All this rationalizing bad QB play now.  Let’s just hope that we aren’t losing 21-3 when the season starts.  Unfortunately, I haven’t seen much from Rhule or Tepper to make me confident that they have any idea what they’re doing.

Wow, for only 3 sentences, that is a whole lotta negative. lol

I don’t have a full on erection but the blood is pumping. Our defense could be nice and carry us while Sam finds his legs.

Most folks are with you in regards to the Defense. It truly does have a chance to be really good.

It's the Offense that has folks more than a little nervous.

I don’t understand which part of what you said is exclusive to LT over RT. I’m sure teams want their RT fending off DEs too lol.

LT is the QBs blind side. Hence, the need for your LT to be able to fend off those pesky DEs. Longer arms assist in that endeavor.

So, if you have two Tackles with equal ability. The one with the longer arms goes to LT.

Yes, DEs can rush from both sides. But...First, and foremost, you have to protect your QBs blind side.

It’s going to turn out being a bad pick. All the tackles we passed up on. Don’t believe a thing Rhule has said. The dude still truly believes that he is coaching in college at Temple or Baylor, not the Carolina Panthers. Christensen went from being a LT to an elite guard and now to a RT. We could’ve had Jenkins, Eichenberg, Cosmi or Wyatt Davis a plug and play week 1 guard.

Dude, it's practice. Maybe stick with Trolling, because actual football doesn't seem to be your thing.

And...throwing out Draft Picks we could have gotten is @stbugs deal, get your own thing.

  5. OMG people. It is practice. They are trying things. Nothing is set in stone. What happened last week, what happened this week, none of it matters. Sheesh.

Keep your panties on, at least until Training Camp. Then you can overreact.

lol telling the Huddle not to overreact. Has that ever worked?

Why would arm length be required at LT but not RT?

Because in football, low man wins. As longer arms keep that man at bay better than shorter arms. And LT is the QBs blind side. Most teams like their LT to be able to fend off those DEs before they get into his body. The only way to prevent low man from winning, is to keep that low man at bay.

Hence. LTs need to have longer arms than the RT.

Which is all irrelevant. Good teams attack your weaknesses. If that weakness is on the outside, that is where they attack. If it is on the inside, that is where they attack. So you need a balanced line. Which is easier said than done. At least that is how it seems for the Panthers anywho.

  7. I mean, can we not all agree that this is both, a good way to find out what your QB is made of? While also giving you an idea on just how much of the Offense you can feed him?

Put your players in position to fail, to give yourself an idea of what they need to succeed.

Damm, it just may be crazy enough to work.

  8. IMO, they want to put pressure on these guys to see where their breaking point is. It gives them an idea on how much they can throw at them.

I think Rhule is trying to find out how much he can put on Sam's plate before he crumbles. The more Sam does, the more Rhule can trust him.

Short story long, Rhule needs to find out if he has to coddle Sam. Which is not good. Or can Sam be the man. Which is a good thing. Makes sense to me.

    Great short article on Tremble

Panthers OC Joe Brady says Tommy Tremble is not ‘just a run blocker’ (usatoday.com)

“I think Coach Ang (tight ends coach Brian Angelichio) has done a great job of working with him in developing his game in the pass game. . . I don’t see Tommy as a guy that’s just a run blocker. I see a guy that I think ‘Is he gonna be a complete tight end?’ So it’s our job right now, OTAs and training camp, to just find out exactly what he can [do] and just kinda evolve and roll with that.”

I love how this staff works. They are not afraid to see what a player can do. Then coach them up. They don't pigeon hole their talent. They put them through their paces, then integrate that into the playbook. "We already know what you can do, let's find out what you didn't know you could do".

This staff loves athletes with versatility. Then they push the limits to find out just how versatile they truly are.

then maybe zod could simply say that, but ignoring questions about SD play is not a pretty look

Are you seriously upset that Zod hasn't answered your question? You know, he may have a life, and is just busy right now. Or? Maybe he is ignoring you. Only he knows for sure.

Two things that struck me.  DJ really seems more together.  I don't know if its an age or expereience thing, but he appears to be in a good place.

The other his his comment that Horn is as advertised  I'm guessing the rookie must have impressed.

My first thought was that the D looked good, so he is stepping up to be a part of it.

    Second is the Horn comment.

But the one I like the most is the one about Riddick. He can be a leader for  this unit. I believe that is the missing ingredient for this D. Ah hope, I love you.

Yea they got my blood boiling after years of seeing them spread non-sense. My own fault for trying to show others that live by them their issues/faults. I checked myself before blowing a gasket and now going avoid PFF topics......except for drive-by pooping....  If I get out of line, check me iamhub.

That's a lot of pressure on me. But, I would be happy to keep you in your place, if that is what you want.

They have taken analytics to a stupid level.

I heard Collingsworth himself say that sometimes the numbers don't always align with the stats, or the eye test. But, as a whole, for what they do. They fit a niche for football teams, and agents.

He joked that nerds didn't play. Or something like that.

I think it was "Inside the NFL" on HBO.

Are you actually asking the Huddle to be honest in their player evaluations? Got your bullet proof vest on? lol

I'm not holding the contract against them I'm sure Hurney did what he did with that and market value is what it is. But we didn't help matters by dragging him through the mud publicly and tanking any value he had. That was on us. I hope that and the public turmoil with Newton was a lesson learned moving forward.

The NFL is a business. Sometimes things just don't go the players way.

There is no evidence that we ruined Teddy's value. We were lucky anyone wanted to trade for him.

Now Cam? That one is a different matter.

  16. 4 minutes ago, SBBlue said:

Maybe.  I still think Teddy was always meant to just be a bridge, its even in his name.  They knew his limitations just like we did.

Did we overpay?  Sure.   Rhule had been coach for five minutes and Hurney still had at least some input.

If its Rhule's biggest blunder, to overpay Teddy in a rebuild year, I can live with that.

Go ahead and blame Rhule for thinking Teddy and Brady would make a good team. That may be fair.

But you have to blame Hurney for that contract. Teddy fizzling out doesn't move the chains. But Teddy fizzling out at 20mil a year? That one is hard to swallow

The Teddy fiasco overall says otherwise. Fitterer wasn't involved obviously but Rhule and Brady really need a win with Darnold.

Oh come on. Rhule shows up to coach the Panthers, he looks at the QB room and says. "Well this ain't good".

They took Teddy because he had a history with Brady. That scenario failed because of Teddy. You can hold that against Rhule if you want to. But Teddy is the one that sucked.

We gave Teddy a chance to be the man. He took that and dumped all over it.

  18. 26 minutes ago, frankw said:

But sadly it has been the same ol Panthers my friend. We haven't sniffed a divisional crown in half a decade now. Let's hope Sam is the answer.

Rhule has been here only 2 years. Fitts is in his first year. That is no where near, "The same ol Panthers".

Most of the old guards players are gone. The old coach, and his crones are gone. The ol owner is gone. The only things still remaining from the "Same ol Panthers" is the Stadium, and the jerseys.

We have entered a new era in Panther football. But it seems like some of our fans are stuck in the past. They are still using their fear of that past regime as fuel for their arguments.

In 2015 did we have an elite defense overall or did we have a very good linebackers group and an opportunistic secondary? We didn't have that much of a pass rush from the dline but we were still formidable. Our strength was in guys like Luke and TD.

I am sorry to be that guy. But, actually, we were 3rd in sacks that year, with 44.
