The only year I remember feeling good about the team but we sucked was 2006.

Every terrible year the team has looked terrible in the preseason too.

'18 and '19 preseasons we looked good, granted both those seasons were derailed largely due to Cam not being healthy but still.

  2. this draft sucks ass and I find it hard to find any excitement in it whatsoever. the upside of whatever dude we wind up taking will probably be a decent 6th man, which we could use sure, but we need legit talent when we pick high like this. Miller last year kinda helps make up for this year sucking but still a bummer that after such a terrible season we have no good consolation prize.

I am excited about the new coaching staff and our young talent already on the roster though, just need to stay healthy (much easier said than done for melo and mark unfortunately)

Not for most of the Huddle. Hell, they were still convinced we were playing some type of 4D chess not showing our cards when we looked like the NFL equivalent of a JV team during preseason. When I was saying things like "our OL literally can't block the man in front of them" and "Bryce does not have a starting caliber NFL arm" and "our WRs can't get any separation" I was mocked for not understanding that preseason doesn't matter and we'll look like a completely different team once our brain trust starts game planning. Okay, we'll see. Well, we saw.

    2 things can be true.

we sucked all around last year and it was obvious

but preseason still means absolutely nothing.

we looked like poo 2015 preseason and KB went down everyone thought the season was doomed.

  4. I think Williams will basically replace Waddell in that role. Tulsky may get the title if he wants it. Can’t see us letting him go elsewhere and if we don’t make him GM he can go anywhere that will offer him a GM title/job.

realistically though, Tulsky is a dorky data guy. Extremely important to this front office, more so than Waddell IMO, but he’s not a people guy, negotiator, etc. that’ll be Willy, whatever the titles wind up being. Would be very surprised if we went outside the org to replace Don.

honestly I’ll miss Don, I don’t think this alters our trajectory whatsoever but I came to like him a lot here, as skeptical as I was at first

Man, I hurt. This hurts. The Canes future doesnt look too good. The panthers arent going to be good as long as Bryce is here. Sad time to be a Carolina pro sports team fan.

the outcome this year sucks for sure but the Canes future is still extremely bright. great cap situation, great young players already locked up long term, and great prospect pool. we'll get over the hump eventually

Don't remind me. Sad we can't keep everyone together forever.

Nikishin will help us forget Skjei/Pesce lol. I think we keep Chatty long term and honestly I think we see Orlov stick around past next season on a cheaper deal. He fits in here so damn well now that he’s settled in

  7. KokomMiami is having a hell of a game. Also Chatty and Orlov for 3rd pair (really 2nd with Pesce out) is just insane, such a huge upgrade on recent years. TDA has been great the last few games after early struggles, so we really have no weak link on D. Meanwhile the Rags have had like 4 weak links on D. Sadly this will probably be the last year we’re this deep on the blue line with the impending FAs

  8. We really need a Marshawn Lynch caliber RB if we're going to try to do this. Hey maybe Brooks can be that guy, but I'm not expecting it. Dude carried their offense in all their successful years and they were never the same after he left/retired (although the D departures also had an impact of course). Not to mention Russ was a great runner in his prime. Bryce isn't really and won't ever be. Hopefully Canales is capable of adapting to the personnel he has rather than trying to force something that won't work with our roster.

The truth is the Rangers had won 3 games by 1 goal, two of which were in OT. It's an extremely close series and the luck has FINALLY swung back the Canes way before it was too late. One game at a time

It’s only close because of special teams. We’d have won this series by now if our PP/PK were even close to our regular season numbers. We are so much fuging better 5v5. They have goaltending and special teams, both of which can be volatile. 1 game at a time but we have ourselves a series now.
