  1. I despise the Cowboys but he seems talented. That roster management has some issues but he looks like he had an eye for tallent. Not thrilled about the potential to having heavy connections to the Boys longterm.

It's like with Miami. Lots of tallent but their teams are soft when not beating up on mediocre or bad teams. It's coaching and roster management IMO.

  2. Depends on the new GM. An ugly and possibly useless tag fight is not productive in improving the team. If the new GM can convince him to take the tag and find a partner then yes. If Burn's camp thinks it is worth a fight then it so much easier to say thank you and good luck while not looking like more of a trainwreck.

I have no idea why he would want to stay now unless they throw an epic contract at him. He would have already had a contract with the Rams and he has not forgotten that.

Remember, the knock on Weinke was his age.  Played baseball a couple years I believe.  I never could understand how he didn't make it.  He's now a really successful QB trainer apparently.

He spent 6 years playing AAA baseball. Heisman at 28. He couldn't play under center well and he was most comfortable in shotgun if I remember correctly. The mental part of the NFL game was his biggest weakness...again if I remember correctly.

He is coaching at GT as a QB coach and was working as a QB trainer for some company years ago.

well, I have never seen about on Harbaugh at either level.  Maybe it's out there. But the owners/GM/Harbaugh fighting is very well documented.  Think that's the primary driver there.

but his inability to work with folks would prevent him from getting hired here.  but I'm down with any slander that keeps him out of Carolina.  I'm team Vrabel until I can't be.

The GM vs HC at that time with ownership backing the GM. Two 1 and dones at HC under that GM and the owner finally figured out how to marry those two together. York actually said he would like to have dinner with JH right after hiring Shanny and Lynch Link. It took 2 more seasons but he did change and his time with JH was a big part of that.

Yeah, I think it’s sort of overlooked how quick and easy Tepper could be done with Bryce.  Tepper cuts his losses quicker than a lot of owners.  I mean he is putting himself in position to have to do it….but he still does it.

End of the day QB play is just that.  What you gave up for a player doesn’t really matter.  And it’s why Mr Irrelevant might play in the Super Bowl this year and the last guy who cost as much as Bryce is somewhere on a bench with another team.  The gotta give him 2-3 years just because mantra just ain’t something I am buy in todays NFL.

He absolutely could Teddy him this offseason and I have mixed feelings, at least get some value or it will look terrible to not give him at least a toke additional season to try and improve. Tepper has seen he isn't good enough. The only question is does he understand that and will he allow a good plan to make that mistake go away? No idea but that possibility does exist with his history.

No, watching him in practice is not good enough evaluation when you gave up 3 first round picks to get him.

I don't have the 49ers in the Super Bowl, although I admittedly stopped watching the NFL when Flacco was signed over Cam. But the 3 game stretch without Deebo showed exactly who Purdy is - someone who needs his skill position players to be 3x-4x more talented than those defending them. That will simply not happen 3 consecutive times in the playoffs.

No one is certain Lance is a bust... unless you can travel to a dimension in which he actually played in the NFL. It's just likely he would've been a HOFer as a bust.

I get why they wouldn't want Lance as a backup but not why they wouldn't want him as a starter, especially considering the other options on the roster.

Malik Willis, Trey Lance, and even present-day Cam Newton are more talented than half the QBs starting in the NFL this year, yet it only took 7 games played in the last 3 seasons BETWEEN THEM to determine that all 3 are done and cannot play in the NFL.

Remember when Baker was done after his 5 games here?

Baker is in the playoff because the NFCS stink not because he is good, just good enough. Good for him but no he isn't a good QB.

Lance appeared in 19 games in three years (edit: lol 8 games in 2 seasons, I used his school games le sigh Link I used), they knew what they had. He didn't play more because of injury and poor play. Lance is a bust for them but he has the next few seasons to try and prove he isn't a complete bust. In that situation with Purdy looking better there wasn't any reasons to keep him around and a lot of reasons to not do so.

Willis has looked awful, no where close to NFL level playable but he is on a rookie deal but also has to face a new HC (still has not thrown a TD in 11 games of play). Cam is awesome but his shoulder is done so unless someone is using him as a powerback he doesn't have an NFL future barring some kind of medical miracle. Purdy is a great fit in that system but yeah Cam was right and a lot of people still do not like that.

