I just can't see anyway they can dig out of this in 2 years. The problems run deeper than just the qb position.  They should just draft bpa from here on out because there's not a single position that doesn't need a starter or at the very least some depth. It's really that bad.

Everything in the NFL can be turned around in 2 years and playoffs in 3. You need good people to get there and ownership that doesn't fug everything up along the way. Free agency and the draft allow any team to restock talent..if they can find it and coach it.

Not defending Tepper but Florio's opinions have gotten strange and out their he really isnt respected like he once was.

He lost huge chunks of his views by this point. He panders to the players and rails agaisnt owners doing their worst.

He is a dinosaur that survived the meteor but is dying in the dust.

He really isn't wrong here which makes it that much more painful. Like even Florio can see it dang

So far all the fix is just the failed parts fixing things.

Tepper/Nicole/Jim Caldwell “finding” the new  GM that was just a guy part of the nightmare.  And if you actually are prioritizing Sportsology to lead you to an answer you don’t bring on Jim Caldwell….and there are tiny odds Sportsology is going to find the answer to our mess inside our mess.  Common sense says that just Teppers/Caldwell steering it.

and yeah, it all sets up for Morgan to go quick and musical chairs to continue.  Because all the reasons Fitterer shouldn’t have been back this year will largely apply to Morgan.  Morgan helped great this nightmare at the end of the day.

the love of your player Morgan has blinded some folks.  It was a bad hire given what Morgan has been part of and what we have been.  Everything from Caldwell helping to the hire has been exactly how you shouldn’t do it.  Textbook Tepper at this point.  More and more it wouldn’t surprise me if Ejiro is the new HC.  Because that’s the path we are on.

The only people I see happy about this are the wilfully blind, those trying to keep sane & positive, a Panther employee and a bunch of ex-players. Pretty much a huge whomp whomp.

And the 49ers hired the firm when the owner's son/CEO was exhausted with internal strife link about Lynch testing York. Said they were hired by York and an executive. Strangely enough not one mention of Sportsology being in the room. None here either but a few good quotes on the power dynamic walking into that mess. After all of that how can anyo e compare their process with ours? They hired externally, John was on the broadcast of the Falcons playoff game shortly before. They were hired as a pair where Lynch went to meet Shanahan before they both agreed. Sportsology is the only thing they have in common that I can see, everything else was different. Tepper is not ready to change yet is the most obvious difference while York was.

Food for thought, everyone here thought Scott Fitterer was a slam dunk hire when we made it, he was a early favorite, and universally celebrated as the right guy when we hired him and we all know now how that turned out.

Dan Morgan is getting almost the opposite reaction, I myself will take a "hope for the best, but wait and see" approach. a negative "hot take" to just continue to poo on the panthers is easy low hanging fruit.

Yeah I called Fitterer what he was from day 1. Well liked, worked with very good people but he wasn't one of those good people just well liked by them. Seattle actually got better when he left.

The reality is that no one is giving a free pass here anymore. The Panthers are the offical worst team and is getting that treatment now. That's the difference.

I get the poo exhaustion but bad news, it's pretty much all that's left so it won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I expect an inverse of last year's blind optimistic fantasy. It's going to be a long year again and I am not sure when it will ever stop.

  5. The only reason the Panthers were talked about so much last year was the trade up to #1. It forced everyone to talk about the Panthers leading up to the draft and they all mailed it in. All star staff blah blah blah. The more obvious that the Panther liked Young the more they mailed it in.

Face it. Last year was forced and now the only stuff to talk about is that everyone knows Tepper is running the worst team in the league. If you think that negativity will change you should just check out for a few years because thisbsituation is the realiry for a long haul.

2.0 Hurney drafted DJ Moore, Brian Burns, Jeremy Chinn, and Derrick Brown. Aka the only players on this roster over the last few years to even in conversation as top ten league talents. Our talent evaluation and drafts have sucked since.

Most of the biggest holes we had post-Gettleman were self-inflicted wounds he caused. Cutting all our offensive lineman in 2014 and never fixing it. Terrible receiving core because we cut Steve Smith. Cutting Josh Norman because his agent was rude. Stuff like that. Hurney wasn't great, but the root of all this is Gettleman.

This team has never had a good GM. Yes Hurney hit on those guys and still built losing teams. As a GM the record of the Panthers under him was 104-121. I never proped up Gettleman in this so not sure why you are on that kick. They all stink regardless of some of their positives. Gettleman drafted CMC and he was still a chode. Looking like yall have some selective memories on Hurney from the current trauma.

I really hope all of you negative Nelly's out there get a fresh dose of humble pie.

From an outside perspective I can understand how "promoting" from within may not be the best move given the dumpster fire of a season.  However, many of you, myself included, are not "real" football guys.

