Average Backup Or Special-Teamer
Strengths
Explosive athlete.
Rangy with good chase-down gallop to the sideline.
Burst and change of direction make him a toolsy rusher.
Hands are very sticky when he gets his chances to take the ball away.
Lateral agility to expand his short-area tackle success.
Weaknesses
Play recognition and football instincts are lacking.
Frequently fooled by misdirection in both run and pass games.
Lacks patience and leverage in his scrape, allowing cutback lanes to runners.
Pulled out of position by bait routes in his spot drops.
Pass rush could use more elusiveness when diving into A- or B-gaps.

Was he? The guards we trotted out there were practice squad level. AT was the only WR trying. Chuba was the only RB with consistency. And... our offensive coach was playing an outdated offense. Hurst showed up for two games. Not saying Young is the answer but I'm giving him a mulligan.
You really don’t remember the narrative before last season? The dream team staff?
Thielen and Chark hype?
Our shiny new RB?
Id say our line is better this year but it’s not a rock solid line and we still only have one proven WR who isn’t old and slow.

It’s not about who’s available….
Its about who they are targeting.
This FO doesn’t play the draft.
They have a shopping list.
So who do we know they like?

Not ready to say that yet.
He was ‘setup for success’ last year too, and we see how that went.

They should have picked Jackson Powers-Johnson and Brooks and the plan would have made sense. I can’t believe they plan to go into the season with a guard coming off some serious knee injuries converting to center with no backup plan. Classic idiot panthers.
My guess is they plan to move one of the new guards to center in that situation. -

Where are these Debbie Downers coming from? Are they Cicadas? You get the best RB in the draft vs. the 10th best CB. I wanted the LB. However, a RB that can catch better that Chuba, block better than Chuba, and run better than Chuba--behind our new guards---I see it.
I like the idea of getting the best player in the draft at a position. However, he said he *might* be ready to go by training camp.
For a rookie, that’s not what you want to hear if you need a starter.

It's a good trade. It gives us an extra chance to pick a not-as-terrible player to replace a worse player on the team.
Lol…we’ll need that 2nd rounder to replace the one we’re about the draft.- 1

Someone said this before, but Canales really does give off strong youth pastor vibes.
I see it.To me he is more like a girls soccer coach.

I actually wanted BPA at 33 preferably a center. Maybe a WR at 39. Ladd Mcconkey is just the answer to your question of who is more polished than XL.
As a fan of this team for over 20 years I can say without uncertainty that this move is short sighted and made based off of fear. It’s not the obligatory 5th we gave up that I care about, it’s the philosophy of the move. We’ve made moves like this for the past 5 years. And no, I don’t trust this staff to make the correct decisions when it comes to the draft because since Tepper has taken over our drafts have been dog poo.
I hope I’m wrong. I always hope I’m wrong when I think a move we make is crap. Turns out though the majority of the moves weve made under Tepper are indeed crap. I get it if Leggette is your guy. But this organization lost my trust years ago.
This team once again got tunnel vision on one guy. This might be my biggest issue with the trade.
It points to the same behavior that led us to drafting the fewest prospects in the league over the past 3 years.
They need to let the draft come to them and stop chasing ‘their guys’.

They apparently did not want to lose him.
Yeah, I heard the team with the 33rd pick really liked him.

I honestly don't think he's making the decisions. I don't think Fitterer was either. These guys just have to go up there and try to make sense out of what Tepper is doing. They're just there to take the fall.
No doubt Tepper is/was involved, but the idea that Dan hasn’t been heavily involved the past few years is crazy.Fitt wasn’t doing all this on his own.
Minus Fitt, this is the same crew.

David Newton (love him and hate him) called the owner of the bar and said there was no argument and Jonathan Jones (who doesn’t like Tepper) even retweeted Newton that it’s really a nothing burger

He didn’t argue. He probably stopped off to joke about it like he does often with businesses around that area
I can see that, but that restaurant has a history of putting up snarky signs aimed at Tepper.Could be either.

Still can’t believe Penix will be 28 when cousins deal is up…
The odds of that front office still being there when Penix is ready is so low.
Crap situation for him.

Wow pick 14 and still no defensive guys. I really think it’s gonna be CB or DE at 33
We need great talent anywhere we can get it.Im ok with D if someone really good falls.

Not any blue chip talent on D this year. -
Lots of QBs. Good for us.
