I'd be willing to wager most if not all of us have, at some point, found ourselves in a situation where we just stopped giving a sh-t. This is especially true when you realize the people leading your particular group or organization are incompetent.

I've never bought into the idea that teams intentionally tank or that the NFL is rigged. People lose their jobs, and sometimes their careers, during losing seasons. I have a hard time believing that anybody in the NFL is noble enough to risk that sort of thing "for the good of the team". Sometimes, teams, coaches and players are just legitimately terrible.

I think the jury is still out on whether getting those two counts as "winning".

The old "consistently good" vs "occasionally great" debate... I tend to prefer the former but it's a case-by-case thing.

Mentioned to Lady Cowboy Fan earlier that I thought McCarthy going for it on 4th and 1 was a sign that he knows he's a dead man walking. It was a desperate attempt to make something happen in a situation where it wasn't the right call because he wanted to create a memorable moment he could point to in his defense.

I remember a really weird pregame moment with him back in I think 2005 or so... Coming back from a commercial, before the guys were even on camera, Curt Menefee did a voice over where he talked about an "inside scoop" from Bradshaw. He said Jake Delhomme was not only gonna be benched, but likely cut. It finished with "Jake Delhomme has started his last game for the Carolina Panthers". And then not another word about it. The way they handled it - giving it only a passing mention then ignoring it - I think Fox thought it was bullsh-t. It felt like they didn't want to broadcast it but Bradshaw pushed until they did. And obviously, it was bullsh-t. Bradshaw has since left the inside scoopage to Jay Glazer...as he should.
