A DT playing CB or vice versa would certainly qualify as surprising, that's for sure.

The Hornets were screwed when they lost out on the #1 pick.
Outside of Cooper Flagg this was a terrible draft class full of risky prospects and red flags.
Kon Knueppel likely won't ever be a superstar - or even a star, realistically - but he can be a solid contributor for a long time in the league. That's actually more than I think will end up being the case for many of these players.

Good tacklers are rare. Good coverage skills are rare. Having both is more rare.
Coverage skills I can understand, but you'd think solid tacklers would be less rare than they are. That's a pretty basic skill for someone to learn if they're playing defense, at any age.

Honestly Woods was pretty trash. Tackles can very much be a double edged sword for a DB. Can be because he's really good in run support or can be because he's giving up a lot of completions.
I don't understand why it's so rare to find a safety that can both tackle and cover. I guess because the ones who can tackle get moved to linebacker early in their careers and the ones who can cover are moved to corner, but you'd still think more of them would stick at safety than do.

We need to quit being "interested" in signing a safety and actually sign one of them.

Is he still unsigned? Big fan of him since college and I feel his dad was one of the most underrated players in NFL history. He’s a baller.
He's still unsigned, due to injury I think. He should be able to play this year, but I think teams are just waiting for more clarity before signing him.

TBH I'd rather have a younger and cheaper Samuel Jr but wouldn't be mad at it
I agree with this. ASJ would be another good option.

I mean I almost feel like we have to at least make an offer. Unless he's asking insane money it's worth a shot.
Granted, we'd have the most fragile pair of Pro Bowl corners of all time, but they'd be sick when healthy.

I feel like we have some depth; we just need that proven nickel. Mike Jackson is a decent #2, but ideally we'd have a proven veteran in the slot.
Smith-Wade might be able to fill that role, but he's far from a sure thing.

Something I thought was interesting about the Horn Jr pick. Candles didn't seem very impressed and Dan Morgan wanted "some Miami" in the room/building. I think a difference in perspective between them for late round picks. Dan valued the dang in him, Canales less interested because holes in his game.
Note : all this is based on my dumbass reaction to a 10 second snippet.
If this is true I don't hate it. We could definitely use "some Miami" on this team. It's something we've lacked since Cam left. And in the 6th round, I feel like we're adding a really good return specialist if nothing else by picking JHJ.

Bryce is trying to prove he can be considered a legit starter and the majority of our receiving corps are young guys with potential but little to no proven NFL production. This is highly unlikely to be an MVP season for Bryce. We're just trying to figure out if he's going to take the Jared Goff path or the Justin Fields path.
I agree, but stranger things have happened.

Mvp odds +8000. Should drop a 100 and see what happens
I actually think Bryce is a decent option as a dark horse MVP candidate. Not many people had Cam winning MVP in 2015 either. Or Mahomes in 2018.

Zero problem with paying big money to the OL. Other than QB, there isn't a more important position group on the field.

Geno Smith at #10 is probably the wildest thing on this list. Geno is borderline top 20. Purdy is a few spots too high but Geno is probably 10 spots too high.
Don't know that I agree; Geno is pretty solid. I'd take him over Purdy, TBH.
You put Geno in that Shanahan offense - and take Purdy out of it - and I think Geno would shine while Purdy would fall flat very quickly.

I think it was more of us having to start our fifth string running back as to why we didn’t get to the superbowl
No chance we were going into Seattle that year in the NFC Championship and beating the Seahawks. Maybe if we had managed to get the #1 seed and hosted the game, but people tend to forget how good that Seahawks team was in 2005.
-
I'm not sure I see how re-seeding after the first round is necessary, but I'm all for doing seedings based purely off record.
Of course, that does very little to address the issue of strength of schedule. Plenty of teams end up with more wins than they otherwise would because they don't play as many good teams.

I don't hate @ Jacksonville week 1. Anyone remember how we ended up doing the last time we started the season in Jacksonville?

Might as well. We need to get these rookies on the field and see if they can play ASAP.

My birthday wish is that the huddle changes Ians name like they did with The Golden Calf of Bristol. I do not care to see his fuging name ever again.
My dad's a Raiders fan who has been hearing me bitch about Ian Thomas for years. When I told him the Raiders signed him he stopped for a minute, then realized I wasn't joking and said "now why the hell would they go and do that?"

Blackmon is the best option, IMO. Simmons wasn't good at all in Atlanta last year, though he does have experience in Evero's scheme so there is that.

$100k? That's it? I'd go for $1M at least.

I loved our draft outside of the 4th round. I felt there were better RBs available than Etienne and better safeties than Ransom, but I don't hate either pick. Our 5th round could end up being the best value we've had in a draft since Josh Norman.
Best draft picks ever at each slot (4 Panthers)

Not cheating here. My guesses...
1. Ryan Kalil
2. Ricky Manning, Jr.
3. Josh Norman
4. Mike Minter
