The athletes should be getting a percentage of the revenue they generate for the schools IMO. Always should have.

But this is going to gut college athletics as we knew them. There's probably gonna be low tier schools that just drop athletics altogether. A LOT of schools are probably gonna start purging their non-revenue sports. It's a business now and they're gonna have to run the athletics department as such.

Now that we're paying athletes I think it's time to do away with the sham of student athlete for many. They're employees now. No need for minimum SAT scored or GPAs unless it's a legitimate scholarship. I think many are going to learn a very harsh lesson in the reality of business.

This is cool. I mean I'm sure they have the technology to implant chips in to footballs and onto the fields to measure spatially where the ball is. But then that'd take the fun and anger out of reacting to the ref's subjective opinions lol.

Would be hilarious to watch if someone managed to hack the technology in the tracking software and ended with the ball showing up in Albuquerque.

I guess the question would be how much of an asset do you spend on another QB. If we have a top 5 pick and Young is still a question mark from being injured do you spend another top pick on another rookie or use that on another valuable asset? The more film we have a Young the better we can answer that question IMO.

Depends on the injury, but also depends on who's available. Sometimes there's just bad luck in the NFL, and if we have the opportunity to draft a QB who's a better fit for the scheme being run or the coaches, you have to be willing to move on. What's been spent on BY has been spent. Now he's just another player at this point.

I think at minimum, you should start looking rd 4 to 5 at guys who may not have all the up front talent of a top tier QB, but may have better tools to play in the scheme. Purdy is a perfect example of this. Right guy for the right scheme. Somewhere else he may still be a 3rd string or PS guy. But you have to be willing to open up your mind to the concept that the right tool (scheme QB)  may be better than brute force (top draft pick QB).

The worst would be he gets hurt early in the season and we have to do all of this again next year.

Not really. Maybe it might finally wake this team up to the fact we should constantly be trying to develop a QB2 into a possible QB1. I've never understood the mentality of this is our number 1 guy and if he gets hurt the season is over. There should always be legitimate QB competition. Getting better should always be the focus. What harm is there in bringing in another guy who might be a better fit for the system? If BY gets hurt, stinks up the field, or just gets beat flat out in the QB race, being better prepared than a geriatric (NFL standars) red rocket is not a bad thing.

Yeah "let it play out" is something I promised myself I would do from now on. Main reason I no longer trash Bryce. If he's the guy he will prove it. If he's successful that will translate to the team being successful. We will go as far as Bryce leads us.

Hopefully the team plays much better this year.

Either he’s our guy or he leads us to a high draft pick to try again. Don’t really care at this point as long as we can finally figure out how to win consistently.

  6. If Cousins leads them to an nfcs berth because of our terrible division, they may not have an opportunity to get another Penix if he’s the kind of QB they want. 1-2 years to get used to NFL speed and develop the way rookie QBs should doesn’t hurt his value or long term plan. I’m not a fan of his injury history, but who are we to judge. We’ve been a revolving door of terrible QB play since 2018.

    That said. fug the Falcons.

Lol catchable, it was 5 yards behind him.  Mingo momentum carried him out of bounds.  It was thrown late and behind, stop making excuses for Bryce

My first thought was at that angle he jumped up because he didn't want to blow both hamstrings trying to awkwardly catch a ball that far behind him.

  8. I think most of us realize that the NFL has moved to an offense first league. It's what the owners and Vegas want. Whether running or passing is your primary focus, you have to be able to exploit the heavily slanted favoritism towards high powered, high scoring offenses. The days of being able to score 17 and win consistently are long gone. NFL is going to favor the teams that drive the "entertainment" value of the league as well as the betting side.

Look like a legitimate NFL QB. I don't care about stats or even wins right now. Just show me something. Either show me that you can be the guy or show me that we need to move on.

Yep. Gotta show me he put in the work this off-season to deal with the lack of size on his frame and especially the footwork and pre-snap reads. Don't really wanna see a lot of T2G check downs again. Either we see some of what was supposed to be there to make him the number 1 pick, or we move on.

Can you imagine Rhule saying any of that lol

What we have here is a picture of the landscape of football against the landscape of the field painted with numbers that we've drawn up with a certain number of players who create the image that we see in our offensive landscape.

Brock Purdy #2 is just hilarious.

Literally no one else in that top 10 would trade their guy for Brock Purdy

He's a great fit for that system. He may not have all the talent of the others, but he also doesn't fold under pressure like many of them have.