We may actually have something with our defense.  Our offense was ABYSMAL.  Almost as bad if not worse than the Clausen season or even the VInny/St. Pierre seasons.  We won 2 games, however I really think 8 other games were winnable if we could even resemble a bad offense.

Dan Morgan is tough as nails and will hold others accountable.  When Wilks took over, there was a shift in the organization which left when he was shown the door.  Frank Reich doesn't scream accountability.  Scott Fitterer my have been an experienced executive, but he's not a football guy.  My gut says come September, your Carolina Panthers will be tougher and look more like the team that ended the 2022-23 season.

BTW, I am not a fan of Tepper.  I truly think he is ruining this team, hopefully Dan can convince him to take a step back.

JFC the only pie we get as Panthers fans is dogpoofootball pie.

He literally help built a 2 win team, was in the room for all of those awful decisions and then just game of throned his way to GM. Get the fug out of here with that and your alt account.

Loved Dan the person and player but he is dog poo at this point as a Panther employee. I hope he enjoys his pay while licking both Tepper's shoes and asscracks.

I think they largely did okay at OL and LB under Marty outside the first.  It was sort of positional IMO.  The real killer was Marty could never add skill talent in the pass game.  Never once hit on a steal of any kind there.

No he didn't hit on his steals lol. Kalil and Gross were great but the others were all over the place on the oline, even if Otah is lumped with those 2. He drafted Mathis but changed schemes in his rookie preseason (long time ago but I think that's when they pulled the plug) because it was very poorly done and basically obsoleted a good lineman for his term here of 3 years where he went off to become a first team pro-bowler. LBers were his best work so I agree on that. He was always chasing that one thing that he thought would make them contenders every year. His contracts were a big issue also. The Peppers fiasco. The 2010 and lockout missfire. 2.0 took a team that went to 4 out of 5 years in the playoffs at the preseason that was an 11-5 team and then built the beginning of the no win Panthers they are today. He gave Tepper the thumbs up on Rhule. That's just what I can remember but I feel there is a lot more to add.

To be fair, Hurney was an excellent talent evaluator . . . . in the first round.

He tried to draft Clausen in the first but couldn't find a trade partner...

Most of those good 1st round picks came from coaches and such in the first, those picks they debated and stumped amongst themselves. He just saved the picks he wanted to make until the 2nd pick which is why so few of those worked out.

Good point.  Moton getting $30m as a RT and Burns is more valuable that 2 first rounders but not worth what Moton, the RT, is making?   Not sure I see the logic.

$17.8 average on that 4 year deal Link. Suleiman decided to push most of the money back into the last 2 years because he could just make another deal and push more dead cash to another year. If he would have given Burns a deal similar in structure then it's like Burns having a cap hit of 60 million his last 2 years...

IMO, the only really bad signing last year was Sanders.  And I am not sure they will cut him.  The bigger issue last year was injuries and bad draft picks not performing.  Well, that and trading away our best players on offense without having effective replacements.

Thielen was the only good signing, Bell was OK and the rest were awful and should be gone soon. Even the deals they did with Bozeman was bad. Corbett is a 11.6 dead cap hit on his last year and he only played in 4 games this year. There is plenty of dead cap on the way and Suleiman was a big part of all of that.

    Regarding the structure...

His hiring is also a first step. He'll report to owner David Tepper, as will the next coach of the team...

The head coach reporting directly to the owner? 🤔

Lol there goes meaningful change. Dave still wants wveryone to have access to him so SSDD.

I wanted to fully clean house but my main question about adding a cap/contract guy, isn't Samir Suleiman still employed here?  Thats entirely what hes done I thought.

It's honestly probably just Tepper pushing more analytics into the system. He doesn't see the issue as player evaluation problems but some number his people need to find to make it all work. It's been a common theme with him trying to mine the magical numbers that help turn his failures into success.

No idea what SS is doing anymore. The contracts have looked like crap after the Moore extension so maybe not having him handling contracts anymore is a good thing.

He scouted the transition to 3-4. That we know. We get it Waldo, the Panthers suck but at some point you need to offe lr something beyond repeating 1 of 2 or 3 things over and over again.

We also know the pro personnel he signed as the pro personnel guy and it was awful.

There is nothing else to offer because that is all we are given and if people are already making up cope then it needs to keep being said apparently.

  15.  It was posted else where but OCs don't last more than 2 years in the modern NFL. Either they don't produce in a short time while getting fired or they do and get hired away.

They should have just hired Steichen as the HC last year before letting him get away. They would still be in the playoffs but they decided to keep the defensive HC that just nosed dived his playoff team the second half of the season.
