In his career, he has missed 2 full seasons with groin injuries.
He had a groin pull the likes of which you've never seen in your whole life!

Honestly, I'd like to see Eddie come back, he's been more than reliable for us. They all miss kicks now and then and he's been better than most. However, there's probably a top end to pay for a kicker when you're rebuilding a team, so he could quickly get out of our price range.
If he goes elsewhere, good luck to him, he did right by us. And some other guy is going to get a shot at one of only 32 spots to do that job there are in the world. Good luck to that guy, too.
Edit to add: Wouldn't be the same without JJJ around here. Glad he will stay on, there's going to be a lot of new faces on special teams, we need that veteran presence.
Good thing we have a 7th round pick.

Hes the kinda guy that can play to 38, but man we are just so far away. If this we're year 4 with Bryce then maybe. Just think it's too soon.
-
Really? Don't we need a kicker? Thought the "all time most accurate" kicker was getting shipped.
-
How confident are you that we take a kicker with our seventh round pick?

There is no way I'd be happy with this team drafting a receiver at 8.
This defense needs a lot of talent, you can't do that by skipping talent at the top of the draft.
A receiver at 8 isn't going.to help us if our defense can't stop the opposing team. I don't care how close we came to beating the superbowl teams this last season.
Edge. DT. LB. ALL is neededed. BPA with the front 7 in mind.
Fix the defense, please, or this team will still be hard to watch.
If mcmillian isn't a true number 1 (i have no idea) then I agree completely. But this is an offensive league. In no way do we have a top 5-10 wr corp. So we can certainly use a standout wr. Regardless of how bad the D is to this point.

I never said anything about need or positional value, I was pointing out that comparing players based on their positional rank is pointless and that isn’t how teams look at it, they look at grade.
I know what you said, scrow and I elaborated. Those grades if close default to positional need and value. Get some.

Teams don’t think in terms of positional rankings, they think in terms of grades.
CB2 could have a higher grade than Edge2 or even WR1.
Think in terms of tiers. Wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of teams end up with 1-2 players in their top tier, and 3-4 in the next. If any of those fall to 8 they have to be considered.
Yes, but positional value matters when you include FA and the draft. If I need to bring in a free agent do I want to pay a high end edge or safety? Obviously an impact safety is much cheaper. Buidling your OT, DE, CB, WR, and QB through the draft makes the most sense. Fill in the rest with FA - safety, te, lb, rb, oc, etc.
So unless a safety is rated far higher, you always default to the premium positions as your high level draft picks.

Hadn't seen Nolan that high. Prefer the michigan kid if we go interior.

Cam won Auburn a title. For that I'll love him all of my days. But sometimes he's kinda dumb.

It's a trap. Two years at 7, three at 5.

If we are going to draft McMillian, I'd almost rather get the guy from Iowa state, looks like a natural X. Feel like that first round needs to he dt or edge.

We need DE, DL, WR, CB in that order. Assuming the talent falls correctly, that's my opinion on our needs.

Yeah. I think trading for him taking on about $9m in salary (guestimate) is a luxury for a contender looking for a #2 to compete. We have Kupp in Thielen. I am so worried that we overpay for a free agent WR playing in a good system (like we did the Eagles RB) and he underperforms here.
Smart worry. It's how bad teams stay bad. We'll see Morgan's mettle this year, it's when most GMs fug up.

There are 60+ guys who were seen by some teams as a 1st rounder before the draft process starts. Greg Little was a top 15 pick before the combine. Malik Willis and Matt Corral and Levis were all seen as 1st rounders at some point early in the draft process.
Unfortunately, we got spooked by the Cowboys maybe wanting Brooks and took him way too early. Hurney did the same with Little and grabbed the falling sword when Little had been dropped from most top 50 lists. Fitterer jumps on TMJ thinking the Saints will nab him. Fitterer said we considered Corral a potential 1st rounder too.
We were the only ones thinking Brooks was worth the risk and as usual we were wrong. Brooks was never healthy during any of the real draft process so your oh he was ranked a first rounder when healthy by others is just comfort food for our mistake. We were likely the only team that thought anything like that since it’s our history and he wasn’t. If he went in this draft with an ACL, he makes it to the 4th. We fell on the sword and now the deep 2025 RB class will all have a year of experience in the NFL before Brooks and still not be close to his injury risk. Someone in here said we probably don’t need him in 2026, so we’ve got folks already thinking we might get 1 year out of a 2nd round pick.
I think they made the wrong decision. My point was they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar, many would have said it was smart had he played well this year..I would not have. Taking risks is not what teams trying to rebuild should do. Not really sure why you are even quoting me as it wasn't cover for them. fug them and fug you.

Brooks wasn’t a first rounder and the ACL was too risky considering the 2025 RB class was loaded and there were several day 3 guys in the draft that looked like a great compliment.
I agree that it was dumb to risk it but his ACL was likely to tear and it would have sucked more if it happened week 1 2025. That said you should have an issue with drafting him in round 2 if you thought he shouldn’t play in 2024. If he’s not going to play then you have to compare him to the 2025 RB draft class and with the talent and depth, Brooks wasn’t likely a 3rd or more likely a 4th based on injury risk in 2025.
Uninjured he was seen as one by some teams, certainly early second. Especially pre injury. So not sure what your babbling about.

They tried to sneak a number 1 pick in the second round. Bit them. I have little doubt that several other teams were planning to take him within ten picks of when we did. BUT i think those risks Are unnecessary given the positional value. I could better understand a gamble on an OT, DE, etc.

Tuttle is probably fine as a backup DT, he's really out of place at NT, imo.

Is running back on the table for the panthers this draft?

Agree with kungfu. There are some absolutely viable RBs in the 4th and 5th round.
Watch Jarquez Hunter be there. Guy would be a steal.
