Anyone who watched film knows Bryce is playing with no confidence and should be benched. Both Warner and Daniel’s also broken down Bryce rookie season and both said that he has zero shot and wasn’t the reason for the panthers struggles.

Well they were wrong on that last part. He was most certainly a reason for the panthers struggles last year. He touched the ball every play.

The difference is you give the rookie a pass.

He’s no longer getting a pass after a full year and offseason.

I just flat out disagree here, I don't think his height factors in at all. Other short QBs have been significantly more successful and able to read the field while countless 6'4 QBs are just like Bryce in terms of inability to see and read the field.

His height isn't the issue, it's that the super processor we were sold on is more of a UNIVAC I

It’s not the only issue but it’s a big one.

Height may not matter to all 5’10” guys, but it matters to our 5’10” guy, since he is consistently on his tippy toes and has to jump throw his screen passes.

It may be all in his head and he is tip toeing unnecessarily…but his height is causing him to play small, and that’s all that matters currently.

I agree with you though; there is a lot more causing him to struggle too. Not just height.

The defense isn’t the issue and that’s my point. The Bryce experiment has failed, for now. He needs to be benched, and should have been benched last year. The Patriots are sitting Drake Maye who will likely be miles ahead of where Bryce was at this time last year. Why can’t the Panthers do that?

    Drake Maye has physical talent.

I’d drop the “for now” regarding Bryce. He’s done.

This should change the perspective people use to have against Cam and his completion percentage, and doubting his ability to throw.

He had ass receivers and an oline and pushed the envelope. The guy we got now is a toddler in comparison but hey, he's 80% today right?

Teddy taught me that. Completion percentage is the most over cited “positive” attribute of a QB.

Agreed, just wondering if there was any sentimental folks out there that would like another go around.

I’d love if Corral got another shot here.

I used to argue with @mrcompletely11 about him all the time. Only guy who liked him more than me was that Young Lion guy. Forget his name.

Either way, getting attached to a player is a hell of a drug. Probably own MrC an apology. I was a butthurt bitch at times.

  6. Cam changed my thoughts on QB stats. I saw the media contort and misrepresent his statistics over the years, often completely leaving out his rushing production, making him look bad.

End of the day, none of that mattered anyway. I never felt like he couldn’t move the ball down the field. That’s all that matters. Move the ball against a defense that doesn’t want that to happen, and allow your team to be in position to score.

So the ultimate QB stat to me? Points per game.

Can you lead/move/will your offense down the field? If so, the stats will come.

We'd have to accidentally get trapped into a situation like this.  Canales has already told us there is no QB competition in Carolina.  Imagine not having to compete for the job of "NFL QB", it's really insane if you think about it.

I’d have to assume he has a guarantee he’s coach next year no matter what. Tep wants every chance to save face on Bryce.

I find it hard to believe any coach can look at what Bryce did last year and not bring in competition otherwise.

I don't blame Dan at all for the Burns situation.   My biggest concerns for Dan that are entirely on him so far is the draft and personnel decisions feel exactly like fitterer.  Maybe that said these players will pan out but we will see.  I juat don't see the vision.  I hate taking old "raw" players anyways and then the players themselves don't seem to fit any vision or scheme.  It all just feels like a hodgepodge of different players thrown together that don't fit together.

You may end up being proved correct.

Hoping that’s not the case, but totally understandable.

  9. Johnson/Leota standing out is a sight for sore eyes. What a win for us if they step up their game. Good to see Barno too.

After an evening at Golden Corral, I had an experience in the bathroom that can only be described as "Panther-esque".

We just needed 1 of these guys to turn a corner and we may luck out with more production than I hoped for.

  10. We just need to give Dan the benefit of the doubt until he shows he shouldn’t be GM.

It’s my opinion that Burns can’t be held against him.

I understand anything reminding us of Fitt/Rhule leaves a bad taste, and Morgan may end up a terrible GM, but I’m willing to give him a couple seasons with judgement aside.

Naturally, we all can do what we want, and I absolutely could be coping/holding on to fandom of Dan the player; but it’s allowed me to enjoy the off-season more. And I have, outside of the bad feeling I have about the QB position.

Bryce just had nothing to benefit from by throwing.   He knew Carolina or Houston would take him.  Throwing had 0 chance of helping and could only hurt him.   So he didn't throw.

That's different than being the consensus #1 overall QB though of 32 teams.  The bad teams at the top dictate the convo.  Bryce's size and skill set alone would obviously make him not #1 for many teams and schemes.  He isn't a generic fits all offenses QB.  Tons of teams paid zero attention to him in reality to even rank the top guys.  Plenty of teams weren't going to invest any energy into breaking down Stroud, Young, etc.  Fruitless time and energy.

Can go all the way back to Cam.  Everyone slated Cam to go #1 overall leading up to the draft....but only once people basically knew Carolina was going to take him.  Change who is at the top of the draft, Cam easily could have had an epic fall.

Except if Cam fails, the pick still would be justified by his freak physicals.

Bryce just looks comically embarrassing as a selection if he fails.
