RB this off-season.  We needed help but the contract may ultimately cause some regret.  Still hopeful personally

His annual value on that deal is NOT nearly enough to be a cause for concern. It's like 6-7M per season for a HB who's 25 currently.

The backs that didn't get ''paid'' are the ones seeking CMC / Derrick Henry Money -- hell even Joe Mixon took a pay cut, as well as Aaron Jones.

You still have to have legit talent at the position, and teams like NYG choosing to pay a mid QB 40M, over the guy that was they reason their team functioned is a perfect example of how desperate teams are at QB, they'd overpay an average to below average guy franchise money, while ostracizing their best player in the course.

Im assuming around 80 or so to begin with?

CJ Stroud's is 73 ovr, with 89 THP via EA marketing ''Lie Detector'' promo.

They did not give away any of Bryce's -- he's probably a 74 to 76 ovr, with a weaker arm as most felt Bryce's was ''good'' enough to make all the throws but not elite.

I've been on beta and Mingo is def not that low.

Adam Thielen 83 DJ Chark 77 Laviska Shenault 75 Terrace Marshall Jr 73 Damiere Byrd 72 Jonathan Mingo 72 Shi Smith 70 Marquez Stevenson 69 Gary Jennings 67

All rookies were lowered INTENTIONALLY during the beta, he was like a 62 ovr, and Bryce was a 63 or 64 as to not spoil rookie reveals.

The kickoff rule in the XFL seemed to work well. The kick off and receiving team are just ten yards apart from each other, with the kicker alone from the usual spot. The receiver is waiting in the zone between the 20 and the end zone and besides the kicker and receiver, everyone else is stationary until the receiver touches/catches the ball.

It’s made kickoffs and returns more interesting and a bit more strategic.

This ^^^ but they too proud to add this.

Team has already announced that YGM will play OLB.

I don't think that will work at all, but we'll see.

He hadstand up reps coming out of Penn St. but keep in mind we will be in Nickel over 60% of the time, he will still be a ''defensive end''. It's a positional change but I expect his role to be similar overall, some Nickel DE / DT pass rush reps.

Haynes / Barno / Johnson are more likely the OLB's that will feature in base fronts. YGM will get snaps I'm sure, one thing to keep in mind and people forget this because his sack numbers were low, but he was one of the better run defenders for us last year.

So his ability to set the edge in the 3-4 as an OLB is likely undervalued by most atm.

Because he's 5'10 and 185 lbs. The 204 was probably water weight and caloric intake unrelated to weight lifting.

It blows my mind how many people give 0 F's about an NFL QB being the size of a JV HS football player.

He has undeniable talent, but people are ignoring a HUGE red flag. Durability long term is a real concern.

Hes not a small QB, he's tiny. He's smaller than most of the people typing on here.

You hit it on the head. If Brian Burns were in a 3-4 when he turned pro he would have at least three 10 sack seasons by now. He gained weight and filled out his frame over time to better suffice as a 4-3 end, but let’s be honest, it’s always been difficult for him against the run. He’s no longer out of position and will not have to line up against 310 pound offensive tackles on every play.

OLB aka EDGE defenders still line up vs the OT's the difference is gap responsibilities, and the fact he'd be in a 2 point stance vs 3.

The new alignment IMO has a chance help tap into Barnos athleticism as his physique camp is Brian.

DB, Roy, and McCall are the only IDL over 315. Shy and DeShawn size wise are 3-4 DEs, as they're both listed right at / under 300 pounds.

I think we see a body or two added via the draft,or latter free agency.

Considering we'll be in nickel personnel the majority of the time, I'd say that personnel group should be what people really key into as that is roughly the defense you're in 65% of the time or more depending on the opponent.

I think it's why we went heavy with the investment in Bell and Rowe. Playing Chinn next to Shaq as the 2nd LB, Rowe as the big nickel, with Woods, and Bell at Safety.

This would give us the best mix of pass / run defense when facing 11 personnel, and being flexible enough to handle 12 from an offense.

I don't understand the infatuation with Young.

If he's on USF none of you would care, it's the ALA ties. Is he intellectual sure, but his arm is just above average, which is documented by evaluators, he's not a field stretcher, and his speed is mid.

There's no physical trait that pops like with Kyler's speed, he's just a really good college QB.

