  1. We are just going to ignore the 4 GWD in Brady's first 6 playoff games including 2 SBs? He had 3 GWDs in the 2001 season too. Remember, this was about what a young inexperienced QB could do with little to no talent surrounding him on offense. Delhomme had 7 GWDs in his first season as a starter, and he had a GWD in the playoffs that year too that led the Panthers to the SB against Tom Brady. Bryce Young had a GWD opportunity in week 1 with a 10 -10 game going into the 4th quarter. Desmond Ridder out performed him. Young went 0-4 on 4Q drives. 2 of those drives were 3 and outs. How many of these will you accept? What's your cutoff for an NFL QB with the game on the line in 4Q? A team has 6 to 8 of these GWD opportunities per season that a QB has to be prepared to win. The Panthers went 1 for 7 on GWD opportunities in 2022. Anyone serious on getting a championship QB doesn't just let a QB whiff on these. There is always a line that QB can never cross when it comes to tanking in the 4Q. Otherwise, you're just apologizing and accepting mediocrity.
  2. We spent all the capital for those players on Young. Young is suppose to make a bad team good. Not the other way around. We had Darnold and Mayfield for that. Tom Brady made lesser talent than the Panthers have on offense look good in his first season as a starter. Brock Purdy would too. Brady only needs Thielen, Hurst and Sanders type players to put up points and win a championship. Easily go to the playoffs.
  3. Is it fair to measure them against 2nd year QBs who didn't get to start until the end of last season? Brock Purdy, Desmond Ridder and Sam Howell?
  4. Ridder led 2 drives that resulted in 4Q TDs. He racked up the elusive GWD. He is the better QB. Young will have to prove himself at some point. Young may be the worst QB in the NFC South. We will see when he matches up against Mayfield. The two #1 picks (Mayfield, Young) are the worst in the division. A 2nd and 3rd round QB are better. Who would have ever thought that?
  5. If PJ Walker played like Bryce Young in his first game, you'd all want him benched and never see the field again.
  6. Oh okay. We're not talking about winners. 2021 would be the correction for 1st round picks. If the box is limited to #1 overall picks, then I agree. Those #1 pick QBs are overrated and over paid. Waste of capital with little to no reward compared to the full selection of QBs who can win.
  7. The last time a starting QB won his first game as a starter was 2002? You may want to check that. I'll get you started on the correction. Brock Purdy 2022. He won his first 7 starts. Lost the NFC Championship game he was injured in. Won his opening season game in 2023. He was also a 7th round QB. Next, you'll tell me that no other 6th round or later QB has won out the gate in the NFL like a true champion. Should I let you go find the next rookie QB who won their first career start as a rookie, or will you? Let's not excuse the performance or the capital invested with false claims. Here is another one. Sam Howell. I believe he is 2-0 now. This is easy. Here is another one Bailey Zappe is also 2-0. Wow this is fun. Here is Malik Willis for another win as a starting QB to begin their career. 2022 should be your correction. We'll soon find out what drafted QBs win their first starts in 2023. It won't be Bryce Young.
  8. For now, you can rank Young on a list of debut performances. He'll be extremely low on the list, but you can have some honesty with that measure. He is definitely among the bottom of Panthers QBs in their debut. Kyle Allen, Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield had better debuts. Young performed as I expected.
  9. Delhomme, Newton and Allen were great young starting QB memories. Collins, Weinke and Clausen were the young QBs who came out cold in their first season as starters. Jeff Lewis was just horrible as a starting option. I wouldn't put Young with Delhomme, Newton and Allen, but he is definitely not Jeff Lewis bad. Maybe another Kerry Collins level QB. Nothing special, but eventually capable.
  10. Bryce Young is clearly not ready to start in the NFL
  11. This is a prevent defense. Let's at least look good in 4Q against a prevent.
  12. Is Adam Thielen ok? Panthers better play to win if they are going to serve up Thielen like that
  13. Can we at least get a TD drive against this prevent Atlanta defense?
  14. I would say a pass blocking LT may be a much bigger issue
  15. Ekwonu is watching the game in the 4Q. He isn't playing
  16. You think the Colts had a better gauge on HCs and QBs?
  17. Ridder v Young for the foreseeable future. Young is going to have to prove he can out perform Ridder in the 4th quarter with the game on the line.
  18. Being outshined by RIdder, Robinson, and Pitts in 4Q is frustrating
  19. Ridder leading his 2nd 4th quarter TD drive Need to have all the Panthers 1st round picks have flawless drives for the final 4 minutes of the game
