  2. The organization has yet to recover from this debacle.
  3. Dave Canales was on Pro Football Talk with Mike Florio earlier today. He was asked what are the teams top 3 needs. His answer: D-line, safety, and offensive weapons (WR, TE, RB)
  4. ound 1, Pick 8: WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona Adding a true dominant X receiver like McMillan would help the Panthers unlock the full potential of 2024 first-round pick Xavier Legette. Despite frequently facing rolled coverage, McMillan still put up elite production in 2024, hauling in 86 catches for 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns. He thrived in contested situations, securing 18 of 32 such targets—often against multiple defenders—while also forcing an impressive 29 missed tackles. Round 2, Pick 58: S Malaki Starks, Georgia Starks' production dipped in 2024, but his coverage performance in 2023 showcased his impact. That season, he allowed just 18 completions on 37 targets while recording three interceptions and seven pass breakups. Round 3, Pick 74: DI Aeneas Peebles, Virginia Tech Peebles pairs his agility and quickness with excellent hand usage, making him a highly effective interior pass rusher. He led all defensive interior players in college football with a 27.3% win rate on true pass sets. Round 4, Pick 109: T Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, Florida Crenshaw-Dickson transferred to Florida from San Diego State for the 2024 season and delivered the best performance of his career, allowing just one sack and no quarterback hits. Round 4, Pick 112: DI Jordan Phillips, Maryland Phillips is a force against the run, recording 20 stops and seven tackles for loss or no gain in 2024. Round 5, Pick 140: LB Kobe King, Penn State King's 89.2 run-defense grade in 2024 ranked fifth among all linebackers in this year's draft class. Round 5, Pick 146: LB Billy Bowman Jr., Oklahoma Bowman has a natural instinct for making plays in coverage, tallying 11 interceptions and 10 forced incompletions over the past three seasons at Oklahoma. Round 5, Pick 163: WR Antwane Wells Jr., Mississippi Wells was a big-play machine in 2024, averaging 19.4 yards per reception. He converted 20 of his 29 catches into first downs, including six touchdowns. Round 7, Pick 228: CB Mac McWilliams, UCF McWilliams transferred to UCF from UAB last year and allowed just 23 receptions for 137 yards on 41 throws into his coverage.
  5. President of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan spoke with reporters from the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine on Tuesday. He was asked if the outcome of Super Bowl LIX, in which the Philadelphia Eagles dominated the Kansas City Chiefs through their overwhelming defensive line, served as a reminder for the importance of having a strong front. “Yeah, I don’t think we needed the Eagles game to understand that,” Morgan said with smile. “I think, both sides of the ball, you have to win the line of scrimmage. You have to be bigger, you have to be tougher, you have to be more physical—and that’s what we’re looking to do around here. “We’re looking to build that defensive line like we built the offensive line last season. Give the fans a good product on the field, give us a good product on the field. And we’re excited. We’re excited about the guys in free agency, we’re excited about the guys in the draft, and we think we can fill some of those holes.”
  6. According to Joe Person's report and Dan Morgan's comments; the team will attempt to bring back the following players: Johnny Hekker, Austin Corbett, Cade Mays, Sam Franklin, David Moore while Tommy Tremble will be allowed to test free agency.

  10. - Morgan also offered updates on some of the others among the 21 unrestricted free agents they entered the offseason with (after already extending Andy Dalton and JJ Jansen). - He said the intention was to bring back both center Austin Corbett and backup Cade Mays, keeping the offensive line group intact. And while there's been speculation about Taylor Moton's future because of his cap number, Morgan said the intention was to keep him under his current deal as well, knowing they can revisit it in the future. - He also said that kicker Eddy Piñeiro was going to be allowed to test the market and that they were looking for other kickers after signing Matthew Wright recently. "We are going to let Eddy test the market; his agents can be here; they can kind of see what his value is," Morgan said. "Definitely not going to close the door on that, but at the same time, we will be actively looking." - He said the team wanted to bring back punter Johnny Hekker and were in discussions on that front, that would lend some stability on special teams for a new kicker, since Hekker has experience working as a holder with Jansen. - He also mentioned tight end Tommy Tremble as a player they wanted to bring back.
  11. Dan acquired Mike Jackson for peanuts last offseason, I think he's confident in himself that he can find another low-cost CB this offseason.

  13. Ø Person notes the team would like to re-sign LB Sam Franklin, TE Tommy Tremble, and WR David Moore on short-term deals. Ø Meanwhile, CB Mike Jackson, S Xavier Woods, P Johnny Hekker, and OL Brady Christensen will likely hit free agency. Ø The team has already re-signed QB Andy Dalton and LS J.J. Jansen, however, they are letting LB Shaq Thompson hit free agency and Person believes they could do the same with TE Ian Thomas and K Eddy Pineiro. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6151550/2025/02/24/carolina-panthers-nfl-combine-draft-free-agency-storylines/
