  1. david johnson has one year left on his deal before he’s a 31 year old free agent. he could be cut and save the team almost $7 million. also the texans FO looks more like some weird cult than a functioning football team and i just have this sneaking suspicion that mcnair and co would really appreciate a guy like mccaffrey, even if it makes less sense than taking an additional draft pick
  2. need to purge the fan base of the 30% who say they wouldn’t do two firsts and mccaffrey
  3. not a prediction as it’s difficult to say where he goes if he goes at all not knowing the full context here but if he were to be traded to carolina i think 2 firsts, a 2nd/3rd and mccaffrey gets it done. they’re probably taking a player or two back in any deal so it’s hard to say exactly what he goes for but i get the feeling houston would value mccaffrey at roughly the value of a first round pick. they have very dumb ownership, mccaffrey is a “star” and tbh his complexion is going to appeal to that franchise. so let’s say ~3 first round picks in value. i know watson is worth way more tha
  4. that’s not that big of a return relative to the value of harden (especially the pick swaps lol houston may very well never exercise those options) but beyond that i don’t think anyone is arguing that if watson only wanted to go to one team that the texans would just accept like a 5th round pick for him. they will get assets but those assets won’t compare to his value and unless they’re getting nothing but ridiculous lowball offers they will be hurting themselves if they keep him out of spite. 5 teams bidding against each other and 20 teams bidding against each other is a very big difference an
  5. james harden already provided the blueprint. watson can make the organization miserable while still getting paid. if he wants out he will get what he wants or things will get even worse for houston.
  6. this is at its core a labor dispute and i expect a shitty organization like houston to try to exert control. what watson is attempting to do could change things for players.
  7. lmao if “brass balls” tepper passes on watson in pursuit of zach wilson “by whatever means necessary”
  8. that’s the cost of trading into the top 3 oh wait i get it now. you’re still a believer in teddy two yards. guess what? the offensive line wasn’t teddy’s problem. he just sucks ass.
  9. teddy has negative value but houston is a very poorly run franchise and it’s difficult to predict what they might do. would it be all that surprising if they stupidly overvalued teddy similar to how our team overvalued him? i don’t think so. do i hear teddy plus 3 firsts? hell some folks are ready to trade 2 firsts and a second for the byu quarterback. really though i could see houston try to ride it out and dare him to hold out. something tells me that organization isn’t going to be very receptive to the demands of the young black quarterback.
  10. the no trade clause makes it interesting as you’re not necessarily bidding against the rest of the league and he can tank houston’s leverage by limiting his potential destinations. i don’t know and can only speculate but if i had to guess i think watson would waive his no trade clause for carolina given that it’s the closest franchise to his hometown and college (outside of atlanta who definitely can’t trade for him) and the franchise looks like it’s heading in the right direction. very very stupid team if they don’t check in on him at the least.
  11. 4 players with 1000 yards despite having to work around a pile of poo at the quarterback position. he is 31 years old and went from being a college team’s passing coordinator to earning multiple head coach interviews in the span of one year. let’s just say he’s bringing a little more to the table than you.
  12. haskins has better career numbers and he’s 4 years younger. with a 23 year old former first round pick as your backup the hope is that he can be a developmental project. with taylor heinicke as your backup you’re locked into eating up a roster spot with a JAG. you’re not winning poo with either so you might as well take the long view or alternatively sign neither of them.
  13. he’s still a douche and it’s great that he lost imo
  14. i think there’s a difference in opinion of what it means to be a “culture” guy as far as coaching goes. i think it’s easy to just be the “culture” guy who only wants guys without flaws. i don’t think that’s how rhule views himself so i don’t think it’s contradictory to tout your ability to build culture while checking up on players like haskins. i think it’s actually pretty consistent.
  15. if it doesn’t work you cut him no problem. we wouldn’t have the same investment in him as washington had. it’s no secret that i don’t think very highly of rivera but, even if you do, it’s pretty well accepted that washington has perhaps the most dysfunctional ownership situation in the league. bring him in, separate truth from fiction, see what he’s got and go from there. nothing to lose. and what player is alienated by haskins being brought in? if it’s anyone outside of the qb room then they’re probably mentally weak and if it’s someone inside the qb room who gives a poo because all of t
  16. iirc his biggest question mark coming out of college was maturity (at least as far as his coaches were concerned). rhule’s whole deal is building culture, extending back to when he took over a totally poisonous culture at baylor. i see absolutely nothing wrong with kicking the tires here.
  17. i think if the team is seriously considering trading up for a guy like wilson (as some here are hoping) then they should absolutely be exploring a trade for watson. cost to trade into the top 3 and guarantee wilson is what, 2 firsts and a second? if trading say 3 firsts for a legitimate top qb just entering his prime makes you the houston of the nfc then what does trading 2 firsts and a second for a guy who in all likelihood won’t approach watson’s proven level of play do for your team? give me the sure thing on the larger contract and slightly higher asset cost imo. quarterback is that import
  18. middle of the pack completion percentage while throwing to the worst set of pass catchers in the league. only 7 quarterbacks in the league had a longer completed pass through the air than cam and the longest was only 6 yards farther downfield. he developed some semblance of chemistry with his number 1 receiver julian edelman and helped him to his highest single game output of his 11 year career before edelman's season was ended due to injury. his top 3 receivers for the bulk of the year all set career highs in yardage and receptions this season. patriots had the most covid opt outs and cam him
  19. schefter corrected himself and now it's "the most narcotic ridden hallucinations you have ever read" can't have it both ways
