I thought the charge should be listed under "dead cap" since both are free agents and not on the roster. They could re-sign but the number would be different. Mis-understanding unless the numbers add up correctly on the left.

Youre hung up on those numbers given to panther FAs, rough estimate after great years for all with the given super increase in cap via TV money. Even if theres 200 million in cap space, I totally disagree with paying a very good RT top 5 LT money, NO WAY! You and most others feel different, and you gave a very good effort...a real Moton performance!! But at last my mind hasnt changed, too set in my beliefs. They have served me very well and been proven over history.

Right about Moore and his weak TDs, no defensive except blaming others(QBs, OCs). Just to add TDs and WRs are a.....how do I say....they dont go hand in hand. Juilo Jones(as others) have had super low TDs for a few years in elite careers. That field is smaller closer to goal-line less room to work for type of WR that Moore is. For sure tho, TDs number are weak, but hes the only WR to reach 1,200 scrimmage yards in each of the last 2 seasons. Thats very impressive feat, given all the other elite WRs. Shame its harder to compare to RT, since they dont have "stats". You maybe right about me over-valuing the WR, there are more in draft the last couple years. League has a good, not perfect method to show value, they pay WR nearly 2x the average of RTs it feels like.

Wraping this up, where do you have RT on your value chart for the 22 positions? Say all are good players, all equal level of talent/age etc.

Rough number is fine, theres too many factors, try not to over think it.

Where do you stand on the importance of the Oline to a football team? Just give us a rough guess. Try not to overthink it. lol

You are hung up on this whole "I'm not paying a top RT, top LT money." We are going to pay a very good T, very good money. And it will not stop us from competing.

Maybe in the future we will have more talent than money. But at this point in time. We have the resources to take care of Moton. And it is the right thing to do.

After all these years of paying aging vets top money. You'd think folks would appreciate a young talent getting paid while he is still in his prime.

I'm done. But by all means continue on, as it is more fun than chores.

First, you are massively under valuing both the RT position, and Motons ability to play RT.

Second, by the time his contract is up, Moton will have gone from one of the top paid, to one of the not so highly paid.

Third, by the time Motons contract is up, we will have 4 more years to fill out the rest of the line. By then, we should be in a position to let Moton walk.

Fourthly, if you want to compete, you need a good Oline. And right now, that starts with Moton.

Lastly, there are like 3 people that are in your camp. I wonder why there are so many who disagree with you? Maybe cuz you are wrong on this one.

    How old is Myles Garrett?

And Chase Young is definitely better.

Burns really needs to step up.

10 sacks a season should be his floor and we should expect 14 to 16 a year out of him.

He needs to start converting these pressures. He definitely missed several tackles on QBs last year.

You are in a thread called "Brian Burns-best young edge in the league." And you think he needs to "Step up"?

Maybe we should ask opposing QBs to hold on to the ball for another 1/2 second if they would? That might improve his stat count. Or maybe improve the Secondary, to give BB the extra time he needs to get to the QB?

I''m sure if we put our minds to it, we can work something out to get him over that last hurdle into greatness.

You are forgetting Paradis and Reddick signed/added years on the contract to lower this years cap number. Its about 13 in dead cap coming for both, plus Boston(around 5ish). You can sign and you know Darnold and Moore want money right now or in 2022. Most teams sign players before the 5th year, just like the recent RT Ram example. Its coming, big big contracts are coming, hide behind that 5th year if you want, they want new deals before it.

We do not know the roll over, I think its safe to place the value around 5. Weird math, carry the one...... about 35-43 million, hence my 35-ish comment. If the reports are true about Moton wanting top overall tackle, you people can sign off and support that.. Im going to pay Moore, Burns, and god Im hoping to Darnold a insane amount too. Moton doesnt fit in my formula.

Gotta give you credit kid. You've found a hill, and you're ready to die on it. Never give up, Never surrender. Defend that hill until you die. Minstrel's shall write songs of your struggles. Children will hear the stories of the fan who didn't want Moton. Your name shall go down in infamy. "All hail @Basbearhe did not die well."

    I get you.

That's the title of the article,  and Greg did have mixed feelings.

