If Baker looks bad Sunday then we should definitely let Darnold try the next week. There is no reason not to. Let's see how he does behind this offensive line with a different coach. At worst he is who we thought he was and Baker plays less snaps securing our pick to not be traded.

Eh he's still involved and was still brought there with Ron. If Ron felt like Hurney impeded his progress at all that would make no sense.

The GM argument doesn't hold weight because he literally chose the same GM to go with him lol. If it was the case, we are still talking about Ron is too clueless to realize how bad of a GM Hurney is because he still brought him which still makes him a mediocre coach. Ron seems like a good dude and a stable coach like others pointed out but he doesn't get you where you need to go. Cam did carry that offense and carry us to red zone success after success especially in 2015. Ron's defense was usually respectable but he kept playing guys like Fua and Nakamara and refused to put in the hot hand young guys. Combined with almost no adjustments during half time, etc, it just led to mediocrity. So yes Hurney did suck but Ron seemed to think he was pretty good, so it wouldn't matter, both are mediocre.

People are worried that more game tape is going to show how overrated he is. We should have taken the deal as fast as possible. No one hates Burns, he's a decent player, but he isn't a two 1st rounder player. He's not really a complete DE. He shouldn't even have made the pro-bowl last year over Reddick on the same team. He isn't worth a big contract and now that we passed on two first rounder picks he's going to have all the leverage. So we end up having to overpay for Burns and probably won't have a deal like that again. Fans have to stop being sentimental to all players. Almost everyone is replaceable and if you can get better you need to make the deals. Burns isn't Peppers. He isn't someone you build a defense around from what we have seen.

Yeah people seem to forget it took a while to get GoT off the ground too. Season 1 ended with a bang/chop but before the finale it was a lot of world building and setting up the chessboard. It didn't stop there we kept getting new characters from different areas in Westeros etc. But people are quick to lose their mind about RoP building up the story. People need to give some slack, they don't have access to all the source material and are trying to create new things while staying close to the lore as possible.

It is still just crazy how much power Tepper gave Rhule being just a college coach coming in. The contract, the full power on hidings and things. There are very few coaches that have been around for a long time that should have that power definitely not a newbie.

So back to being wildly inconsistent year to year? No thanks. I get the players respect Wilks, and that is good, but I start to worry when they are too friendly. That is when we get back to vets playing over the young guys that are clearly better, etc. We need a HC with a mind that wins games of today, not 20 years ago.

I like Wilks too, he seems like a good guy. The players like him too. That doesn't always win games. I get it, the home town story is cool and it seems like Panther fans are always wanting some Cinderella story but we have to stay strong and expect a coach that can coach in the NFL of today, not decades ago. Playing for field goals and playing not to lose is just not the way. If we want a rehash of Rivera and Fox's inconsistency then Wilks seems like the guy. If we want to build a winning franchise and culture and finally have back to back winning seasons.... I'm not sure he is the guy.
