  1. Wrong. I was born with bird legs and had them all through my 20's. My calves are huge now and have been since I entered my 30's (38 now). I gained them backpacking and now I just trained for the last year for a marathon without lifting any weights and lost no mass.
  2. I'll get this thread going again by letting everyone know I completed the full 26.2 mile Charlotte Marathon today. I clocked a time of 4hrs 39mins. The course is hilly as hell so I'm happy with my results. Also as a side note I only trained for a half but said to hell with it and ran the full anyway. Now where's my beer!!
  3. I ran 12 miles Saturday (26 miles for the week). It was my longest run ever and it was surprisingly easy. I wasn't even really sore today just really tired and unmotivated to do anything other than lay on the couch. Running a half marathon in 3 weeks and I'm actually looking forward to it and taking some time off afterwards.
  4. I ran 10 miles Saturday and I'm averaging 20 miles per week right now. Pounds lost = 0. Like Biscuit said I'm starving all the time and I'm having trouble sleeping at night due to hunger. I'm trying to just stay positive on the fact that my running is going well. I really only have about 10lbs to lose at this point anyway so it's not that big of a deal.
  5. I ran 3 miles today pain free. Hopefully that is the last of my hip injury. I tried not to look gay when I ran PSC.
  6. I'm offended that your offended that he is offended.
  7. I just assume the person is illiterate when they drop the weights at my gym. There is a sign every 10 ft saying "DON'T DROP THE WEIGHTS."
  8. Once you run a 5k you can run any distance you want. I went from my first 5k to a 10 miler only 6 weeks later. Not that I would recommend it. I just started running in Feb. and will run a half marathon in 10 weeks. I may try for the whole if I'm injury free. I've done every type of exercising you can imagine and nothing is a tough or rewarding as running.
  9. I ran on Monday in the heat and plan on running again today. As long as I can find shade to run in I'm fine. Right now I've been going to the greenways which is about 90% shaded. I've been stuck in an epic battle over the last couple of months of running with pain. I never know when I need to rest and when I just need to suck it up and run through it. It's so frustrating.
  10. Smothie King is awesome if you have one near you. If you want to make one at home try this. 1 1/4 cup pineapple orange juice 1 1/4 cup of frozen fruit. I get them in the frozen toppings section ice cream isle. 1/3 cup of yogurt Blend the hell out of it. As far as vegetables I just drink V8.
  11. I got your back. I'm doing the same this morning. Gotta sweat it out!
  12. I really hope I don't have something like that going on. I think mine is just one muscle and its a grade two. I did get to walk 4 miles today at a pretty good pace and only had a little bit of pain going on. I'm hoping to be back running by Sunday but I thought that last week also. I'm supposed to run a marathon on Nov. 15th and I'm freaking out due to the time I have lost training.
  13. I'm going on my 4th week without running due to a hip flexor strain. It has gotten me really depressed becasue I've tried everything to try and work it out but I nothing works. I feel your pain hip injury brother.
  14. Whey protien supplement is a good if you want to keep your calories down.
  15. I weighed this morning and I'm down to my high school weight. It only took me 20 years!
  16. I don't have a problem getting up it's just that my body is really stiff in the mornings and it takes a while to get hydrated. I've heard that your more likely to get injured in the mornings due to this.
  17. I went to the doctor today and my heart rate was 61. Before I started running it was about 98 and technically speaking I was in pretty good shape then.
  18. I did nothing but lift weights for about two years and just got sick of it. Been doing nothing but cardio and core since Feb. 1st and I'm in the best shape of my life. The best part is that I've lost no muscle mass in the process I've only shed fat.
  19. Pace has a lot to do with it. Really its just slowly building up distance training. Your heart and lungs just become more efficient. 4 months ago I couldn't even run a mile.
  20. I ran 10 miles yesterday. I saw God around mile 9.