And the thread has some good discussion on retiring numbers and some nice stuff about Greg.  Now, you have to cut a little slack since we're in the dead-zone between OTA's and camp.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The thread itself is fine. I gots no beef of what you're throwing down. But that title. It's gotta go. Now granted, I didn't read the actual article, but still, I feel justified in my feelings. lol

Carolina Panthers: Greg Olsen's 'mixed feelings' over number giveaway (catcrave.com)

“You know I’ll be honest, I had mixed feelings about it. Donnie (Toner) in the (Panthers’) equipment room texted me and kind of gave me a heads up. My whole thing was I didn’t want the kid to feel any pressure from me. That was his number (Marshall wore 88 in college). That’s what he wanted. I’ve heard he’s a great kid. I don’t have any animosity. I’m glad he’s going to wear it and hopefully, he’s a great player. I have no ill will.”

Sorry dude, but I gotta say it. That title...it's clickbaity as all get out. You're better than that. C'mon man

Personally no if its north of tag. It a hard choice, Moton is what you want in a NFL player. I just do not view him as a top 3 RT/T/OL. Hes just below the great ones and it would not wise to over pay at one of the lesser valued potions......just like the panthers have already done at RB and LB.

Its a tough choice, I just dont view him or the position he plays as top self. Darrel williams is a name us panthers fans know, he just signed that contract this year-

Thats more like were I want to be at RT. He played great last too, shame panthers forced him to play LT when Moton should have been there. Panthers could have solved their OTs if they did that. OL needs rebuilding with or without Moton too. Brown, Moore, and Christ are a start, in fact christ maybe the new RT was the coming reports.

I say if you sign DJ moore and Moton still wants 18+, tag him again. Then look at the trade market for his league value or play out another year on the tag and let him walk.

Let me ask you who would you rather spend cap space on DJ Moore or Moton? For me Moton is down the line after many like Burns(coming soon) and if Darnold is the choosen one, he needs about 40 million in cap space very soon too. Id go as far as picking Robby Anderson over Moton in the short term cap space game. Djack is another, simply not enough for everyone.....like I said hard choices.

I'm sorry dude, but OL is in need of talent. You just cannot let Moton get away. And yes, you can pay your RT money, if you don't have any other OL getting paid.

Our OL is in bad shape. Until we fix it for realz, Moton needs to stay.

  8.  Horn may be the only one to start day 1. But man, everyone but Deonte should see plenty of playing time.

As more, and more teams transition to more 4 and even 5 WR sets, we are going to be glad we nabbed Taylor.

By the end of the year I expect TERRACE to push DJ for best WR on the roster. Those 2 are going to battle for years.

Nice haul by Rhule, Fitt, and Co. I tell ya what.

It’s way too early, but PFN had a 2022 top 50 and 10 were OL and another 16 honorable mentions and 5 were OL. So, 15 of top 66, a little under 25%, which based on 22 starters is about the same ratio so I guess it’s about average. No idea if they are uncurling underclassmen but should be plenty to go heavy OL, only problem is the lack of a 2nd, which is typically a great spot for IOL.

The way I look at it is, Paradis, Miller, and Moton played rather well together. So that side should be ok. Not great by any means, but not a total dumpster fire either. Put BC at LG, and throw everyone else at the LT spot. May the best man win. Plus we have Tremble to help, and both CMC, and Chuba are very good at Picking up the blitz.

It may not be top shelf, but we should be able to go to war with that lineup.

I would not be adverse to throwing some money at a LT in FA, but only on a real LT that can man the position for years. If that fails. Depending on how this year goes, an all Oline draft may not be out of the question.

This team is set up so that Oline is the last unit in need of attention. Fix that LT spot once and for all, and this team has potential.

Please turn your reading comprehension on next time. We are in a damn OL thread. My post was entirely about the OL and why the ranking is worse this year even though we played better than expected. The guys we added aren’t Wirfs, Orlando Brown, McCoy or Ramzcyk level talents.