But once he takes a few NFL licks at 190'ish pounds y'all gonna be sick knowing his build which is slim + the lack of weight were a BIG risk.

  11. Some of the ways y'all look at positions makes me question a lot. This isn't the 90s where guys way less at some of today's positions.

    We're likely looking at:

    DL - Brown, McCall, Tuttle

    ILB - Shaq, Smith

    Edge - Burns, Luvu

Tuttle is a confirmed NT in our system as reported by a team source yesterday.  I imagine McCall/Roy and a rookie would back him up.

300 lbs is not a traditional NT, he's more likely the DE opposite DB, NT right now defaults to MCCall originally listed at 380, but now listed at 345.

  13. I'd be fine with AR, gotta keep in mind that we're forecasting a bit, Stroud and CJ ''are what they are'' accurate QBs primarily one with traditional size. In three years what could they ''add'' to their game to be possibly generational franchise type QB's?

More accuracy, Young is going to gain much more weight, and they are both ''mobile'' but they are not 11 on 11 run threats.

If we look at BAL, and PHI success it makes sense to consider AR as mechanics, etc. can be worked on over time, but AR already comes in a TOP athlete in the NFL and has that to lean on while developing. With that in mind in three years IF he's dedicated he would bring more to the table than either Young or Stroud.

Him (AR), plus our OL, and a competent run game could be scary. I'd be ok with Stroud or AR, I don't want a QB that's 5'10 who has a ''playing'' weight in the 190s. That's basically Steve Smith at QB.

I do wonder if Shaq would be looked at differently if he didn’t have to replace luke… which he was never gonna be able to do

i also wonder what we’d think if he was playing the way he was supposed to be drafted… a sidekick of luke able to fly around the field

He was drafted to replace TD, and Ron pandered to vets so Shaq was rotational, aside from health Luke would still be playing most likely.

Shaq came in as a will LBer. Not a Mike.

Sign Carr as bridge. Get Stroud or Young (ideally Stroud) even if it means trading up.

Carr isn't signing to be a bridge, or for bridge money.

He's going to sign somewhere where there is no immediate threat to his position as ''the guy''.

NO / TB make the most immediate sense, neither has a 1st round pick, and are likely to spend to attain his services.

The Raiders seem to be the Jimmy G destination, it just kinda makes to much sense.

Jordan Love has a 20M+ 5th year option value, so if they pick that up it stands to reason Rodgers is as good as gone, and he already said no to SF, so you'd think NYJ was the answer, as the Packers said they won't send him to a NFC team.

The staff hired is impressive.  Appears Tepper has gone 360 the other way

I was at Maryland when both Boomer and Frank were there…impressive they both actually attended class   It is difficult to not like Frank.

anyone who has followed the Panthers from the beginning is probably shell shocked. We have heard ‘the next great thing’ multiple times

I trust Reich to make the right qb evaluation, particularly since he has staff around him to give varying opinions    As example,   I am no fan of Levis, frightening that he reminds me of Wentz, but if that is who they choose, that’s who they choose

    bottom line, have to win.

360° would return you to the dame direction 😅

    He pulled a 180°

CJ Stroud also has question marks.  The Georgia game opened eyes and he was amazing there so spending assets on him does make sense.  He is no way a sure thing.  Average arm strength is a question.  If I am betting on a QB from these 3 players I think he has a good chance.

If you are talking Stroud vs Young because Young will be injured more I don’t see it.  Stroud has a lean leg build and can easily get injured as well.

    Young is my guy

Young expected to be sub 6' sub 200

    Stroud 6'3 218...

    Not even close.

in the landscape of the modern NFL, if you don't have a QB.....you don't actually matter.   Which IMO means you can't look at the QB hit rate in a vacuum.    It means you simply have to buy the lotto ticket and keep scratching until one hits.

not sure why it matters if someone traded up or not.  Just matters where the NFL starters are found.    Which is the first round overall.  That's where you have to take your swings.

No one's saying NOT to take a swing, in your own example you say, "it means you simply have to buy the lotto ticket and keep scratching until one hits"...

So I pose this....how do you keep getting lotto tickets without future 1st rounders....?

The point is that the bust rate is so high, it makes VERY LITTLE sense to mortgage multiple 1sts for a QB. There's no generational QB in this class. Not one that most folks would agree on, there's a couple "good ones" and a couple "boom or bust" ones. None worth multiple firsts.