  7. Keep Brown and see a new deal.

See what a new deal with Moton looks like if not solid then trade away, no reason to get back into Burns territory with that needing to be addressed.

Trade for what they can: Jackson and Horn need to be gone neither can be relied upon at this point. Theilen is wasted here and should play out his career somewhere with hope. See if Woods has trade value. See if Sanders has trade value.

Cut Tuttle, Hurst and Thomas. Just get it over with, June 1st whoever makes the most sense. Add in Corbett.

Not sure about Bozeman. Feel like if he isn't a fit here he could still net a pick maybe.

Do not sign Burns longterm. Tag and trade or let walk if it looks ugly.

I don't  think the message is to not try to win.  I think it's acknowledging that it is an uphill battle from the start. It's not saying playoffs or bust. It's says let's see what they are made of and who is part of the plans going forward. If you base it on last seasons results that means only a handful of players. Of course there will need to be a lot more of those types to include.  But it's hard to say if there's any being overlooked because everything was complete ass with this team. There's not enough talent here or that can be added in one offseason to expect a winning season. This can't is just not good enough to seriously compete. But the team will never admit that in public. It's just a given that will go unstated or unacknowledged by the team. As fans you should know this also. If not you will be severely disappointed.

He was saying that they have to play Young, I said competition is best. Saying you must play Young when he can't win the job is saying play Young over trying to win. It's a 2 win team so ofcouse all of it is uphill from here. If you would have asked anyone if Reich would be fired midseason year 1 no one would have said yes. If you are saying play Young in all 24 regardless then you are asking, baring a miracle I guess, them to lose. That is tanking and a terrible way for a new crew to start. He will play and get a shot but if it's still 'all in on Bryce' and not 'give Bryce a chance' there is a solid chance it ends the same way.

The Bucs went to the playoffs with Baker. It really doesn't take much more to win more, at least in the NFCS. People are already afraid of missing that #1 pick in 25 and if that was the top priority they should just keep Tabor as the HC for another year and hire a GM to hire the new HC in 25.

I am on a board for Panthers fans, disappointment all we get now. It's easier to just say the people hiring everyone are really bad at it so why expect anything to change now?

I think the consensus is this new, fresh regime is getting 2-3 years to start getting this headed in the right direction. No one expects us to be good next year not even Tepper. It’s foolish to play a different QB

Don't try to win is a bad message for the new crew. I get Young getting a shot but if that is the game plan they may not make it to year 2 either.

  10. Just now, FuFuLamePoo said:

No you don’t. If he’s going to fail I’d rather him fail epically so ideally we’re back at the top of the draft next year and can draft whoever the best QB is in that draft. I don’t see how bringing in a Garoppolo type to take us from a 3 win team to a 5 win team solves anything besides hurting draft positioning

I think you could have done that with Fritters and Reich still here but not a new crew. That will not end up with good hires in that scenario. I was thinking of another Dalton or prove it guy type backup, nothing expensive like Jimmy G has been(then again Jimmy G in 23 is about right play wise). I don't think you can do that to a new staff and think you end up with anyone good that will be tied to having to play Young another 16 or 17 games.

Being purposable obtuse is a strange look for him.  But he always seems to pop up to defend bryce

I think it's a schtick but it might be mental illness so I am just leaving that alone. I get wanting Young to succeed but going to his draft or school history to prop him up with his NFL film is just laughable. It feels like punching down so I'm out.

What planet do you live on..

Even Dalton knew he wasn’t brought here to be competition .. He’s literally said that in interview.. His job is to backup and support BY.. Which he will be doing again next year..

Reich literally tried to bench Young to play Dalton. I said he was already here.

Please keep up the clown act. You are the fan Young deserves

They aren’t bringing in competition I’m sorry..

Reality is unlike this board most of the league doesn’t see BY as the problem..

They already have Dalton and the last coach already tried lol, the one the helped draft him lol

Better get ready for the inevitable. Also all of that draft BS is already dead and gone. It's like watching his school film at this point. There is actual NFL game film and it's terrible lol.

Some of you are going to be so disappointed…smh

We already were when Young was drafted.