Damn, you have a complex like people are insulting your ugly baby. We aren’t talking about the rest of the team and nobody’s going bonkers. Rhule and Fitterer don’t need your help. They’ve done fine so far but the OL still needs work. Marty dismantled the talent on this team with a horrific set of two drafts and throwing money away to try and compete. We’ve added a lot of talent and if you read my posts even when I wanted to tank, I was never expecting to compete until 2022 or so. 🤦‍♂️

You are a trip. It’s amazing that someone who only thinks they have a valid thought process is floored when people don’t agree.

The best part is we don’t give a crap about your attempt to make people better, which is pretty pathetic on an Internet message board but I digress. We are in a thread on the preseason ranking of the OL. Guess what, the discussion is going to be about that. WTF does patience and waiting until we see if the FAs play better than they ever had or seeing if 3rd and 6th round rookies play better than draft slots have to do with this thread? Nothing. You are just trying to project your pretty pompous opinions about stuff that’s not relevant. Good day sir. If you can’t handle opinions before the season and require patience maybe this isn’t the right place for you.

Oh nooo, our Oline is gonna suck. We never ever put any effort into improving it. Is that better?

  14. 21 minutes ago, stbugs said:

Lol. Dude, you are in a thread about the OL. Are we supposed to talk about something else? No one in here has said we don’t like Rhule and we don’t like Fitterer. We’ve only said that our preseason rankings are pretty much spot on. We did not invest heavily in OL like Tampa and NO have done pretty well at recently with Wirfs, McCoy, Ruiz and Ramzcyk. Doesn’t mean we aren’t excited about Horn, but we can be legitimately worried about the OL. It’s been a legit concern since 2017. Don’t be shocked if we invest heavily on OL in the next draft unless Christensen, Moore and Brown play way better than their draft slot and we actually extend Moton.

Stop worrying about Rhule and Co.’s feelings. We are in much better shape overall than still having Marty and Ron. It’s ok for us to be excited by the D and offensive weapons but also be a bit hesitant on the OL. I know I’m even cautiously optimistic about Darnold.

Yeah, I should have known asking for patience was to much to ask.

Yeah, waiting until we actually, you know, see these guys play in real games before we allow our angst to run amok was asking too much. Instead of focusing on what is good, let's just harp on what is perceived to be bad.

Ah, the Huddle. Where folks can harp and complain to their hearts content. But you ask for a little patience? Boom, out go the lights.

  15. 8 minutes ago, stbugs said:

They were better than expected but technically speaking according to just PFF scores, Erving and Elflein is a downgrade at both spots over Okung and Reed. You are going from 73 and 63 to 58 and 48. That’s going from good and ok to ok and bad.

I know there’s always optimism and hope but raw data wise we are a worse OL than last year. The other worrisome part is that we added some more guys with injury histories, but they haven’t been solid like Okung when healthy. We have to pray that the OL, especially Moton and Paradis, stay healthy.

Positions we upgraded over the OffSeason. DL, LB, CB, WR, RB, TE, and throw in QB, because Sam just has to be better than Teddy. We could also say moving Chinn to S upgrades them as well.

We also added 6 guys for the Oline.

That is an awful lot of talent in just 1 OffSeason. Maybe we can be grateful we have a competent staff in place for once. And be patient enough to let them finish building this team, before we go bonkers?

I thought they did fairly well last year.  I am actually not too worried about the Oline. We added a lot of depth in FA and some starting competition in the draft. I think they will be alright.

Maybe that Oline is not as stacked as folks would prefer. But 2 short years ago this team had little talent, and more holes than Swiss Cheese.

I have no fear that if Rhule and Co. continue to build as competently as they have to date. The Oline will be in a better place sooner than later.

My God people. This only Rhules 2nd year. His 1st with Fitt. Maybe, just maybe we can give them more time?

There’s a difference between “didn’t invest” and “didn’t invest enough in my opinion”. What they said tells you they don’t even know that we drafted two OL, which undermines anything else they said if they don’t even know that.

Rhule and Co., in 2 short years, have put together a Roster that is as good as we have seen in a long time. One that most fans can agree will challenge, and compete with almost everyone.

BUT...because the Oline isn't the bestest in the whole wide world. You have folks up in arms that things weren't done properly.

The building of this team is yet to be completed. Maybe we can wait until the process is complete, before we decide to burn the place down?
