He might be willing to open up the playbook a little more, but based on what I’ve seen they don’t have the players to execute even the boilerplate poo that reich was calling. if the lineman can’t hold blocks or the receiver can’t run (very simple) routes it doesn’t matter who’s calling the plays. I fear a lot of people are about to be very disappointed. The panthers were built last year to just go ground and pound, and when Wilks took over they were able to lean into that hard. Doing that now would require installing an entirely new offense in the next two weeks which….

Money isn’t real in the nfl. The cap goes up every year and you can always restructure as long as you have an owner who’s liquid enough which tepper obviously is. unfortunately right now the number one goal for the panthers is developing Bryce young and not wasting his most important years. That’s how this has to be approached. You spend the next 1.5 seasons putting him in the best possible position to succeed, then hopefully add that difference maker in 2025. right now the panthers have one capable wide receiver. You’ve got to add another and if he’s available (for a reasonable price of course) you have to make the move.

Assume burns is gone after this season if we don’t trade him. walks we get a third. we trade him for Adams we get 3 years (conservative) of good production for a qbs most important developmental years. we trade burns for a pick, we get to trust fitterer or Nicole tepper or whomever of finding a young rookie who MIGHT be what Adams is. I dunno, it makes sense to me. i think being worried about age with certain players is overblown. If the panthers had pulled the trigger on joe thomas for a first in 2015 they probably would have won the Super Bowl and no one would care he retired in 2017.

I don’t necessarily disagree but it should be said he’s on pace for like his second best season ever or something depending on which stats you value.

Thomas Brown is a very hot head coaching name. If you’ve never listened to an interview with him, you should take a minute. Certainly more energizing and more inspiring than Frank “Nearer my god to Thee” Reich.

I really think we’re putting too much stock into “the first two drives” narrative. one it’s before the defense makes an adjustments and two I think the dolphins were just in base for the first quarter. Just like in college football they probably thought they didn’t need to do anything complicated to beat the panthers and they didn’t need to put stuff on tape. Happens to UGA all the time. I think whatever Bryce’s progress is, is due to him realizing thielen is the only one out there worth a poo and he should find him every play. They even joked about that on the halftime show on Sunday. Someone was impersonating thielen in the huddle like “yeah i know what the play is, but I’m going to be open right there. You know.” Everyone laughed in a way that made me think people with connections know something.

My biggest concern with the deep throws isn’t the timing which is obviously an issue. Bryce will never be like cam where he would see the deep guy and just chuck it. He’s going to need reps and good receivers and timing like brees did in his prime. my biggest concern is how often he throws the ball out of bounds on sideline throws. the safety is almost certainly not back there because we haven’t hit a deep pass all season. Throw it to the inside shoulder and let someone make a play.

Bryce was hurt that game. CJ stroud had the best game in college football last year, against UGA in the semis. Bryce probably had the second best game of the season, in Knoxville. And you want to talk about getting pressured? Bryce was murdered in that game and still should have won.

I was gonna make a thread about this but chinn is the prime example of organizational rot occurring under tepper, ruhle, and now reich. you had a player that looked like a perennial pro bowler his rookie year and was second in ROTY voting. the team then changed his position, put him where he wasn’t comfortable, and have maybe ruined him. Bad coaching early on is difficult to overcome. They’ve coached his instincts right out of him. unbelievable that the team didn’t watch his rookie tape and build their defense around him doing that.
