I really like Jay Tufele. Seems like a well rounded tackle that can do it all. He would be my top choice for DT in the entire draft.

If we wait a little, I like Jaylen Twyman.

I like both of them as well as Darius Stills if we wait late. Apparently Rhule likes him from the senior bowl

I think Jay and Jaylen are third or fourth round types, but Jay is like you said, more well rounded.

Jaylen and Darius are third down pass rush types for now.

Watched him for what equates to three and a half seasons of college ball. Would not bank on him ever being consistent enough to be somebodies long term #2.

Exactly, i'd rather roll the dice on the bum from Florida or Davis Mills.

  3. To pair with Big D?

Im intrigued by Alim McNeil, honestly despite that hes not thought of as a penetrator type. He is known as a guy who plays three downs and generates a ton of pressure.

Imagine him and Brown pushing that pocket in while, Burns and Co. are coming around the edge.

  4. Pitts is fun but my pick is sewell in that case. Id take freirmuth in the 2nd and be happy with the first two.

Id say roll the dice, but the only other legit left tackle is eichenberg and he will be gone by the time we pick in the 2nd.

  5. Yep. Top qb picks (1st round) seem to pan out about 1/4 of the time, thats why packaging so many picks to move up surprises me with some of these teams.

Giving up one additional pick i get, but mortgaging the future for it seems like too small a target to hit. Its poor odds.

They’re not trading up a spot for Lance. In this scenario they’d have either Lance, Sewell or Slater to choose from at 8

I go back and forth on this. Just not sure what rhule and brady think of him. If they think he is an eventual playoff caliber qb, theyd be nuts to let that small of a move pass them by.

Now if denver drives the price up, then they may pass. But id see them giving up a 3rd plus number 8 to move up.

Doubt they'll let themselves get ransomed though.

The Falcons put the screws to themselves on about a half dozen contracts, most notably Ryan.  I think 2023 is the first year they can get out from under him without a $40M dead cap hit.  In 2022 he costs them something like $48M to keep and $40M to unload.  The cap equivalent of "choose the manner in which you will die, and old age is not an option."

To me, that means that they signed up to run with Ryan and Julio for at least another year and probably two.  If that is true, they aren't taking your next QB in the first round this year because he does you know good with your last ditch run.  They need somebody that can step on the field now, especially on the defensive side of the ball.  That could mean trading down a bit, if you can find somebody willing to pay the price.

Of course, they could decide they are screwed one way or another, just lucky to be in the black right now (vs. the cap) and start the rebuilding process.  Their problem after this year is not only that they are under water and have tied up a ton of cap in a few players, but they have very few in the total that puts them under water.

Great point. Just seems like a big gamble either way for them. Which is good, i hope they poo the bed no matter how they play it.

To travel across the country, you need a dependable vehicle.  Imagine everyone wanted to travel across country, but there were only enough dependable vehicles for half of them.  You go after that dependable vehicle and you get one--however, you have not paved the road (offensive line), or bought insurance (defense).  Others have paved roads and insurance.  Who gets across the country first?

This allegorical tale was to demonstrate that signing a QB means very little if we are not ready for a QB.  It is also to say if we are ready and don't have a QB, we are going nowhere.  So the moral of this lesson is "A QB in the hand may be worth 2 in the bush, but a QB on a stretcher is worth less than the bush."

    Let that sink in.

All the seemingly endless possibilities are too annoying and a bit of a waste to ponder upon. Whatever is going to happen will happen. Nothing any of us can do about it.

At the end of the day, even if we roll with Teddy again I will support him and the team.

    But yeah..fug the Falcons!

Understand your position but the strategic behavior is interesting to me. I like the guess work, but i get it with all the threads it can get tiresome to others.

We at least agree on the falcons. I grew up in alabama, but i despise all things atlanta.

  10. Do you risk a trade with Denver and move back simultaneously rat fuging us and still possibly getting Pitts? Im assuming the dolphins and lions go WR and that bengals go with sewell.

That would be the absolute nightmare scenario for me. Although i guess it would mean we could still pick Slater, so not a terrible deal.

I think we probably trade up to #5 with Cincy for Justin Fields. I think the Falcons will try to put together one last run with Matt Ryan.

Yep. If falcons dont take a qb we will likely throw an offer to the Bengals. They question is if they want Sewell. I think if thats their guy they stay put, despite Slater being available. The nfl is weird, some of these teams will draft for traits above all else. Plus sewell is only just now 20.

If hes not, i can see it happening.

Then again im not sure what detroit and the eagles want to do.

    Assuming we stay at 8?

  12. I think the word is Mayfield is better suited to guard but that he doesnt have experience there so its mostly an athletic projection. Sounds like he struggles with fast edge guys, but i havent seen him play so its just second hand.

My thoughts too. I’m sure the coaching staff knows if they will try Moton at LT. I wish we knew. Would be very relevant as we look at some of these prospects.

Guys this link says he has 500 snaps at LT, so maybe he could slot there? Also says he could play guard so probably more of a RT guy. But Moton had the same profile and i thought he did well at left. Thoughts?

  14. I was able to stumble upon this by searching for individual prospects. I tried to find it  but i dont think its officially live on the site yet. It wont let me look at individual profiles this way but it gives each players ranking and the ordering. Some may find it interesting. Cheers.

  15. Eichenberg is my choice. Not an elite athlete but ready to play. I think this staff would go with Hudson over him due to athletic profile. If tevin jenkins is still there, run to the podium to select. I think he goes first round.

D'ante Smith is a good one that will he available late in the second if we trade back.

Leatherwood is not a LT imo. Will end up at G. Gives up lots of pressure to the edge.
