HeelsPanthersCanes replied to KingKucci's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I’m the biggest hater of women’s sports on this board, but agree with your statement. That was fun to watch. I was actually thinking during the game that it’s too bad there aren’t enough good women hockey players to create a legitimate pro league in the US. -
Kuechly on the state of the Panthers

This team, again, as it's constructed now, will be favored in ONE game next year. Home against Atlanta. We'd be underdogs in every game if Atlanta wasn't as poorly run as we are and letting Cousins walk. Morgan will have to have an amazing offseason and draft, Canales will have to come up with something more innovative and unpredictable than last year's call sheet, and Young will need to take a huge step forward for this team to win more than 5 games next year. This team is not good, they are not a playoff team, and guys who were here and contributing are going to go elsewhere to win if they have the chance. -
Ahhhhhhhh, I forgot about the suspensions. Thanks for the reminder.

What a crazy game. USA got some gas left in the tank? -
I think tonight says a lot about this team. Coming out of All Star Weekend, hosting a team that is very good, who they just beat on the road in Houston. Last year this team would come out and lay an absolute egg in this spot, hoping things have changed.

Kuechly on the state of the Panthers

This team as currently constructed with regards to roster and staff could easily finish with a top 5 pick next year. We currently have the 4th longest odds to win the Superbowl, tied with Tennessee, who was dreadful this year in every way. This past season was "fun" with all the ups and downs, but there was nothing about the season that convinced me Bryce Young, Dave Canales or Dan Morgan are on the right path for long-term organizational success. -

Would've been something if they didn't even make it to the medal round. -
Nice. I remember a huge bet I placed a while back on Baylor football when they were Air Raiding it out. Over was like 71.5 full game, score at halftime was like 45-30. Touching a little free play parlay with my Gunners and USA today.

Was coming back from work in NYC last night. Had live TV on plane, watched first 8 minutes of Tarheels, and then realized this team isn't worth watching without Caleb and while Hubert is the coach. Proceeded to take advantage of free vodka, watch Springsteen movie and forget the Tarheels exist until ACC Tournament. -
Was traveling for work the past 6 days. Haven't been on the books. On this currently.

You’re a fuging moron. Never once did I say it’s Caleb’s fault that Veesaar is soft as fug near the rim on both ends. Never once did I say it’s Caleb’s fault this team let a true PG (who’s thriving at Michigan) walk and replaced him with two guys who aren’t true PGs. Never once did I say it’s Calebs fault that our coaching staff is atrociously bad, and full of the least innovative, least adaptable minds in all of top flight programs. Never once did I say that it’s Calebs fault that despite maybe being the best athlete on the court, Jarin Stephenson has been an absolute portal bust. Never once did I say that it’s Caleb Williams fault Trimble got hurt. Never once did I say it’s Caleb’s fault this teams bench is an absolute joke. Never once did I say that Bogavac was supposed to be an upgrade over Cade Tyson, and it turns out Tyson is way better than this staff could deal with. How’s that for not blaming Caleb for everything. It is possible to really like a player (like I do with Caleb) and also be able to be honest about holes in his game / effort at times (like I do with Caleb). -

What’s the narrative you’re deducing from my posts? I’m genuinely curious. -

The player I’m singling out sets the tone for everyone else. Just because “everyone else is” doesn’t excuse Caleb. It actually makes it worse as he should be the one pulling everyone out of that. And thats my issue with him. Incredibly skilled, marginally aggressive on both ends. A lot of this is Hubert. If Wilson played for Calipari or Izzo he’d be averaging 30 and 12. He’s that good, unfortunately he’s also that unmotivated. -

Were his feet hurt too? Cause he got beat to the rim on horribly lazy defensive efforts multiple times in the second half. He was also dreadful in the first half before he got hurt. He’s a great player, I don’t dislike him, I actually am a big fan. But there is no denying he becomes complacent during long stretches in a lot of games. -

Superbowl equivalent would be beating Dook in the Final Four to end a legendary coach's career. Oh wait ... -

What a collective band of pussies this Tarheels staff and team is. Every single one of them. I've been saying all year Caleb is soft as hell, proved me right again tonight with his bullfighting style defense and lack of any interior presence on either side of the court. What a waste of tremendous talent. Caleb Wilson = Tall Joseph Forte. -
Kansas made me sweat it out, but got the job done. Cha-ching.

I just can't get into the Winter Olympics like I do for the Summer games. I'm excited for the Hockey now that NHL guys are playing again. Bummed I'll be traveling for work and at a convention all day every day for all of the USA's group round games in the afternoons. Gold Medal Game is Sunday 2/22 at 7:10am (my time). If that's US vs Canada, that's an awful long day of drinking. Thanks @DavidEng for posting the schedule! -
This game was the exact reason I was pissed when the Hornets didn't trade for Jaren Jackson Jr. Have been saying all year Moussa is going to get dominated by any center with any ounce of muscle and skill. That was put on full display tonight. He didn't score, and had a -13 (+/-) rating. Meanwhile, Duren was on his way to a 20 & 10 game and a +15 rating before Moussa got them both ejected to stop the embarrassment he was getting handed. Detroit -2.5 was easy money.
