Many of us have been begging for a tank year for years. Of course we do it going into a year projected to have a weak QB class.

Way too early to know what the QB class will look like, but if nothing else Shedeur Sanders should be an option. Or hopefully Bryce shows some life and we can use that pick on a pass rusher or WR.

  2. Honestly... and this will be unpopular around here, I know... but fug the defense right now.

We all know we're not winning this year. Build the best OL and WR corp possible and Bryce either sinks or swims in year 2 under Dave Canales.

If he sinks, we'll probably be picking top-3 and at least we'll have a good OL and some weapons for the QB we draft to replace him. If he swims, we go into 2025 with some cap space and draft picks we can use to re-build the defense knowing we've got the pieces on offense.

I like Hunt, but not understanding the point of it.  I'm sure they want a big, road grader guard to better fit the scheme we're implementing, but BC was pretty good and so is Corbett.  Wonder if this means Corbett is toast?

Hopefully it means BC is now a backup. He'd be a hugely useful depth piece to have considering he can play either tackle or guard spot. Having a quality backup swing OL like that can make a huge difference over the course of a season.

I think most of us prefer Burns to hit the road. Your correct though, retaining both is really not an option.

One is among the elite players at his position, the other is a good - sometimes even great - player who wants to be paid like he's elite.

If you're going to pay elite player money, just make sure you're giving it to an elite player.

Darnold performed well in 2022 when he was supported by a run-first offense and wasn't asked to win games by himself. He could be a very good QB on a team like Minnesota that will put a lot of talent around him. But if Kevin O'Connell is going to try to throw the ball 70% of the game, Darnold is going to look like he always has.

It never ceases to amaze me how highly-drafted QB busts always find teams willing to try rehabbing them despite the success rate on those type of reclamation projects being nearly zero. How many times has this actually worked in the last 30 years?

I get it for teams that need a backup like the 49ers did; that makes sense. But for teams looking for a starting QB to actually think they can take a guy who has failed to live up to the hype after 4+ years in the league and turn them into a quality starter just reeks of arrogance on the part of the HC and/or desperation or naivety (or both) on the part of the GM.

  6. Extend him, trade him; just get it over with already.

He should be traded ASAP if we don't intend to extend him or don't think we can get a deal done. We don't need that much cap space tied up all offseason unless we plan to have him on the field this year. Otherwise we need the cap space to sign a replacement.
