It isn’t hard to project. Take Warren, Dan. This isn’t hard. The defensive picks on the line are talented deep into the third round this year. There are two elite tight end prospects.

    Take Warren.

I've been out to lunch on this draft cycle but I love the idea of an elite tight end prospect. They really can change an offense and have an extraordinary impact. I like Sanders and think he could still develop into a legit above average starter but it absolutely would not hurt to have 2 really good TEs

Apparently Hunter Renfro visited the Panthers on Wed.  Might be old news but he is pretty good

would be an interesting cheap depth signing but he didn't play last year and although there were some claims he was "retired" I think it was due to lack of legit interest from around the league

The demented side of me wonders what Tepper does if we only win 5 games next year.  That said I think we hit 7/8 rather easily

Honestly if we only win 5 games I think he'd get rid of Canales and/or Morgan, showing yet again the fuging moron has no idea how to run an NFL team

The discussion is about how the fans perceive our moves versus what most talking heads think. I've lost count how many times the Panthers fanbase has thought we had a solid to great offseason only for the team to once again faceplant. That was the context I was referring to.

ok sure but every single fan base has their share of over-optimists and doomers, Panthers fans are not unique in that regard

Actually being worse seems highly unlikely.

Only improving marginally however is a very real possibility with this franchise. If you know the Panthers in and out then you know this. How many offseasons have we "won" in the past? Can't blame anyone for wanting to see results first. That's just the reputation that has been created under this ownership.

We have not historically been a team that many considered to have "won" any offseasons. Most of the years we were really good were pretty unexpected and the years we sucked were fully expected. Pre-Tepper we were a much better team than we got credit for -- media/fans would lump us in with the Bills, Browns, Lions, etc. of that era despite having 2 SB appearances and other playoff success (just not sustained). Since Tepper took over we are obviously the worst team in all of the 4 major sports and it's no secret either. We've been getting clowned on pretty much every year since Tepper fired Ron, so not sure what you're referring to in terms of "won" offseasons.

I never thought steve the "man" was a person to look up to but Steve the "player" to me one of the best WR to ever play the game

yeah on the field dude was an absolute monster and is IMO a top 5 all time WR. What he was able to accomplish in his career with the QBs he had and literally never playing in a pass-first offense was unbelievable. Also set the tone for winning and actually giving a poo about winning -- something I cannot say at all about our passive fuging players the last half decade.

Luke was actually very similar in that regard (on the field). The difference was Luke could obviously just immediately switch personalities into "normal person" mode and Steve can't. Based on everything I've seen he's a douche off the field but still one of my top 3-5 favorite players of all time. Nothing he does will change that.

The only player's contract I have a problem with is Horn. Time will tell with Moehrig. All others are justified or deserving IMO

In a vacuum each of the guard contacts is fine and don't get me wrong I love investing in OL and DL, but I'm not really a fan of paying 2 guards big $. Pay your tackle(s), go younger/cheaper on the interior. But otherwise generally agree

  8. Well, the whole Necas and Rantanen fiasco was a massive massive blunder by Tulsky. That said, it's one that this team can easily survive and forget about soon enough. But hopefully it's a wakeup call for the rookie GM and he actually learns a lot from it. Hopefully Stankoven proves to be decent but man just such an underwhelming return for giving away Necas. Rantanen is a bitch but whatever I don't blame him, he didn't owe us anything or ask to be traded here. Our fault for trading for a pending UFA without having contract discussions with him before the trade.

  9. He was a really solid long term Panther who was always a team-first guy. Sad to see him go but this is absolutely for the best. He never quite lived up to our expectations (which may have been unreasonable considering how spoiled we had been at LBer before him), but he was ultimately one of Gettleman's few good draft picks and did contribute to our last 2 playoff runs.