Nothing I said was wrong or delusional. Anyone that would just roll into next year with only Young after this year deserves to be one and done in their jobs. If Young can't beat out a backup he shouldn't be starting. It really doesn't get any simpler than that.

He gets 2024. He's the clear and undisputed starter next year. The "trade for Fields" or "draft Penix" discussions are hilarious for multiple reasons. Mainly because they aren't happening.

Commit this offseason to shoring up the offensive line and primarily adding weapons. I actually think the line could be somewhat fixed relatively easily. We were without our guards almost all season. Get them back next year. Ideally we find another LT and can kick Ekwonu inside but we'll see.

It is true our receiver room has no speed or even talent. That has to be addressed and priority #1 this offseason. We need quick winners who can generate separation. Maybe Hollywood Brown could sign here with enough money. Someone like that would help.

If Bryce isn't showing real improvement next year the new HC/GM are perfectly justified if they want to start looking for other options as early as 2025. You can usually tell after 2 years.

After his play this year they have to bring in competition. It doesn't have to be a pick or a trade or an expensive FA, all sound like terrible choices to me at this point. Just someone that can play at NFL backup level. If Young can't beat that out then he shouldn't be starting. What was spent on him is gone along with 2 key people that brought him in so that doesn't matter. Either they can get better play out of him in 24 or he is toast. They already forced him to play most of a season with little improvement so playing time isn't the issue.

Fix the team for sure either way. The lines, WRs and TEs need to happen regardless. As for Bryce if he can't do better in training camp he shouldn't be starting going forward. Sign a backup QB and let them compete.

    Pride and ego.

You know folks don’t like to be wrong lol

That one hurts either way. Four 1000+ yard seasons out of six in this dumpster fire but he isn't a #1 WR...

A WR doesn't have to be insta HOF material to be good. Trading up for a QB and getting rid of the only good WR was so incredibly dumb. I hated that trade when it happed and still find it mindboggling. That's not even brining up watching Burns walk lol

  17. This is what happens when you have fools in charge. Take the original trade or sign him, nope they waited and then bickered about the price because he really isn't worth the value of the Rams offer. How the fug they let it come into this year without a deal is on the team, players always ask for what they can get and regardless if it was us or someone else this deal should have been done last offseason. Yes he wanted too much but they could have done a trade and just owned up to not being as good as the one they turned down from the Rams.

I hope the new GM can find a trade partner he will go with or just let him go. Yes it stinks but that deal was screwed up already and I just want to be done with any players with any promises from the last idiot in charge of the roster.

He isn't nearly as good as the people in Carolina have been telling him for years. When you lie like that the bill comes due. Well here it is. Could have been a valuable part of it all but no he has to be called great.

“He’s a phenomenal leader and has been totally into it,” Panthers coach Frank Reich said. “In the meeting room, on the practice field he’s totally locked in. And he’s making good progress physically. We are not only expecting him to be a great player on the field but also be a great leader.”“What I am learning about him, like most great players, is he’s a very smart football player,” Reich said. “So that allows us to do different things with him. Sure, we mainly want (him) to rush the passer. But it does allow us to do other things. ... We will see how that all plays out.”

Just call him a valuable part of the team and stop blowing smoke he hasn't earned. It's been the same BS since he was drafted. 1 year of double digit sacks is not greatness. It's good job now keep trying for better. Peppers had 12 in 12 games his rookie year, that is what special looks like.

Plausible contention is the injury mocking is what initiated Tepper's ire towards the fan and the heckling as the interception happened was the straw that broke the camel's neck.

That or Tepper is trying to find the one slim excuse that could garner sympathy for him in the Panthers Org.

It screams excuse. A friend leaked this and it is mighty convenient. The entire thing is a hilarious attempt at misdirection. Tepper the player's hero lol

I would like to keep Evero.  Considering his defense was forced to play 75% of the season I think he's a good DC. Keeping him for one more season could benefit us going into 2025.  If we retain him and he gets a HC gig in 2025 we get compensated with a 3rd round pick.  in 2025 draft capital should be a top priority.

Losong decent people is the price of being so poorly run. With the stuff they had going on in that house a 100% cleaning would be best. He looks like a good DC and I am not sure he had any part of that activity but DCs are not the most difficult positions to fill in the modern NFL.
