It was reported (whether people believe draft reports or not) that some GMs had Young completely off their draft boards due to his size. I mean it did seem more than not had him at number 1, but who knows the truth. Like you stated no chance all 32 had him at the top or there would have been a bidding war.

There was a bidding war. We know for a fact the Panthers, Texans, and Raiders we’re all trying to get to 1 to draft Young.

Reality is there is virtually no chance all 32 teams in the NFL had Young the #1 QB.   Those are very rare seasons in reality where everyone would agree.  And that’s generally a lab built QB like a Luck, Lawrence, etc and I still would be wary of claiming a 32 team consensus.

Bryce is built like a middle schooler,  there is no doubt some didn’t have  going to have him as the # 1 on physical tools alone vs the other guys.  We greatly debated it internally by reports.

I’m not saying you don’t have points. But you’re ignoring loads of leaks/storylines we got from the media this entire draft cycle to come away with any other thought. Nearly every insider said Bryce was close to unanimously seen as QB1 in this draft.

All this talk about our owner “forcing” this pick with zero evidence to back it up. Really, there actually were dozens of stories about the Texans not wanting to draft Stroud but the owner more or less forced a QB. Worked out decently well for them. No one would be complaining if that had happened to us.

I just can’t get mad at the Bryce pick because I’m confident nearly every team in need of a QB (Houston, Indianapolis, Vegas) all would have taken Bryce first. poo is so unpredictable

If I owned the team I would meddle in everything EXCEPT actual football operations. I don't know how a man that isn't from football can buy something and then suggest who the team takes in an NFL draft, that's insanity to me. Then again I'm not a billionaire.

To answer your question, Adam Schefter said before the draft that the football operations wanted CJ Stroud, and the owner wanted Young

He absolutely never said this. I hate Tepper but y’all are just making stuff up.

Never will blame Young. Don't hate the kid. I mean why would I? But as you said he just isn't an NFL talent. But unfortunately we are stuck with him for at least 4 years, unless we can get someone to trade for him. So we have to hope this year is just rookie crap. Because number 9 is gonna be lining up at center whether we want him to or not.

But yeah this is all on the FO and effing dumbass Tepper.

Without improvement there’s nothing from stopping us from moving on in as a little as 2 years like the Jets did with Wilson

I don’t exactly know how this data is tracked/followed, but I do think this kind of confirms some of the observations made throughout the fanbase. Bryce has shown plenty of accuracy in the short to intermediate range, spreads the ball around and usually puts it in a good spot. As a team, our biggest issue is that we never consistently have players open. I still want to see him push the ball accurately deep at some point,  but Jesus man get our guy some help.

  6. I know what you mean. I graduated college in 2018 and my dream was always to own PSLs. So a few years into my professional career I was able to buy two. Of course every season has been worse than the one previous.

Obviously if we are ever good again the price will be well worth it. We’re just so far from that currently. I have zero desire to go to these games right now

Hell, I wish we would've done that. Our philosophy with Cam was that Cam was the offense so now we can spend all our resources on D. These guys were gonna try to replicate that idiotic approach and what we're seeing is the results of trying that with a guy who isn't a generational talent at QB.

You pretty much nailed it. Cam was a historic rookie QB and clearly had talent to elevate an entire unit from day 1. Bryce, while a great prospect, was never going to be that guy. A massive failure by our entire FO thinking he could be someone you drop in on day 1 and elevate an otherwise horrific supporting cast into league average territory. None of this means he’s a bust or can’t be a franchise QB. But we have a poo ton of work to do to improve his situation so he can hit his ceiling here and I don’t trust us to help him get there

I said it a few weeks ago that I fully believe he'll end up as somewhere around the 20th best QB in the league.

Which isn't horrible, but that's also not worth what we traded to get him.

That's not a franchise QB, that's the type of QB who bounces around from team to team to be their QB placeholder while a rookie is on the bench or while still looking for your future franchise QB.

The Teddy Two Gloves, Baker Mayfields, Jacoby Brissetts, etc, of the world.

I’m not going to lie right now I can’t envision anything much better than like this version of Jared Goff. Like that is the ceiling I could still kind of see. The physical tools just aren’t there.
