Great work. Moved up for a high character guy without sacrificing any capital, just pick swaps. Doing very nice work so far.

Please no big trade up. A good player will be available at 57. Let the board fall to you

I don't like giving up future picks on players that you may need that future pick to replace. This team is not in any condition to afford giving up drafts picks in its current state. When they build a team that can have back to back playoff appearances then we can talk.
They’ll never learn. Ever.

I think there's a lot of truth in what you said.
And we have no clue if Penix will work or not yet. Even if he’s below average they could be in an awful spot this time next year. I would not want to be them right now. They’re making a serious serious gamble.

JPJ and Walker could be a nice combo, but I feel like you can just run on them? They both are weak against the run IMO.
They’re operating like an HC and GM duo that knows it’s playoffs or out of a job next year. And they don’t give a fug if they fug over their successors in the process

ATL seems to be happy
They had the worst night of anyone. Giving up a 26 first reeks of desperation. They basically have no picks on the first two days until 2027. Horrific night

Panthers twitter goat Billy Marshall had him #4 on his big board. He’s been doing this for a long time and I value what he has to say.

Also it’s usually promising when it sounds like other teams were trying to get the player you drafted. We know he wasn’t falling past Dallas at 12, and the Rams were rumored to be trying to move up for him. This doesn’t feel like last year when for some reason we were way higher on Legette than everyone else.

Yep. Back to back 1,300 yard seasons is nothing to scoff at. He's produced and he's got the measurables, rather than the XL method of he's got the measurables but hasn't produced as much.
In addition to filling a GLARING need, there’s such a strong case he was simply the best and cleanest prospect on the board. I’m very pleased with how they approached last night.

He would have been the 6th best wr last year, maybe 5th and we just took him at 8 overall. We are in a bizarro world
Even if true, who was a cleaner prospect in this draft where we were picking? Back to back 1300 yard seasons playing for a pretty volatile Arizona program. Every prospect on the board at 8 had warts.

Good job! Maybe next year

This can't happen. We can't keep burning future assets like this. We aren't in that position.
I agree entirely

Josh Norris also dropping some cryptic stuff on twitter linking us to TMac. He’s from NC and usually has decent Panthers sourcing.

Tett is now the favorite to be chosen #8

Mason Graham, please

I can see some arguments but Wharton’s contract is what sticks out to me on the DL with Brown and Robinson in tact. Especially with bringing Brown II as NT. Unless Evero can pull off a 6 man rotation (counting Clowney going hands in dirt on sub packages)
That Wharton contract is the move that could impact us in the future, hamstrung further by adding an IDL R1 contract, but it doesn’t seem to be stopping us. We must be comfortable with the potential dead cap that would come from this type of overinvestment to assure something works out in the front 7.
We’re going to be terrible next season. Draft the player that will be helping us the most 2-3 years from now, not next season. Wharton shouldn’t be preventing us from drafting anyone.

I expect Graham to be gone but teams might get caught up on measurables and convince themselves to draft someone else. Unfortunately, we're the poster child for that. Ironically, the one time we ignored measurables we made one of the most aggressive trade ups in recent memory.
There’s honestly no consistency man. When we paired Dan with Dave I did think they at least had a vision for how they wanted to build the team. But they’ve done so many things since then that contradict building the team in the way we were told they were going to.

Yeah, of Graham is there fug drafting someone else or taking some ripoff trade offer. Just draft the stud. Don't overthink it or try to get cute.
It feels far too much like last year. Taking the “traits” guy with “potential” instead of the sure fire good player that played a pivotal role in winning two national championships. Sure thing, let’s bring in this guy that Texas A&M was begging to leave 12 months ago because POTENTIAL or whatever man.
Watch Mason Graham play against Ohio State. That should end whatever debate we’re having here. Move down for an extra third to get a way worse player. Sure great call considering how great we always do on day two.

have we managed not only be the worst NFL team under Tepper or do we still own the prestigious title of worst in all of professional sports?
It helps the Panthers in these rankings that our city also has a basketball team that plays down the road

I actually think last year's class has more potential than our last several. Granted, that factors in Jalen Coker who was a UDFA, but still. If XL can stop trying to catch rodents long enough to learn how to catch footballs there is potential in last year's class. I think Sanders will be a solid TE and Wallace has flashed at ILB. Smith-Wade has potential as well.
I just don't like what I'm hearing about the players we seem to be enamored with relative to where we would be picking them. Donovan Ezeiruaku is a player I like, but not in the top-10 or even top half of the 1st round. That's the kind of player you take after trading down into the 20s. Water Nolen is a great player, but has significant character red flags. Mykel Williams is the definition of traits over performance.
I fear we're about to make a big mistake in the 1st round tomorrow night.
Preach. Where’s the consistency? On Day 1 we were told we were going to bring in “DAWGS.” Players to change the culture. Now we’re hearing a day before the draft we’re in love with a player that has a long list of character concerns and issues? Where is the consistency? Are we just saying stuff? Are we just making stuff up as we go? I swear man, have a plan and stick with it.
Taking Walter Nolen over Mason Graham would completely contradict every thing they’ve told us about how this team will be built. I don’t care about “potential” or RAS scores. Give me the fuging bully with a ring on his finger that got even meaner when playing his biggest rival.

What would you have rather done with the pick? Who was the better and cleaner prospect on the board?
