  1. Nope looks like he flipped Martinook and fast at least.
  2. Did Rod already blended the lines or are we just getting bad changes?
  3. @Anybodyhome looking forward to your in person analysis after the game.
  4. Looks like a pretty clean hitter though or nobody wants to fight him. No videos on hockey fights. Scratch that YouTube has one from two weeks ago.
  5. Though I do feel like we could have gotten Sami back off waivers and used fleury for Laine. Oh well. Hindsight.
  6. https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/canes-acquire-jani-hakanpaa-from-anaheim-ducks/c-323568702 "RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired defenseman Jani Hakanpaa and a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft in exchange for defenseman Haydn Fleury. "Jani is a big, physical defenseman," said Waddell. "As a right-shot, he will be an ideal partner for an offensive-minded, left-handed blueliner." Hakanpaa, 29, has tallied one assist in 42 NHL games with the Ducks this season, ranking third among all NHL skaters in hits (168). The 6'5", 218-pound defenseman has registered two points (1g, 1a) in 47 career NHL games, all with Anaheim. Hakanpaa has posted 33 points (7g, 26a) in 179 career AHL games with Peoria, Chicago and San Diego. He has also recorded 81 points (25g, 56a) in 298 career Liiga (Finland) games with Blues and Karpat. Hakanpaa was teammates with Hurricanes forward Sebastian Aho on Karpat during the 2015-16 season. The Kirkkonummi, Finland, native represented his home country at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship and the 2019 IIHF World Championship, winning gold in 2019. Hakanpaa was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round, 104th overall, of the 2010 NHL Draft. Fleury, 24, has scored one goal in 35 games with Carolina this season. The 6'3", 208-pound defenseman has registered 24 points (5g, 19a) in 167 career NHL regular-season games with the Hurricanes and has added two goals in 17 NHL playoff games. The Carlyle, Sask., native was selected by Carolina in the first round, seventh overall, of the 2014 NHL Draft." Are we the US team of Finland now?
  7. Lot of mixed opinions on twitter the pick is a sixth round. So Waddell gave up a bit in future return. A stay at home heavy hitting D is gonna be good for our third line. I’d rather pair him with bean than Gardiner though. Gardiner is also more of a stay at home guy. We could see Rod blow up the lines though if Gardiner and Joni are in. We are really banking/hedging our bets on TT coming back though. Was kinda hoping we’d send fleury and a pick to CBJ for Laine just to be sure. And just a pick for someone like Joni.
  8. Hakanpaa is third in the league in hits. Looks like we are trying to get more physical.
  9. He was the move target. We couldn’t protect him and everyone thinks Seattle is going to take him because he’s a Francis project. I don’t necessarily agree with the move but we hedged bets and tried to get something out of it. I think it was a 4th we got out of it too.
  10. https://www.nhl.com/player/jani-hakanpaa-8475825 Who we got.
  11. Unless there is something coming out yet to be announced looks like we stood pat.
  12. At this point just go after Laine but i don't think we have the cap space unless we LTIR TT.
  13. 1. Ditto but I’d rather not split Brady and Brett after that horrible defensive showing Saturday. 2. Head scratchers for sure. We aren’t trying to move Reimer if we are playing him tonight so it looks like 3 goalies is just gonna be the thing. Hate to say it but after they get Ned RFA I don’t know if he goes back out on the ice for now.
  14. 1.5 hours left. Really wonder if we are going to move at all.
  15. "Jordan Staal will play in his 1,000th career NHL game when the Carolina Hurricanes host Marc Staal and the Detroit Red Wings. The Match-Up Detroit Red Wings (14-23-6, 34 points) vs. Carolina Hurricanes (27-9-4, 58 points) Monday, April 12, 7 p.m. Watch: Bally Sports South, FOX Sports GO Listen: 99.9 FM The Fan, Hurricanes.com/Listen, Hurricanes app 1,000 for Staal It's a momentous night for Jordan Staal, who will play in his 1,000th career NHL game. Staal is just the fifth player to hit the millenium mark with the team and the first since Ray Whitney did it on Oct. 21, 2009. Staal will join Phil Kessel to become the second player from the 2006 NHL Draft class to reach 1,000 games played. "That list of 1,000 games with the players on it, you're in good company. I'm very proud of that," Staal said. "It is just games played, but it obviously shows you're able to stick in the league. It's not easy to be at that level for a long time, so I'm very proud of that. It's a cool achievement." Even though Staal played 431 of his 1,000 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he has evolved into exactly what it means to be a Carolina Hurricane. "The way we want to portray ourselves is based on the captain. He's everything we want to be," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. "We want to do it right, we want to be hard-working, we want to be respectful, we want to show up every day and do our job. That's how he is. Why wouldn't you want to be like that?" The Canes will honor his achievement with a pregame ceremony, which will be broadcast live. Fans attending the game are asked to be in their seats by 6:30 p.m. so they don't miss any of the festivities." https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/gameday-preview-detroit-red-wings-carolina-hurricanes/c-323552742 https://www.nhl.com/hurricanes/news/projected-lineup-detroit-red-wings-carolina-hurricanes/c-323560538 "Here is the projected lineup for the Hurricanes. Forwards Svechnikov-Aho-Fast Niederreiter-Trocheck-Necas Martinook-Staal-Foegele Paquette-Lorentz-Geekie Defensemen Slavin-Hamilton Skjei-Pesce Gardiner-Fleury Goalies Reimer Mrazek Scratch: Nedeljkovic Injury: McGinn (upper body), Teravainen (concussion symptoms; injured reserve) Taxi squad: Bean, McCormick, Ryan, Shore" Shoulda guessed it'd be Reimer.
