  1. Great point. The trends I mentioned are reinforced by the very teams that think the same way in terms of which positions are premiums (mostly teams that are very good too). How many super bowl teams have a remmers at OT? How many of the perennial playoff contenders?
  2. You dont draft guards, centers, safeties, ILB or tight ends in the first round unless they are sure fire HOF types, like Quenton Nelson. The cost for top flight OT, DT, DE/OLB, QB, WR, and CB are so much higher relative to those others, its almost always the wrong move to draft any that arent those five. There are also always more of the first group available in free agency with CB and WR sometimes available because there are so many (raw numbers) drafted. Play the odds folks.
  3. Given that the immediate impact we need at edge. We almost certainly address that in Free agency, not in the draft. Same with Linebacker, unless Styles or Allen is still there at 19. I think the same for OT. What is the position that we could draft in the 1st round and get immediate help in the first is how im approaching their decision-making I know ill get dragged for this, but im thinking they go DT in the first. A guy that can play right away and be a complement to D.Brown to wreak havoc at the LOS. So unless a top tier LB is there, I think DT will be the move.
  4. Good points. I agree on QB, for a position where guys routinely play till 35 or 40 at a high level it wouldnt be an issue to me. Like Bo Nix was older (24 I think) when he was drafted. But once a DL gets over 30, they often seem to lose a step.
  5. It matters a lot less when players seek free agency (and the league doesnt get in the way)as often as possible. That allows more sorting for talent needs across the league. The right players get to the right team and so forth.
  6. Yes. I get the logic, its just which of the alternatives is what happens. But definitely see your and @Swaggasaurusposition. Wish I knew for sure. If he hits, its totally worth it as he'll be at his peak right aound the time we are making a playoff run. Like I said, I dont hate it. Im just risk averse.
  7. Yeah, there are a lot of vet edges available this year, so the prices will be somewhat reasonable. Think we get a starter at C (linderbaum), Edge (old dude on a 1 year deal) , and LB in free agency (chanel).
  8. A play now edge but a draft pick is a long term investment. My thought was they ultimately want Princely to seize the role but are using bridges until the light goes on. Also being 25 doesnt mean you are adapted to the NFL. That could still take a year or two. I wouldnt hate it but there are reasons why its not ideal.
  9. Bain is largely considered one of the "stand up citizens" type players. Likely a zero problems issue and a great talent but thats a wild price to pay for a guy. I have no doubt hes a long term plus starter in the NFL based on his coaching and attitude. We almost got him at Auburn with coach Roc Bellantoni. Glad he went to Miami though, Jason Taylor as a coach? Yes, please.
  10. I see the logic, but I want a guy who starts and contributes huge minutes out of the gate. Edges seem to often take longest to mature given they go up against such badasses in the starting OTs. I think we should get an experienced rush edge to pair with ****** and let Princely develop as a backup until he catches on. At our pick I don't see day one type guys. Maybe Mesidor, but hes 25. Doubt Dan takes a guy thats already older like that. Maybe a better pick for a team already making a super bowl run. Same with LB, if we somehow magically end up with Styles then all day. But after Reese, Styles, and CJ Allen is there a day one starter? I like Golday in the second but think if you get him you still need a seasoned starter since we need multiple LBs that lets Golday ease in slowly. Maybe you take Anthony Hill Jr. there in the first. Great physical profile and just take your lumps as he learns beside a vet.
  11. That tells me OTs are gonna get drafted high. Theres a good crop of them though.
  12. Hmmm. Im a big OL guy so this is tempting. I think we are sticking with Moton for two more years though so if we take a second then id go in the third or fourth for a second. Would be a shock move though and long term I wouldnt hate it.
  13. Id be happier right now if we had four first round draft picks.
  14. Based on these numbers, Id cut the guy if you can avoid paying him 17 million for a 5th year.
  15. Seeing the diversity of answers makes me realize that they are questions worth asking. Some of yall answer like you are at the card table. Lol. I have no idea what they should do or will do, as several of the moves arent made in a vacuum. Should be a fun off-season.
  16. 1. What do you do with Icky? Likely a scratch for next season and due a massive contract (if healthy) 2. Coker has the talent for 2nd WR, but do you pay a guy who gets hurt that premium? I think hes your number 3 simply due to risk. Will the Panthers seek another vet or go surprisingly high in the draft? 3. Do you give X more feature time? Or cut bait now? 4. Planning the long term/short term on OL 5. How do you address LB? 6. Do you bank of Chuba bouncing back? These moves will determine if Dan's can maintain a consistent playoff level team.
  17. I like how OP is being reasonable on the free agents. Not just reaching for the absolute cream of the crop guys.
  18. Uh, guys with McDermotts record dont go back down a step. He'll have his pick of jobs. Josh Allen or not.
  19. We for sure need another legit pass catching threat but not sure id bank on Sadiq. I can think of three positions to address in the first and TE/WR ain't it.
  20. Edge and LB. I agree with the above poster that said edges take a while, so I wouldnt count out Prince just yet. Grab a high level vet at edge and hit LB as the first pick and grab a mid-level LB to pair with the young guy. Then get a real number 2 passing threat. No Coker is not a number 2....even if he becomes that no negative in having another legit threat. Be it a high level pass catching tight end or another WR. Hell or both.
