  1. I'm not even mad about this move on its own. As others have said, he was probably never gonna get the reps he needed to develop here anyways. The compensation was week. But, I can understand that. It's the overall pattern of behavior since Dundon has bought the team. Sure, we have finally spent to the cap on paper. But, as we have seen with countless other sports franchises, cap money vs real money can be entirely different. Every other move that the organisation has made since he took over has been all about the bottom line. Raising ticket prices, raising parking rates, changing jerseys again, changing affiliates, limiting broadcast options; doesn't matter if it makes the fan experience worse as long as it lines his already fat pockets. As soon as word came out he was lowballing RBA and the rest of the athletic staff, I knew he could give 2 shits what happens on the ice.

  3. Trading young talented players for cheap draft picks rather than giving them veteran contracts. 1sts cost more to sign... It's a tear down. Mr. Slumlord might throw a coat of cheap paint on when he's done, but he's taking this house down to the bones. "We could probably get something for those granite countertops. Rip em out and throw some formica in." I sincerely hope Centennial Authority didn't leave any copper pipes or wiring lying around the maintenance rooms.
  4. I'm still fuging livid about this! Dundon will not see a dime of my money again. And, neither will any of the sponsors.
  5. As long as they leave the Martyman alone, I'm cool with it. Losing Nino would hurt too, but I just think Martinook is more important to the team than people give him credit for.
  6. I honestly think a deal gets done. Dumdum already caved to Chancellor Brind'Amour once this offseason. And, I hope he's not dumb enough to let a talent like Ned walk out that door. Ned is not gonna get $10million per like Vas or Price. I don't know what my ceiling would be as a GM, but if I was Ned, I'm not taking less than 5.
  7. The way I see it, we won the trophy. RBA just refused to accept it...
  8. With Dundon, it's always about being a cheap ass... Sent Kaiton packing to save a nickel. Lowballed Forslund straight to NBC. Sent the Checkers packing to make a few bucks. Picking fights with Centennial Authority bc he doesn't want to pay his rent. Got into a public pissing match with a beloved head coach and former player bc he didn't want to pay the assistant coaches and trainers. Make no mistake, it's definitely about the $$$, first and foremost, when it comes to Mr. Slumlord. Don't be surprised when Tripp's contract comes up and they replace him with some freshman intern from Wake Tech. Hell, I'd bet money that Stormy is just a handful of stray cats stuffed into the costume at this point.
  9. We are a perennial playoff team. I agree that we haven't seen what Ned can do in a full season yet. But, if you don't want to pay market rate, don't let a guy hit free agency.
  10. I count 2 goalies on that list that had better years than Ned last season. He's hitting the market at the right time. Can't hate on that. But, make no mistake, someone will pay him what he is worth if we don't. If Dundon penny pinches a Vezina level netminder out of town, I might have to tap out on this team for a bit. This new money MFer would send Gordie Howe packing if it saved him a nickel.
  11. I don't understand this thinking at all. We finally find a franchise goalie. And we found him while we have a relatively stable front office and a young talented roster. Why would we possibly entertain letting him get away is beyond me. Mrazek is not and never will be a #1 goalie. We've been riding the mediocre goalie go round for damn near a decade now. I, for one, am ready to get the hell off that damn ride. Is Ned the next Vaselessski? Probably not. But, he was good enough as a rookie to drag us to a President's Trophy. You don't let that type of goalie walk out the door for nothing. Especially when your organization has invested as much time developing them as we have with Ned.
  12. I understand the thinking. I just don't agree with it. This team is too soft as it is. Hurricanes without Marty = Cold runny cream of wheat. Hurricanes with The Candyman = Thick ass grits!
  13. I would be pissed if we let the Martyman go. His vocal leadership is a huge part of this team and their success!
  14. But, what about the girth of his penis?
  15. I never had any doubts...
  16. I'm leaving Gardiner, Nino and Tro exposed if it's up to me; hoping that they choose Jake the Gardiner Snake. Sorry man, I like my Jake's with 2 c's and an A on their chest. And Brett, Brady and Paa all play to the important Sara Civian sorority girl demographic originally courted by shirtless Dougie. One of these guys is gonna have to bite the bullet and lose the shirt postgame if Hamilton walks. Nino or Tro would both hurt to lose. However, both have recent injury histories that might make them unattractive targets. I also believe that both are at or near their ceilings talent wise which makes them less attractive as well. Aho, Turbo and El Capitan are too important. And, Fast still has a lot of untapped potential both on the ice and for memes. He might even be a boat!
